I agree about the royalties thing. The standard split is that the songwriter(s) get twice as many royalties as the non-songwriting members of the band. But royalties aren't the only source of income for a band... you'd be surprised at how much of a band's income is made up from merchandising. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that even with the standard royalties split Bobby should still have made a reasonable amount of money from the band... especially considering that BR were on an unusually good deal at Atlantic Records due to their relatively high profile when they signed the deal. Of course, Bobby could have blown all the money that he made from the band, many people in that situation do. Or he may just be doing it to keep busy as nr23se says. Anyway, I hope if Bobby's arm is better that he gets to play in a band again... he could show a lot of flashier drummers a thing or two about playing for the song.

you're right martin, i can't say for sure, but seeing as how they stopped putting who wrote each individual song on TESF, we can only assume they follow the standard agreement... the money goes to the owners of the intellectual properties, which is always the writer or writers

"That sucks. they should split the money evenly. everyone adds something to the music. i dont consider this to be punk rock!"
You know there's a thing called "royalties" right? Crap about "being punk" doesn't pay the bills.

What I want to know is what was a BR fan doing at an Interpol show? I thought I was the only one out there with BR, Dead Kennedys, and Citizen Fish in constant rotation alongside Joy Division, Bauhaus, and Morrissey.

um, that would be nice in a perfect world, but the writers make most of the money, and that'll alwasy be greg and brett...

That's pretty depressing that one of the most influential punk drummers of all time is having to make a living as a roadie these days. Don't get me wrong, Brooks is a far better drummer... but Bobby's a legend! You'd think he would have made enough money in the Bad Religion years for a nice retirement...
