Anyone watch the teaser trailer for the Offsprings new single which is supposed to drop on KROQ this friday morning? The track listing is also shown.  You only get about a 30 second peak at the new song, but I think its terrible.  Its super poppy and pretty much represents the side of the Offspring i've never cared for.  I feel like this new album will suck pretty badly.

The song is called Days Go By, which is also the title of the album.

I actually really loved Hammerhead and pretty much the first 5-6 songs on the album.  The rest I though was really bad, which was disappointing because I had high hopes after hearing Hammerhead.

i heard something on youtube with the same name by offspring. If so, it is teh suck.  I'm just giving it the benefit of the doubt until friday.  Maybe a little 'studio magic' will help... who knows.

if thats all that they and so many other bands say before they put out a cd....why dont they do it?  i dont understand, if they really want to go back to their roots why they couldnt just simply do so.  if its a marketing attempt, why does he say that three days before releasing a preview of a poppier version of a foo fighters song? im harder on them since back in the day they were my favorite band, and then they released a song where the chorus is "im not the one who acted like a ho!" .............i squirmed the first time i listened to that.  the crazy thing is in between those stupid songs they are still capable of making GREAT punk songs...just listen to the noose, never gonna find me, lightning rod, or trust in you.  oh offspring...

I didn't think it was too bad. Way better than when they play it live. I liked the last album and Dirty Magic is one of my favorite songs. I'm optimistic.

I know people will bash me for saying this but seriously, just give up on the Offspring.  Ignition was a great album.  Smash was one of the best.  Ixnay was very good.  Then EVERYTHING went downhill.  When I say downhill I don't just mean downhill in the terms of solid punk.  Green day did the same thing but I felt like they still kept writing good quality music (whether you like it or not).  The offspring on the other hand starting writing kids songs with distortion.  Pretty Fly For A White Guy etc?  As far as I am cencerned they are just total garbage now. Same with Rise against.  I loved their early stuff but now I don't even listen to their new releases because I know it'sjust not going to be good.  From what I hear, I haven't missed much.

Needs a sense of relevance or something to rebel against.
