Just a post to all my musician friends. Want to see what you all are using to play your music, Whatever instrument, whatever genre...my setup goes as follows:
Guitar #1 (Estella): Korean Epiphone SG. Modifications-Grover nickel tulip keys, some old trapeze-style tailpiece, Dimarzio Super Distortion humbucker in the bridge, ripped out the pickup in the neck and patched up the hole. Made a custom pick guard myself. Only one volume knob. Dean Markley Blue Steel 10-46 gauge strings (Just like BB) Guitar #2(Holly):LTD Eclipse in worn sunburst with aged binding. Completely unmolested. (Thinking of going Grover nickel tupip keys as well. They just hold a tune forever.) Same string combination as above. Amp-1986 Laney AOR 100 Pro Tube lead 100-watt head. Completely unmolested (with the exception of the nameplate being flipped backwards and putting a "Mosca" sticker over it). Playing that out of an Ampeg 4x12 slant cabinet. No effects, just a road box with a Korg DTR-1000 Chromatic rackmount tuner and a Furman power conditioner. And a crap load of cables connecting all of it. Look forward to see what you're using! Frod uses Gallien Kruger RBX cabs, hartke heads and fender fretless jazz basses, and/or ibanez.
I also own a hand made but poorly designed (but aesthetically pleasing) whamola. Maple body, rosewood fingerboard, tone & volume (my downfall for something so thin) But hey it worked for like 10 minutes. No rack tuners, i use one of those little clip on tuner dealies Edited by frod79 - 07/12/2012 at 17:34 |

Frod, why fretless? Just asking...I know a few bassists that prefer them for easy playability. They also sound rad for sliding.

The fretless is good for
![]() This was my old bass. and there's the GK cabinet and the Hartke head. i don't think i have a pic of me with my current bass, but.. this is it. correction: it's a Fender Squire Modified Fretless Jazz bass. the fretllines are laser engraved into the wood. it was cheap so i took a shot at it. Looking forward to going back to fretted as soon as this one craps out. It was a case of "it sounded nice at the music store and it was on sale" ![]() Ironically enough, i found a picture of me playing a GK head and a Hartke cabinet. I don't think the head was mine though. The ol' switcheroo. ![]() and of course the mighty whamola ![]() Edited by frod79 - 07/12/2012 at 18:36 |

main guitar is a 2007ish Les Paul Studio, totally stock, was looking into buying a super distortion pickup, but haven't yet.
I also have a fender squire, and a SX telecaster clone(which for being 120 bucks or something, is pretty nice, I played a few shows with it and it sounded great) run that into a Crybaby wah pedal(almost never use), a BOSS super overdrive pedal, and an ibanez tuner pedal, and all into a VOX AD30VT amp. Been looking at getting one of those computer controlled pedal boards that hook up to Amplitube or Guitar Rig Main bass is Schecter Model T(the black telecaster style bass Jay plays). I also have an ibanez bass fairly similar to Frod's old bass, and a Epihpone EB0 SG style short scale bass that goes into a pretty crappy peavy combo amp Pics soon(of the schecter and gibson)

I don't have much as far as pictures of gear but here are my two main children:
http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd220...06.jpg" border="" height="384" width="512"> First is my Plexi clone, I hand built it from the ground up. Matched with my JCM800 Cab. Second is my JCM800 matched with an early 80's (I think?) Marshall straight cab. I re-tolexed the white on my own and it goes well with my EPI LP Custom in Alpine white, which is my main guitar. In addition to this, I have a bunch of studio/recording equipment. Currently in the market for a bass/rig as I just started playing bass in the band I'm touring with. |

I'll now be the first one to introduce instruments without strings: - I play a Kawai MP4 Stage Piano. Sounds and feels good. Great for going on stage while not wanting to carry a grand piano along. - Recently a friend lent me his Roland VK-8 Electric Organ. Has got a great sound. And is fun to play. Now my instruments with strings: Basses: - Yamaha RBX 270 - Ibanez AGB 200 I've always wanted to try a fretless bass. I never have. Bass amps: - Hartke 3500 Head + Hartke VX 410 Cabinet (in the rehersal room) - Peavey MicroBass Combo (at home) Guitar: - Yamaha Pacifica with 2 Seymour Duncan SSL-1 vintage pickups Except for the keys it's all low-budget stuff. But I like it. |

My bass was so lightweight I could lift it whole with one pinkie. Good for running around. Amp was a 200 watts YorkVille with 2 pairs of different size speakers. All I remember is if you want to have your guitar sound like Pantera, plug it in a 200 watts bass amp and then laugh at how easy it is to sound like those obnoxious fat asses.

Those Epi Thunderbirds are quite nice. I'd pick one up for a reasonable price.

The popular fuzz is the Electro-harmonix Big Muff pedal. Don't know much about it, but my buddy made a clone of it. Sounds rad. I hear the Boss OC3 Octave pedal is quite nice as well. |

You guys have some nice gear!
I use an unbranded Les Paul guitar, bought it off someone who made it from scratch - it sounds really good, and my bass is an Ibanez (not sure of the model)
![]() ![]() I've just been given a 5 string Yamaha bass by my uncle, it has amazing electrics, but I can't get used to the extra string!
I also have a westfield strat style guitar and a westfield P-style bass (they sound crappy though, so are for emergencies only)
I have no amps because my neighbours hate noise, so I just use a Pod X3 with headphones. I wouldn't mind an Ampeg bass amp/cab though.
Edit: I don't know what happened to the pictures :-/

Yeah, I am thinking of picking up up the Boss Octave pedal as you can do a poly-octave effect, plus a 2-octave down effect. Never used a lot of pedals until recently but have been doing some neo-Green Day shit with the tremelo and delay lately.
