I don't get the point. Anyone searching you tube and typing in "Bad Religion Cover" on a daily basis will find this crap.
There's no need to post it here and there's definitely no need to call it news.
When you thank Neil, at least keep that in mind.
And don't slag someone else for visiting this site every 2 hours when you're scanning youtube every half hour for the new nobody band, that nobody cares about, doing a no-good cover of bad religion.
It's the admins site and he can do what he wants, but when you want people to like the site you put up, you should probably take the feedback given.
And can someone please get rid of this fucking country selector bullshit. I don't want to have to bother with it everytime I make a post. Maybe just a permanent log in or something.

I say the webmaster puts up a poll, one that'll last about a week, the outcome of that will decide if people label it as news, or that it has to be listed under interact. whaddaya say?

It's not just you, Boltzzman. Some of us don't want to just settle for any garbage band that plays a bad religion cover. It isn't news. It should be in the interact section, or make a new FAN section where fan-made videos can be seen and linked to. I listen to bad religion because i like bad religion. i think THEY do a fine job being bad religion. any jerk can make a bad cover. even if it was an especially good cover, it still isn't bad religion news. it'd be like a sports news website showing you footage of two brothers playing catch in their yard and calling that the headline story. it sucks and shouldn't be in the news column.

Good points. The origins of the word news are pretty interesting. Back when local newspapers were called gazettes, tabloids, etc... they started running national stories in their own section. The section stipulated that these were stories from the North, East, West, and South and thus the word NEWS was born. I agree that news is subjective. I also agree that different people have different standards of what is considered news. It seems to me, however, that even though my comments aren't very popular at the moment, the consenus seems to be that these stories are not deemed as "newsworthy". The internet is full of places that cater their news to the lowest common denominator. My experience on this site has previously been that this is not one of them. My wish is that this site remain the forerunner in Bad Religion news without kowtowing to these items that are not directly related to the band or its members. Once that happens than anything can be considered news. Thanks for the comments.

As humorous as your banter was, it raises a debate. What is "news"? To put it in Socratic terms: is information newsworthy, because it gets broadcasted or is it broadcasted because it is newsworthy? Ultimately it is an empty question and can only be addressed subjectively through examination of the idea of "newsworthiness". If information becomes news once someone has perceived it as news (broadcasted) then the concept of "news" is basically a parasitic explanation of some information that happens to have gone through a particular process. Alternatively, information could have the potential of news, which is achieved once it has been broadcasted. Does everything have the potential of becoming news? Perhaps on the condition that as a consequence of viewing the story or item, a person (people) become informed or enlightened in some new capacity.
These covers have an indirect link to Bad Religion News through a direct link with Bad Religion. Personally, I thought it was a shit cover.

Good use of hyperbole Neil. I do check this page alot, especially on the weekend when I have some free-time. That's why when I see it start to slip I make comments. I agree that "real" Bad Religion news is infrequent. That's fine. I, however, don't need filler material while I'm waiting for real news. If you don't agree with the point I'm making that's fine, but your comments are still missing the mark when it comes to the point. When something substantive starts getting filled with tripe it degrades the entire message. I love this site. It is far and away the best place for Bad Religion news/tabs/answers etc...That's why I think it's important to keep it that way! All I ask is that you think critically about the principle we're discussing. That's all I'm interested in. I also agree that this argument has gone on too long. I'm sorry if my comments offended you personally. They were only meant to be ironic.

*agrees with boltzzman*. if it was some professional band covering a BR song, it'd deserve to be in the news section maybe, but if it's just some teenagers playing in their mother's basement, why should anyone consider it newsworthy? if this sorta tripe is to be posted (which is inevitable, with the accessibility to youtube for anyone who wants to upload stuff), a separate section should be put up. Hell, why not even put it in "interact", for christ's sake?

c'mon kids, stop before it ends in crying.
on topic: the cover sucks, the intro is fucked as the bass and guitar somehow miss eachother, and yeah, the electric drums sounds like it has no soul. logically. And his voice... is just another mediocre punkrock voice. I bet the cover works fine for many of you.

Freshman English? It seems that most of you couldn't even pass that. None of you get the point. I'm sorry I gave you all too much credit. It's nice to know that you prefer nonsense to content. It's also nice to know that calm debate is met with anger. I know I don't have to click on these...unless I want to post a comment about how they shouldn't be considered news. Then I do have to click on them. I realize now that I'm wasting my time with most of you. So don't try to change things that you feel are wrong. Take what you're given and love it. And by all means attack those whose ideas differ from yours. I'm not here to "stir up shit", as you so eloquently put it. I was trying to make a point using irony. I was not trying to impress any you. One thing's for sure. You all think I'm the one that's angry, but everyone of you has shown your true colors. And Neil, for the millionth time I didn't say "get rid of these videos" I said that they don't belong in the NEWS section. Pay attention.

