you're all wasting oxygen.
Christmas Halford is watching you all year every year.

I have a quick question ( I know where to send the money)

My four-and- a-half year old son wants to dress like the Greg Graffin doll in the New America music video for Halloween. Do you have any suggestions to help me make it look more realistic? I'm planning on making him an olive drab long-sleeved t-shirt covered in patches to match the doll in the video. We'll put him in black pants and boots, and put in a rinse out red hair dye. Do you think this will work? We'll take pictures, and send them along once he's dressed. He'd love your opinion, as he has an enormous amount of respect for you.

Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. BR is his favorite band, and he wanted to dress up as something that would make you pleased.

P.S. Best wishes for your new little one! I'm sure she is darling.

thank you very much... as for dressing up in a new america outfit, unfortunately my memory of that isn't quite up to par. i only remember that i wore a black jumpsuit. strangely, in the early draft, baker was the doll that threw up, but in the video it was the graffin doll... which is highly illogical.

Jay, i just checked the schedule for NXNE and you guys are slotted from 9-11pm, unless it's just a typo. Am i being too hopeful for a deeper set? Also, what do you think of Toronto? I've never ventured up there and everything I hear is usually good.

it's good in TO... but i don't really see us getting too deep and i REALLY don't see 2 hours.. if you want to take the nascar approach and come for the entertainment value of the possible train wreck...this may be your chance!

Recently we've been working on figuring out some of the etchings on BR's vinyl records... trying to determine whether or not they're re-pressings, etc.  http://www.thebrpage.net/theanswer/?article=vinyl_etchings
And to be honest, I find the whole vinyl process quite interesting...
I don't know if you know the details of this, but as far as I understand the process, the first identification is added to the lacquer when the Master disc is made; which explains the "L-#####" code. But when are other markings added such as the common "S-#####" codes (where the pressing took place) and the custom texts that you guys used to have?

Also, on re-pressings we often see an 'old' S-code with a strikethrough and a new one added (with other old etchings sometimes hardly readable). For example, Epitaph repressed all of BR's records in 1994 - for obvious reasons, of course.... Does this mean that these new markings are added to the original Master disc... so etched into the nickel?
The same question would apply to the infamous 1st and 2nd pressing of the first EP: with different etchings and the fact that the Master disc can only be created once, it would suggest that the etchings would have been added to the Mother disc(s), right?

Btw, who usually owns/stores the Master discs and Mother discs? The record label or the pressing plant?

Thinking about this, it now completely makes sense that the 12" 'the original' re-issue of the EP from 1984 sounds so different than the first 7" from 1981; Brett had to redo it completely in order to create a new 12" Master disc.
[/nerd alert]

bbrrzztt... wha? yes. our etching are done at the mastering lab on the original vinyl master. all others are done at plate changes. plates and mothers are usually stored at the pressing plant. masters are owned by the label. i've watched it happen a zillion times and i still don't get how the get the SOUND from the vinyl master to the pressing plate... but i'm just a simple farm boy

Sorry to have caused such a mess...I was interested in Jay's opinion, nothing more.

i think halloween is a perfect time to wrap yourself in toilet paper or whatever you want to be... i like the idea that you want to help dress him up... he'll be stoked. and he'll get candy. i want candy

Jay, are Greg and Brett still writing songs or is there already some kind of list of possible songs that will be recorded?
