Just because it's a rarely played song, live, and I probably won't have many more chances to see them play before they put up their gear.

whether or not something is progressive is entirley up to someone's viewpoints, so technically there is no right or wrong there.
however, cynic is right in terms of the punk movement and how it originally started, but like many others (rock, techno, maybe even noise in the coming years), such movements change across years.
that be my 2 cents thar, srys.

Damn. Everytime I hear Tested's Part III performance I get bummed out just knowing that I'll never get to see them play that song live.

I was speaking of the progression from the music to the lyrics. There is a complex thought process behind my statement that wasn't explicit. I also think you should lay off the narcotics.

that's right Neil, power chords are very musically complex and progressive. shut the fuck up you stupid fucking bastard and find some more shitty news or something. Jesus. I love BR, but i can't stand punk fans who think punk is some epic goddamn progressive movement. the whole point of punk starting was that it wasn't progressive, it was music that anyone could play.

No it's not.
I think punk is highly progressive, thank you very much. Classical only serves as a foundation.

I do get touchy when people make absolutely no sense but try to talk down to others in the process. Yea, that's slightly annoying. Try not to be so defensive Danny.
Tommy, what research brought you to such a conclusive finding?
Neil, classical->punk? that's actually working backwards.

All you people who say you will learn your future kids bad religion songs at a young age, are not different from parents who raise their children with religious songs/story's about what is right and wrong. But after the age of 12 it is okay, I think

Hey, calm down sufferboy. Nobody ever said he was damaged by it. If you look at my posting I actually stated he probably doesn't know what he's saying. Though I do agree with you about the TV comment, perhaps you should lighten up please.

I couldn't picture myself having my kid listening to Bad Religion.
I'd probably start him off with classical, blues, and shit like that, then work him up to Bad Religion.

Cool kid. And dont you worry about a kid knowing it. He?s good, not a genius but good. And its not bad in any way (except his parents forced him to do it) that he sings these lyrics. Let him watch 3h of tv and he?ll be alot more damaged.
And lighten up. Cheers

Danny, what are you talking about? Think outside the box? In context of what? You were bitching about some moral dilemma you were having about a 5 year old knowing the words to a song, I was responding to the rightclique's comment about the child being a genius. I was not talking to you.
Try actually reading the words on the page. It can be tricky but, yah know, sometimes that "in the box" stuff works out a lot better.

sfdg, nobody doubts that. But that wasn't really the issue I was mentioning. We all realize that it's nothing more than word retention. A 5 year old kid doesn't know what "the books of history" are. Try thinking outside the box.

Am I the only one disturbed by the fact that an innocent 5 year old was taught such a vivid, catastrophic song? Its cool to a degree, and he probably doesn't know what he's saying but still...

This kid will be the 2nd in a line of bands carrying on the BR flame, the first consisting of myself, neil davis, global citizen, and su.
We will be called Badder Religion and Baddest Religion, or BR 2.0 and BR 3.0, respectively.
Conan is better at making predictions than I.

the kid actually knows the line "a mother holds a dying child and no one is concerned"..... that blows my mind .... i wonder what the level of comprehension is on this. i assume its very low, but the fact that he has the ability to retain this information is fairly amazing, since much of the language in the song is pretty non-standard for a five year old. i can only assume he is some kind of genius. i only knew the words to funny songs when i was a kid. i had no interest in rock music or music with a message.
