Yea, don't ever play Metal Gear Solid 4. It's more movie than game.  The Half-Life series really got it right.  No cut scenes, all gameplay.

I really enjoyed the cut scenes from MP 3, though there were times where I wish they would just let you interact instead of watch.

Why does my perspective in First Person Shooters feel so close to the ground? It's one of the first things i noticed when i first placed Half-Life and now years later I still find quite annoying after playing Borderlands. It would be quite nice if you could get a height adjustment option like how a viewing option is available in car racing games.

Also, Nintendo just released a pre-E3 'press conference-esque' video detailing their new Wii U. Looks pretty awesome, so far.

It's a really well done 4X strategy game that also puts a heavy focus on inter-personal relationships to drive the systems at large.  The game should have just been a GoT IP, it's absolutely perfect for it.  Learning curve will be a bit high, but if you take the time, you will be heavily rewarded.

I've played twice so far.  First time, I chose Jaime Lannister - he died of a random plague a few turns in, leadership of Lannisters passed to Cersei, and all my allies abandoned me!!!

Second one, I chose Ned Stark.  I made some poor diplomatic moves that resulted in a four year old Jon Snow being executed by Robert Baratheon.  Delicious!!!

Oh, yeah sorry. Didn't see your last post.

Well, I didn't buy it. I looked at some streaming, read some stuff, reviews, etc, and nothing convinced me of buying it.

They had so much trouble launching it, with errors all over the place. They apparently didn't bother planning that...

For me that's a huge turn off. In addition to the things I said earlier, Blizzard is 10-12 years in developing the game and they can't deliver pvp, pets and even the game during the first hours/day. DRMs are as bad as it can get. And on top of that, they're cheeky enough to charge $60. And no to forget the max level is 60, so they will likely put out some expansion to give you 10 more levels, plus another act, and charge $60 once again...

Maybe I'll download it and crack it to play in lan with some friends, but even that doesn't seem appealing. What is sure is that I won't give my money to blizzard/activision.

I'm patiently waiting for Grim Dawn, which will kick D3's ass in every possible ways. Even Torchlight 2, for only $20, will be a much better game. I played the beta two weeks ago and yeah, there's no fog all over the place in every levels to make it seem creepy...

And while waiting, I'm currently appreciating Titan Quest. This game is so good, there are so many ways you can build your characters that D3 looks like a facebook game next to it.

So yeah... I understand some people will like D3, and I respect them. But I'm too frustrated and disappointed by Blizzard to buy their game.

Diablo III is pretty good. I finished the game in single-player on normal difficulty.

However, after finishing the game, I'm not sure I want to play again on higher difficulties because it gets repetitive .

Torchlight 2 seems ancient from a game design standpoint after playing D3.

edit
your comment on builds in Titan Quest baffles me.  I played the SHIT out of TQ/IT.  The number of potential builds per character is far less than in D3.  D3 has 29 bil skill combinations per character.  That's a lot of fucking builds man.  Also confused about "pets".  My monk has a pet.  My Witch Doctor has 8.  And a follower in single player...

Gravel :

I was talking about a "permanent" pet. Blizzard was supposed to develop something a bit like Torchlight, but they didn't have time. Pets in Torchlight are nice, and even better in Torchlight 2. When creating your character you can choose among 6 pets, or maybe 8..? (Don't remember) No matter which class you choose.

About the builds. I guess you didn't count how much skill combinations you can have in TQ. And not only talking about the 45 classes, but really about the skills combinations you can make.

Anyways, in D3 there is no more "builds". You can change whenever you want, thus not rewarding a player that has really taken the time of working and thinking his build. It's one of the most important part of an ARPG. Making a mistake in your build and starting it again from scratch is the beauty of playing such a game. D3 is an oversimplified game made for casuals players, that will attract some hardcore players because it's called Diablo III and some people have been waiting 12 years for it. In this game, everyone can be as good as good as anyone.

Hey, you're not good enough to build a good character, it doesn't matter, you can change you skills choices in no time. And guess what, we allocate your stat points for you, because it might get too complicated. You're still not good enough to play well with it? It still doesn't matter since we have an online item shop. And guess what, if you're STILL too bad to get enough gold, we will eventually have an online real money item shop that we weren't able to deliver on time, that will get us a lot more bucks. Our shareholders will be happy, yeah that's the purpose.

You suck at ARPGs and want to be able to kick everyone's ass in our eventual PVP arena that we weren't able to deliver on time either? Well don't panic! Ask your parents for 10 more bucks!

I'm telling you, it can't be more in your face. Blizzard has made D3 a big 4-104 years old mainstream type of game. I think there's no better way of describing it then what I said in my previous post. It's a facebook game... but they charge you $60 for it.

I know, it's surely not THAT bad. But the fact that you can get a lot of better games out there for only $20 (TQ&TQ IQ is $20 on steam right now, as is Torchlight 2, with Torchliight 1 free), DRM free, is pretty telling.

D3 is not worth more than $15-20.

And I forgot to mention that Torchlight 2 will be completely moddable.

To make it short, my point is, Diablo 3 is not worth $60. If you can afford it and don't mind buying an overpriced game, then I guess it's ok.

If you're not that into the whole D3 marketing thing, wait for Torchlight 2, aka the real D2 sequel. It's gonna worth it. It's supposed to come out this month or the next... Either way, they're taking their time, and it's ok like that.

After that, in about a year, it's gonna be Grim Dawn, from the same developpers that did Titan Quest. This game is gonna be legendary!

Gravel, any new good indie games?
Did you see my links about Cube world?

Dude I'm just out of 3 years of Evony madness, and originally I quit when 3d came in. I prefered the first Diablo more than the second. I think I'm on your side. Now I just play old Baldur's Gate II Shadows Of Amn & Throne Of Baal and chill. One of these days I'm gonna plug my old super nintendo and have a blast. It's just a damn long way to retirement, and I don't think I'm gonna live to there. Okay rant over, let's kill monstruosities now lol
