Hahaha, guess you're right. But at least it would've explained where Footprints In The Snow went ;)
But the latter posts certainly sound like Jay. I wish people would stop pretending to be him.

So... is the Jay who posted about the new record real? Or not?
If you're listening, Jay, can't you create an own account and get admin to get you some marker color? That would at least clear some confusion. At the moment, anybody can impersonate you.

Okay. So if you are in fact Jay Bentley, you are quoted in the same article as saying this (me reposting for the second time):
'Isn't it easy for Neil Young to do it now? Yeah, great, you're political again. Even though I love him, or even Pearl Jam, they're like six years late'
That's what you (Jay) said, unless you tell me otherwise (you already verified other quotes from the same article). My point is that both Neil Young and Pearl Jam have been speaking out against Bush for a while. PJ since before he was elected and Neil since at least 2002 (Riot Act and Greendale, again). So saying "too little too late" seems unfair. The fact they choose to keep speaking out on atrocities still occuring does not discount what they did previously.
If you did not say what you have been quoted as saying, I apologize.

Yah I like Jay a lot, but sometimes he just comes off as kind of retarded.
Sure he thinks people who thought bush wouldn't get reelected are stupid, but he thought making rock albums would change america's perspective on george bush? oh come no dude. what are you talking about? the people who listen to you already agree with that, what did you think would happen? I think it's really funny he thinks bad religion is some rare instance of bands being political in the past few years. He doesn't really pay attention to a lot of other bands though."

Your religion is stupid
interview
September 21, 2006
by Chris Beauchamp, Editor-in-chief
"--and with their latest album, 2004's The Empire Strikes First, more focused on their target. In this case: the neo-cons in the White House. Bentley admits, however, that punk hasn't had as much of an impact on partisan politics as some might like to believe.
"It really didn't do anything, did it?" he says, chuckling. "[NOFX's Fat] Mike did Punk Voter, and we put out records and we all went on tour and said 'This guy's a dick,' and it didn't do anything. It's much like when people said, 'You need to see Farenheit 9/11. It'll change your opinion of Bush,' and I said, 'I'm not the one who needs to see it.'"
so i'm just wondering again...
you can actually ask me a question and have rational discourse, or you can continue the cycle you are rallying against and post inuendo and unchecked facts....

sadly, the fact still remains that unlike an actual interview, this is an "article".
i was not the one who said;
"That's why he finds the sudden vogue of Bush bashing on behalf of acts like Pearl Jam and Neil Young so annoying; it's really too little too late."
i did say...
"What's the point of coming out and saying 'F--- George Bush?' It's already been done and no one cared," says Bentley.
i would like to hear the trancripts of the tape for the remainder.. knowing them personally and how much they have contibuted to the efforts agaist bush.. i would be intersted in the CONTEXT that the quote was taken from.
i wonder if the ignorance of the press on your part is no more alarming...

His comments betray his ignorance on what said artists were doing up to when they started recieveing press for "being political".

umm, pretty sure the only band i've given the political bandwagon jumping middle finger is the dixie chicks.. not neil young (think about how retarded i would have to be to think that) and not pearl jam (close friends of mine, who i am very well aware of their motivations).. so before you post what YOU think i think, get your facts straight.. and you will never know who is on here, who is who, and thats fine. jayb@badreligion.com..

Erm, how do we know that this Jay is THE Jay? I mean, where's the verification? I could post under his name, email and country if I wanted to...So how do we know, eh?
It's not that I have mega doubts, but I'm just a little worried about who this Jay is...

I agree, too. Let's have a revival and allot Jay the orange colour for his nickname like in the good old days of the refresh-every-15(or was it 20)-seconds chat on the early official site.

I don't know where all this is coming from, Greg G and Brett are the only members of the band writing material for the new album.

I don't know how to submit news, so I'll just post this here.
This is some details about the new album, but nothing is final, and the name is just a working title, and will almost definetly be changed for release.

1.Sonnet
2.Method Uprising
3.Hushed in Disgrace
4.Expedience
5.Brave New Era
6.Violence on the Direct Periphery

8.The Unstoppable Amoral Language of Heaven
9.The First Commemorative Inscription (Intertlude)
10.You Can?t Comprehend
11.Jaded Gluttony
12.Right to Exist
13.Footsteps In The Snow

I'm glad someone else was thinking this. Jay loves to spout off on people, which is cool and kinda funny, but he's off base slagging Neil Young and Pearl Jam. Both of them were making anti-war messages before they made headlines this year (Greendale and Riot Act, respectively). The only difference is the media has decided to cover them now. Jay's comments reveal he's only aware of those artists as they are represented in the mainstream media.
He also makes it seem like writing political music is more of a tactic rather than art. That's why he can't believe people are still railing against Bush. "Why are you doing it?"
Uh, 'cause they're expressing what they feel. It's not campaigning, it's art. To mistake it as anything else is silly.
