I don't believe that Mr Brett will alone keep rock alive.
Yes, he and Epitaph are important platforms for new rock bands (and by rock I mean punk/alternative etc bands), but Epitaph is only a record label - a cargo ship, a delivery truck, a managed broadcasting method for these bands.
As long as people start their own bands, and as long as they play good rock music, rock will never die.
Rock was never a lifeform - just a sound. And sounds don't die.

Mr. Brett IS the man that's gonna keep rock alive. Epitaph will prevail through all the other punk labels like FAT and Asian Man (he he, Asian Man isn't even that good). Anyway, Mr. Brett is the man, and rock will NEVER DIE!!!!!

And saying Brett could fuck himself cemented your argument? That's exactly why I copied you by using your own words against you. And calling me a douchebag just now cemented this one? Haha. Yeah yeah.

Oh my god, Epitaph is like, such a sellout!
Epitaph is Brett's business - although I do think it has lost the "punk" spirit in the sense that it was meant to be an independent punk label.
Now that he's signing hip-hop acts and emo bands, which I personally hate, I can see what people are trying to say.
I was a little unhappy when I found hip-hop and other alternative, non-'punk' stuff on their comp, Punk O Rama 10. Now they have changed the name of that haven't they? It's not called Punk O Rama anymore. Correct me if I'm wrong though, please.
Nonetheless, it is his label, and just like any other businessman, he wants to make some money out of it - you can't blame him for that.
Still, we're not being forced to listen to the crap he signs. As long as I have Bad Religion, that's all I need off Epitaph.

some people just dont get it, epitaph is a tool, a tool to sell music. it has never been anything else. but a lot of people act like its a band or something that should never change its style. i am waiting for a person to call epitaph a "sellout".

You're right, Epitaph is Brett's label, but you clearly have no concept of loyalty to the fans who have been supporting the epitaph that Brett originally started. If you are honestly trying to say that what Brett wants to do to progress with Epitaph is more important than his original fanbase, you need to go look at Revelation, and Victory. Brett has gotten himself in quite the catch 22 because no one is going to take epitaph seriously anymore in two years when no one gives a shit about any of these new signings, and after he cashes in on it, it WILL be nostalgia trying to sign punk bands again.
Saying fuck me didn't exactly cement your point to anyone with half a brain, douchebag, and if you think that supporting epitaph because you once loved it means that you have to support Brett's BU$INE$$, than maybe you should take a lesson in integrity from "all us fickle 16 year olds". A demand for consistency doesn't seem so fickle to me.

I agree with Neil Davis on the fickle nature of the 16yrs group. But Neil, why did you choose Graffin's bad publicity to mark you point? If you hadn't commented on it, I would not have ever known that it ever supposedly happened!

Epitaph belongs to Mr. Brett. If he wants to run it into the ground, he has every right. But he hasn't. He has been playing businessman long enough to know what works what doesn't and right now emo and other styles that stray from punk is good for business. In my opinion I hate that. But you know what? TOUGH SHIT. Its his label, he'll run it how he wants and if i happen to like something i'll buy it. Amen to Neil Davis, EATYOURDOG, and Steve (original).

WRONG! Epitaph is Brett's label... nothing more nothing less. Why should be rehash the past...then internet trolls like you would flame him for "cashing in" on the nostalgia trend. When it comes to trolls like you it's a lose lose situation.

Bretts obligation with Epitaph lays with the bands, not the fans of those bands, and not the stereotype you're trying to force onto his label.
Go fuck YOURSELF.

Brett doesn't give a damn anymore about anything that's not going to get him a buck, and that's why he's cashing in on everyones new love for "emo". Is he proving himself as some great music connoisseur because he hasn't signed a punk band in ages? The direction of the label should have been decided by the fans who got him to where he was, and he is trowing us under the wagon. If he's trying to prove a point to us "16 year old kids" then he can go fuck himself.

Epitaph is a punk label, plain and simple. All the releases that epitaph has put out to establish themselves dictate that, and whether someone has been into Bad Religion for a year or 20, their support of epitaph is what needs to remain most important to Brett. Everything Brett has done for Bad Religion and punk in general aside, he cares no more about punk than he did ten years ago, and he has proved that all his intentions are business related, just as his return to the band was. He can shy away from punk as much as he wants by talking about the beatles, but he owes consistency and quality to all his fans. You look at the epitaph site and there is almost no indication of anything from the past. Look for a page on the Deviates, or 98 Mute, or the videos that they made.

Wow, powerful stuff here.
I've witnessed the pathetic "LOL! greg graffin woz caught jerking off on webcam to sum fat chick, hahahaha lol, he really does luv his computer" bullshit, and it actually makes me angry.
Number 1, I don't think it was actually real - yes, he may have been changing on webcam, but I didn't see any evidence of him masturbating.
And number 2 - even if he did, GET THE FUCK OVER IT. He is only human.
People have been calling him a 'dirty old man'. Which kind of upsets me, because they have no proof, and they are like a bunch of fucking vultures, all jumping onto the bandwagon after hearing some pathetic rumour.
It was a shame about the BRMB - I never got the chance to post on it, but then again, judging by what I read on it, I didn't want to.
And people tend to forget that Bad Religion are a 6-man band, not just Greg. Respect for all the BR guys, past and present is my main theory.
I'm 17 by the way.

Those 16 year olds should be shot honestly... this is what happens when they DONT go out and get drunk/high/trip and get laid and play music while they still can before they're 18: they stay at home in the small room, playing video games, being emo, listening to shitty emo bands, listening to one BR album over and over to feel like they know everything, and bitching about every other album and being closet gay because they're obsessed with a masturbation scheme that was a hoax anyways.
fucking sheep.

yea, the brmb really was no longer a fan message board... it turned into a giant chat room with immature posts everywhere. philosophical and serious topics were few and far between; however, i still wish brett would bring it back up. unfortunately, i doubt this will happen

The problem with most immature scensters is they lack respect. The Bad Religion Messege board became a disgrace to all respectful and appcieative Bad Religion fans. It was disgusting and heartbreaking at the same time. I respect Brett...everybody loves Graffin...Graffin this Graffin that.. well news flash...Brett and Jay (and Hetson once in a blue moon) were the only ones cool enough to say hello, have conversations and answers stupid BR related questions...

Actually you reactionary 16-year-olds made it difficult for his label to survive. That's the point he's making. Put a couple of you guys together and you flock like sheep. Fickle bunch you are.
Look at punknews.org. Can't even say name Greg Graffin without 20 masturbation references in the thread popping up. Without fail, no exaggeration.
If you can talk shit about him, he can talk shit about you. He's not a slave to your money.
