Actually, Brett could make significant difference to New Dark Ages live. When that lead-thing is rolling it's 3 guitars playing different stuff (the rythm guitar; the guitar playing the lead + the guitar playing a harmony over the lead (that guitar is missing live)). Really miss that harmony in those liveversions I've seen on YouTube. Just my opinion.

Wow... do you remember BAD RELIGION without Brett? There was absolutely No Substance (Pun) to their sound. Brett takes BAd Religion to a much more true-punk level.

Actually he plays with them whenever he can. That's a big difference from only doing it when he feels like it.

I can hardly blame Brett for not doing the whole tour with Bad Religion. Like previously said, its not like he's adding anything but his presence on stage when he's playing live. And his implication with the band is still great... he made more interviews than Graffin in the past few months, plus he posted here quite often.

You must be on crack, fucking n00b! Does anyone here consider "StevenF" to be a BR fan? Not me.

As for Brett playing live shows: he's performing the occasional solo, his background vocals are an integral part of BR's live sound and he simply has stage presence. I've seen Bad Religion more times without Brett than with him, but for me, a BR show without Brett still feels a bit, well, Incomplete (pun intended).

Even if it weren't for Epitaph responsibilites, I'm sure Brett doesn't need the road life anymore, with its ever-present temptation to use lots of drugs and alcohol. I think he's better off doing what he does and I have enormous respect for the man. He'll usually play shows in Los Angeles because he doesn't have to travel anywhere. I'm thinking about flying out just to see one of their upcoming hollywood shows.

Fucking duh. Not only have I seen all those videos, I listed one in my comment. I think I was half asleep when I posted that. I feel retarded.

I saw him once in San Francisco right before they did the DVD at the Hollywood Palladium. It's exciting because it's Mr. Brett himself, but it wears off because he doesn't do anything he used to, such as his old solos and riffs or even shake his head in time to the music (you remember, he closed his eyes and shakes his head like he's saying "no"). Baker and Hetson do everything, Brett just melds into the background. I don't miss him on stage, but I'm glad he's writing for BR again.

so what stevenf, if the band is ok with it, what do you care? without brett there probably would be no bad religion after the new america. stop whining about why he is not touring and be thankfull that he is back on the boat and helped bring the band back on course. its not like three guitars on stage will make a big difference in sound. it didnt make any when i saw them all on stage.

Brett usually doesn't tour due to his responsibilities at Epitaph. On occasion he will play certain shows within driving distance of his home in L.A. I don't believe he has played with the band outside of the U.S. since he originally left in the mid nineties.

Okay. A bit off topic question now. Could somebody hardcore please explain this for me, still not 100%...

-Why isn't Brett touring with the band?
-How long has he been off tour?
-He plays shows occasionally (so I've noticed). Are these randomly selected?
-Has he played with the band outside of US?

Yup, Strung Out are great live, seen them a couple of times during the mid 90ies. I'd watch them again for Jordan Burns alone, amazing drummer.

The promo mini-tour that Brett participated in, with a very good bootleg of the D?sseldorf show out there (radio recording). I'm still pissed that I wasn't able to see Bad Religion with Brett onstage since 1992.

I'm still trying to like Honest Goodbye... At this point I would rather see a full length ITU psychedelic acid trip movie. Personally I think NMOH works perfectly without Honest Goodbye although I understand the sing along factor for festivals, but I know every encore from now on will involve Honest Goodbye, Infected, and Sorrow. Yay.

The more I listen to this song, the more it sounds like an unlikely new festival favorite or a new classic ala infected, american jesus, etc. which is odd since it goes against a lot of the classic BR sound but sounds great imo.

And as far as BR videos are concerned: Atomic Garden, American Jesus and Los Angeles Is Burning are by far their best IMO. Stranger Than Fiction is quite strange but cool, too.

I've seen the Beatsteaks in Karlsruhe yesterday for my first time, excellent live (and studio) band, they deserve all the success they have right now. Obviously it was a great move to sign them to Epitaph. A Beatsteaks / Bad Religion tour would be kinda great, although I wouldn't want BR to play second fiddle and support them, at least here in Germany.

yeah the raise your voice video is actually ok imo... and american jesus is probably my favorite of their videos. one of the worst is the video for Infected... its pretty terrible

nah i like the Sorrow video but Struck a Nerve is the best video! broken is probably their worst video.

Jay Bentley's sex video is the best I've ever seen. Way better than Brian's.

I hope they'll do the pirates on a ship with nofx and a jay-alien-spaceship idea someone had a few weeks ago. I think the worst Bad religion video is "raise your voice". Stupid campino asshole. I like atomic garden and struck a nerve. Those videos really go with the songs.

As long as its not another band in gritty/cool looking room video as so many (BR or not, although Sorrow and Broken come to mind) videos are. I still think the "punk vomiting action" Greg Graffin doll from the New America video takes the cake. I would kill for that whole playset.

why do they always make videos for their slow songs? for example for the last 3 albums: broken,sorrow,los angeles is burning and now honest goodbye. its not that i dont like these tunes, i love every song theyve made since they first started as a band, but i find it quite boring. why dont make a video for grains of wrath? before you die? new dark ages? the grand delusion?

It's not out yet, because Greg is touring with Warped tour. Brett is working with the editors, but Greg wants final approval before its release, so it'll probably be out next month
