I'm pretty sure this has been asked n times before, but it's a classic question ;) Who do you like most as a songwriter? Greg, Brett or maybe even Jay? What do you like about them? And are there things you dislike?

Any reason? It would be more interesting if you'd say why you like that particular songwriter best.

I know that this question would come;)
Greg talks about things that are nearly into my heart and it`s easier to understand his lyrics than what brett writes. Although I appreciate brett`s lyrics as well. (also jay`s: Part 3 is awesome!)

No, Suffer was co-written and No Control, ATG and RfH were written by Greg.

I like GG most because he talks more of the things that I am interested in, and I am more motivated to think about his lyrics than the ones of Brett. Brett?s tunes are more radio friendly and catchy than Greg-songs, but that?s not the crucial point.

But his topics are not adequate for a broad publicity.

:D

I lovelovelove Brett's songwriting. His works have a subtle elegance and complexity behind them that often you only notice after repeated listenings. Greg's songs are in comparison very straight forward, and while I adore him, his songs don't tug on my heartstrings as often as Brett's do. Brett's compositions are told as stories, and most of the time their meanings unfold when examined closer (although sometimes, this results into something like Two Babies In The Dark, for which I haven't found an interpretation to this day).

I've always liked Greg's songs better for the same reasons.

I love Jay's songs. I wish he would write more. Part III is really amazing.

I don?t know where I read that Mr. Brett said, he can?t explain his lyrics because it?s art whereas GG is more willing to explain his songs, for instance, "The Gray Race". Mr. Brett?s lyrics are more poetry and larded with metaphors wheras GG?s lyrics sound more like scientic (analytic) essays. And I must confess that I always loved science more than poetry. But when it comes to poetry, Mr. Brett is the man!!!
