For the last week or so I've been pretty busy building a new (and of course improved) version of the Discography section on this site. The framework is almost ready, but content is what's missing now.
Anyway, I'd like to give everyone a small preview of what's coming soon.  As you can see it will contain a huge amount of detail (and this screenshot is only the general overview page for TDoM). It will contain barcodes, Matrix/Run-out details, all vinyl colors, etc of every single BR release from all countries. One of the new features is the option to identify the items in your collection and generate a neat overview of what you own; for yourself but also for others. Future improvements will probably include some sort of "Value guide" for the items in the discography. As a results you should (in theory) be able to see how much your BR record collection is worth. Looks good for collectors, but if you're not a collector, will all that detail still be there, or will there still be the standard overview of the album with quick links to more detail if you want it? All that detail would be pretty annoying for someone like me if it was the first page I hit on.

But on the other hand... what does a non-collector expect to find in a discography? Just a list of 15 albums with cover art, tracklists and lyrics? Sounds a whole lot like what one can find on pretty much every single site out there; including www.badreligion.com. If it's the song interpretations people are interested in, I'm actually thinking about reviving the "Defining Bad Religion" section which will then be dedicated to just the song interpretations (and lyrics). |

true... i didnt even know there were things such as "alternate color pressings" (i.e. Purple/Yellow ATG's) and things of that nature. its just stuff thats over my head. May i suggest adding blurbs/descriptions from collectors on here who already have a particular vinyl/cd/etc. that offers advice on what to look for to ensure it's what theyre looking for? such as imprints special stickers, small print, that kind of thing.Edited by frod79 - 01/13/2011 at 09:54 |

Just now I've imported a list of approximately 330 items into the new discography, including all of their details (catalog nr, matrix / runout groove info, etc etc). However, before we'll go live we're going to spend a bit more time adding any images and tracklists that we already have. To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, check out these new previews.
