When I was driving my car today an listing to my iPod (which was shuffling 1200+ songs), the first notes of Dirty Magic made me say to myself: "Damn, this is a great song and Ignition is a great fucking album!".

Thank you for sharing this moment with me.

Hell yeah Ignition will always be one of my favorite albums of all time. It's still as good as when I first discovered it.

"Ready to Fall"? Are you referring to the Rise Against song?

Hm...I don't think that one is meant as a love song...at least not as in love between human beings. In my opinion it's more about our planet and how we screw it up (climate, pollution, animal rights, etc.). Have you ever seen the video of that song? Watch the uncut version (it's pretty cruel though) and you will immediately understand that it's not about love (well, maybe love for the earth). Also, at the end of the video, Tim says "Every action has an reaction, we've got one planet, one chance."

Yes, I saw their video -in fact, all of them- and the lyrics for me is NOTHING TO DO with the earth. If they did that, I will erase that song then

The worst part of watching videos like this is not seeing the horrific things that human beings do, but the comments under the video that go one step further and push me nearer to losing all faith in humanity.  Even uneducated people should know better than that... fuck.

Well, of course a song can be interpreted in many ways, but I personally don't believe it has anything to do with love. Especially when I watch the video and read the lyrics at the same time it's just clear  for me that it's all about how we fuck up our planet. And this interpretation comes close to what Tim has said in an interview that the song's about: " getting to the top and having nowhere to go but down. It's about the price you pay to follow your dreams." My interpretation is that the 'getting to the top/ following your dreams' is a metaphor for consumerism and the 'going down/ having to pay the price' a metaphor for global warming and other kinds of environmental problems. But then again...it could be anything. :)

Sorry if the video made you sick to your stomach. It's indeed an understatement; it's just horrible to see such things, especially that dog being thrown into a garbage truck. That made me shiver.

That was the exact point where I shut off the video. Although there was even worse stuff there... The video came to my mind few times during the day and... damn...

Really sad and sickening stuff.

Maybe yeah, if you don't want to see a lot of animal abuse and such. But on the other hand, it might be good to watch it, cause it's a good (but horrible) way to realize again how screwed this world is and that we really should take some action.

Hmm, not a song, maybe just a split record/EP. If the Offspring will record a song à la Ignition, I will listen it over and over again, if not I will only listen Rise Against's part of the split. :p

Offspring used to be my #1 punk rock band for many years. I started listening to them when I was... 9? Maybe 10. My favorite album by them would probably be Ixnay on the Hombre. Smash and Ignition kick ass as well. I also happen to like most of Americana. Songs like No Brakes, Pay the Man (!), Americana, Staring at the Sun, Have You Ever and Kids Aren't Alright are great.

Ever since I discovered Bad Religion I'm not really into Offspring anymore but I still enjoy their albums. The last one was pretty good (although Kristy, Are You Doing Okay is pretty horryfing).

...When I think about it, Conspiracy of One is also nice for the most part. Shit, turns out I still really like this band.

True, however I can't really see them going back to their old sound, but i'd like to see that.

Well maybe they won't go back to their old sound, but look what happened after BR returned to Epitaph. There certainly was a change in their sound and style. Although it was partly because Brooks joined the band I suppose.
