This isn't the first time BR has played Acoustic Xmas or KROQ's Weenie Roast. As much as I hate KROQ, it was "RODNEY on the ROQ" who first played BR in the early 80's on Kroq. In retrospect was that "selling out"? KROQ brought punk rock to LA & OC... Anyway, yeah it is a fucking benefit for local charities; mostly for children. And to answer Bhutan, KROQ usually do webstreams of their shows.

Look Nerds, when I say I don't care what kind of shows they play I mean that I'm not going to stop listening to their music just because they play a lame bill or do some other thing that doesn't appeal to me. Most of what they've done is awesome, and for that they keep my attention. As far as being anti-establishment, I realize that term is a bit outdated but how could you say it doesn't apply? From 'You Are the Gov't' to 'Sinister Rouge,' it's all about a certain discontent. I've met a few of the guys and they're genuinely nice, especially to fans after a show. I don't think they're "close minded asses," I think Mr.Brett can be a bit didactic online. Those songs you list, you're right; and they're all Graffin tunes. Brett offers "Hooray for me and fuck you." I don't think they're asshole rock stars, I just think it's ok to say "I'm not down with that" without having to cancel my subscription to Bad Times.

Are you Kidding me? Now you "dont care what kind of shows they play"? Do you realize that immediately after that sentence you proceeded to whine about how lame warped tour is and how the show is lame cuz you only get 30 minutes of BR? And as far as "pretending to be Anti-establishment": Could you please describe how they are anti-establishment? What does that even mean anymore? Oh and about them being close minded asses who demand that you agree with everything they say. I can think of at least 3 BR songs that manifest the complete opposite of the people you describe.
No direction
Leave mine to me
The Answer
I have seen BR 14 times and even though I personally disagree with a lot of their beliefs, I never once felt unwelcomed from one of their shows. I've the band, including Brett, and they're all nice guys. Certainly not the asshole rockstars you think they are. Maybe you should live in LA. You'd certainly get more exposure to them and wouldn't have such a biased opinion.

I don't really care what kind of shows they play, these are just comments. I used to sit through hours of painfully bad Warped Tour nonsense just to see 30 mins of BR cuz I love their music. I didn't do it this year because it's just not worth it to me, although it was still a tough decision. For me there's a threshold for what I'll put up with to see a band and shows like this one cross it. For me. Situations like this just give me cause to think, "man, that sucks. I'm glad I don't live in LA." SOLD used to have the same problem, getting to see BR 15 times a year but having to endure a lot of crappy music to do it. It's not that I want them to play tiny obscure music in tiny obscure places, let's just say I'm grateful that when I get to see BR every 3 years it's for 90 minutes in a normal venue.

"it does absolutely nothing for their image or their message. It's a bit embarassing."
Yeah Im sure their image is going to be devastated if they play a charity show with a couple popular rock bands. And as far as the "message" goes....Does their message carry any more weight if they play in some hell hole no one has ever heard of as opposed to the Gibson Ampitheatre? If you're so embarrased just stay home.

Talk too much? No action? This is a website where people comment about Bad Religion. I don't know what else you'd expect. And good intentions and a good cause doesn't change the fact this is a terrible line-up.

actually, the kroq show is a benefit to raise money for local charities. none of the bands get paid anything. so we do it because it is a good cause and kroq has been very supportive of our band for over 20 years, long before the existence of linkin park, or any of the other bands for that matter. you talk too much, and talk - action = 0.

No, if BR were concerned with making original music they'd be fugazi. ZING!
Look man, I have been a longtime fan of BR and always defended their musical nuances ("Suffer and No Control sound TOTALLY different, dude!"). I realize that some members of the band have set a standard that says if you don't agree with every word they say then you're worthless as a fan, so I don't blame you for, say, shelling out tons of money to see BR pretend to be anti-establishment next to a bunch of hairspray alt metal phonies.

wahhhh wahhhh wahhh br is embarassing themselves, br has turned into a band that keeps company with likin park!!!
you know what if br can reach some new people who listen to the crap bands that kroq plays then more power to them. br needs some new fans who don't fault them for playing gigs and making some money while doing it. If you are waiting for br to get into a time machine and go back to 1982 and be that young scrappy band who played shitholes then it sucks to be you. If br can grow up and progress with not only their sound and personal growth, then you as a real fan should be cool with them doing these type of gigs. br doesn't owe you a damn thing. If br were that concerned about image and message they would be fugazi.

Man, I sure hope BR gets paid a LOT to play these shitty radio shows, cuz it does absolutely nothing for their image or their message. It's a bit embarassing.
