thank you very much... as for dressing up in a new america outfit, unfortunately my memory of that isn't quite up to par. i only remember that i wore a black jumpsuit. strangely, in the early draft, baker was the doll that threw up, but in the video it was the graffin doll... which is highly illogical.

I don't know if you know the details of this, but as far as I understand the process, the first identification is added to the lacquer when the Master disc is made; which explains the "L-#####" code. But when are other markings added such as the common "S-#####" codes (where the pressing took place) and the custom texts that you guys used to have?

Also, on re-pressings we often see an 'old' S-code with a strikethrough and a new one added (with other old etchings sometimes hardly readable). For example, Epitaph repressed all of BR's records in 1994 - for obvious reasons, of course.... Does this mean that these new markings are added to the original Master disc... so etched into the nickel?
The same question would apply to the infamous 1st and 2nd pressing of the first EP: with different etchings and the fact that the Master disc can only be created once, it would suggest that the etchings would have been added to the Mother disc(s), right?

Btw, who usually owns/stores the Master discs and Mother discs? The record label or the pressing plant?

Thinking about this, it now completely makes sense that the 12" 'the original' re-issue of the EP from 1984 sounds so different than the first 7" from 1981; Brett had to redo it completely in order to create a new 12" Master disc.

bbrrzztt... wha? yes. our etching are done at the mastering lab on the original vinyl master. all others are done at plate changes. plates and mothers are usually stored at the pressing plant. masters are owned by the label. i've watched it happen a zillion times and i still don't get how the get the SOUND from the vinyl master to the pressing plate... but i'm just a simple farm boy
