It was actually Brian not Hetson but some lessons from Brooks would be good, yes.

Brooks is amazing. If I can be even 10% as good at drums as Brooks is, then I'll be a very happy man indeed.
I think we need some drum lessons with Brooks ala the guitar lesson YT videos with Hetson...

No, he's not.
I guess you never touched a drumkit in your whole life... You may dislike his kinda flashy playing style, but technically he's an outstanding player and quite inventive in this limited punkrock context. Wackerman deserves all the praise for the intro of Sorrow alone.

Brooks will go down as helping to further the BR legacy with his orgasmic drumming. I will tell his story to many a grandkid as we use the holosuites to visit BR shows from the early 00's.
Ha Ha... hologay'd.

Good point Bigbang. I think Brooks has been listening to more BR albums.

What I like about Brooks' drumming on New Maps of Hell is that he actually combines his own style with what both Pete Finestone and Bobby had best. Some drum rolls remind me of Finestone's swift rolls, while some snare hits remind me of Bobby's heavier style.

Stinger66: In complete awe? Bobby's drumming wasn't THAT good.

Stinger66 - I agree with you in a sense. Stranger Than Fiction was, by far, the best Bobby era BR album.

Punk Rock Song and Spirit Shine, I thought, were two songs that contained some of Bobby's best work. I remember playing Spirit Shine for my buddy who was a drummer and he sat there in complete awe.

I agree but only partly, 'cause The Gray Race has pretty repetitive drums. Brooks owns New Maps of Hell, his drumming skills never cease to amaze me.

The Answer is one of their best songs. I wish they'd play it more (along with Faith Alone). I never hear anyone wanting these songs! :(

Mr.A - I agree with you in a sense. Hear me out, but it always seems that when BR gets a new drummer, it takes them until about the third one to really show their colors. Look at Bobby. Generator and Recipe we're OK, but on STF and Gray Race, Bobby rocked the house! Myabe it's a natural progression of a new drummer with BR? I, for one, think this is Brooks best work with the band.

Musically they can compare, but not lyrically. Each song has a different purpose lyrically. The Answer pushes a message while Honest Goodbye puts you in a characters point of view. Honest Goodbye is a bit more esoteric while listening casually.

You are right Mr. A, but i would also like to say that the comeback of Brett made the band sound much more compact. And i think that the trio Baker-Hetson-Bentley is just perfect for the band. I think that they are the perfect band because everyone knows what's their best and show it out there.
cheers from Argentina!

Every reviewer who points out the reunion with Brett and the return to Epitaph, but omits the rejuvenating effect of Brooks Wackerman's playing for the Bad Religion sound, fails.
