Su, have you ever read Der Schwarm by Frank Schatzing?
I just started reading the translation (The Swarm, durr) and it's a pretty fucking cool novel. |

Currently Reading:
(in order of most recently picking up; I read more than one book at a time, so it takes me a while to complete each one, sometimes... :O ) 1.) A Praexology of Coercion (Second Edition) (2008; Adam Knott) Link (careful, site has BRIGHT RED background): http://www.adamknott.com/free_publications/ 2.) "The Political Philosophy of Poststructuralist Anarchism" (1994, Todd May;) Amazon Link: http://www.amazon.com/Political-Philosophy-Poststructuralist-Anarchism/dp/0271028890/ref=pd_bbs_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218055019&sr=8-3 3.) "The Virtue of Selfishness" (1961, Ayn Rand) * I wouldn't disregard this book based on reactionary heresy you've heard about Rand. I also have the one that has the neat little art-deco painting on the cover :) Amazon Link: http://www.amazon.com/Virtue-Selfishness-Ayn-Rand/dp/0451163931/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218055580&sr=1-5 3.) "High Fidelity" (1995; Nick Hornby) * Got this and read it a while ago, I always end up re-reading at random times though, lol. Amazon Link: http://www.amazon.com/High-Fidelity-Novel-Nick-Hornby/dp/1594481784/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218056125&sr=8-1 4.) "Code: And Other Laws of Cyberspace" (Ver. 1; apparently Version 2.0 came out 2 years ago :\ ) (1999; Lawerence Lessig) *I keep restarting this after forgetting to reading it; one of many books I do that to, sadly :|. Link: Version 2.0: http://www.amazon.com/Code-Other-Laws-Cyberspace-Version/dp/0465039146/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218056717&sr=8-2 Version 1.0: http://www.amazon.com/Code-Other-Cyberspace-Lawrence-Lessig/dp/0465039138/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218056806&sr=1-2 5.) "Alcohol & the Writer" (1988; Donald W. Goodwin, M.D. ) Amazon Link: http://www.amazon.com/Alcohol-Writer-Donald-W-Goodwin/dp/0140126554/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218056832&sr=8-1 *Restarted like above, several times. I find myself reading more often reviews, excerpts, articles, & forum post's nowadays, but I suspect I'll eventually get back to consistently reading books at some point D: Edited by Jau_Peacecraft |

The Name Of The Wind, Patrick Rothfuss - wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It's pretty decent, although not your most original high fantasy.
Really looking forward to Nation, Terry Pratchett's new novel. I think I faintly remember something about it being a YA novel, but I need my Pratchett fix, and Maurice and the Tiffany Achings books were excellent, so I'm not worried about that. |

Genre fiction isn't always uplifting, though. I just finished I Am Legend and damn, these stories made me tear up. So sad. :(

I really think that the poising of Joff is turning out to be just like the who killed Asemodean conspiracy theroy (Uuhhhh got to re-read that entire series before the final book comes out with the new author). God I hope that the Starks finally get some vengenace. Man Martin has really taken a shit on them. Anybody read A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Byrson? It is a great read that puts a whole lot into lay-mans terms. Really recommend this for any science enthusiast or some one looking to dabble in the subject. |

Douglas Coupland is my author of the day. His flow and style are really nice to read. |