What is all this talk about a "true" Bad Religion fan? Quit speaking nonsense.
We understand you don't like these videos, but why should we get rid of them just because of you? Not everyone has time to find videos on youtube, even though it's pretty easy to do so. All you have to do is NOT CLICK on a link that's OBVIOUSLY a fucking video. Do you really hate your fellow man that much that you cannot grant him this convenience? It's much easier to not click something, than to search for something.

I'm sorry that none of you seem to be able to distinguish between challenging ideas and opinions and just attacking someone. I guess a true Bad Religion fan should just "peacefully" accept what he's given and not challenge it. I guess thinking critically about the meaning of words we use everyday isn't something that is important to you. I'm not complaining so much about my time as I am about a principle. I'm sorry that seems to be lost on most of you. I'm not angry. If I didn't like this page and didn't think it had something positive to offer BR fans I wouldn't waste my time typing. Unfortunately, the arguments (and attacks) you all pose seem to have little to nothing to do with my original argument. I love your "one simple word" argument RatGuy. If it's so simple why are you attacking me? Am I misusing the word? Every "simple" word you use should be used knowing that its meaning will effect those who hear it. I don't understand why you get so personally offended by being challenged.

Ooh you're angry now. One simple word has caused your blood to boil. Relax, you're all upset over this not being news when everyone else on this site has known for an indefinite amount of time that news may be the heading, but most postings are far from it. I never said this was actual news. Just get over yourself and your nazi way of wanting everything exactly your way when others have peacefully accepted it for what it is. No, it's not news. But if you don't want to waste time and bandwidth you'd have the intelligence to read the title and summary of the posting and the presciense to distinguish it from real news. Look at the title. Cover of festival-Generator. I'm sorry, but I simply must question your intelligence if you opened this expecting to see anything except for what it is. I could refrain from name calling, but an argument such as yours really does deserve the addition of insult to injury. Jackass.

I'm sure I have plenty of spare time, but it only takes about 10 seconds a day to scan this URL http://tinyurl.com/g8q94 for new, interesting videos.
In case you didn't notice, all articles have TITLES. If the title contains the word "cover", it takes much less time to ignore the link than to post a long, presumptuous tirade about how precious your time is and you can't be bothered with anything that doesn't fit your idea of news.
You might as well call people names, because you're really an asshole anyways... and refraining from name-calling isn't going to hide the fact from anyone.

Stop complaining about what is News and what is not. Besides it doesn't take a lot of time to run into a cover so don't assume people have any amount of free time If you are uncertain how much they actually have. This may not be News but it's more revelant to the crap they show on the national news or on all the magazines people read about celebraties. So stop bitching about what is news and what's not.

Oh good, more people who have nothing better to do than call people names. What kind of "Bad Religion nut" finds this "News" that relates to the band Bad Religion. I believe you've missed the point of this SECTION of the page labeled NEWS. This isn't that hard to understand. The section labeled "News" on a site that has always been dedicated to "News" about the band Bad Religion should not be allowed to degrade into an endless parade of moronic Youtube covers. This has nothing to do with Bad Religion. Try thinking about your argument before you submit it. I have no problem with people covering Bad Religion, or people who find this interesting. My problem is that people seem to think this is "News". It's not. Period. I'll refrain from calling you names. If you really were a Bad Religion fan you're thinking would be a little more critical on the subject. If there were a section of the site called "Youtube Covers" than this would be perfectly acceptable.

I do believe you are missing the point of this page, which is to bring together Bad Religion fans with any sort of items of interest such as this. To berate Neil Davis for doing just that, defeats this purpose. Simply put, he found the item interesting and thought others might find it interesting as well. If you want real news, there are several other websites which contain actual news regarding different bands including Bad Religion which will dutifully inform you. You can also buy a subscription to Rolling Stone Magazine or Spin Magazine and have all sorts of news which you so sorely crave. Just leave us Bad Religion nuts to our own "news". Jackass.

More fascinating Bad Religion news. I want to know what the lead singer of this band had for breakfast before recording this magnificent cover? What type of shoes does he wear? I'm sure it all relates to Bad religion in some round-about way. Hey Neil...You apparently have way to much time your hands, or else you wouldn't be able to locate these incredibly well done Bad Religion covers. Find out all of these facts and anything else you can about this band that in anyway can be remotely connected to Bad Religion. Once you've compiled the list please send in each individual item as "News" about Bad Religion. I can tell you for a fact that no one thinks it's trite, vapid, or a total waste of time and bandwidth. Excuse me, I have to go dig through a bag of potato chips. I think I saw one that resembles Greg Graffin...
