10 songs to be "legally" considered an album? Really? According to what governing body? Is this a state or federal regualtion? United States law or European? Or Asian or African? Hmmm. I always thought it was total length in minutes that dictated what something was. I mean, yeah- most albums have ten songs or more, but many have less. Ministry's "The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste" had nine songs, and The Sisters of Mercy's "Vision Thing" is eight songs. Last time I checked they were both albums. Oh, and how many separate songs are on Lou Reed's (suck ass) "Metal MAchine Music"? That one's a double album.

I always considered an ep to me 10-15 minutes and an lp to me approximately twice that, or more (remember, vinyl only supports 48 minutes or whatever, and that was how things were originally oriented). That means, that technically a double album CAN FIT ON A SINGLE CD. A good example is Tommy, by the Who, which was a double album on vinyl, but at about 78 minutes, just fits on a single cd. Also, (except New America and No Substance together) you can fit any 2 studio albums by BR together onto a single cd, so...
For a Bad Religion double lp i would expect anywhere from an hour of music to 75min. Assuming this is composed of music in similar length to TESF, this is between 21 and 25 songs, ENTIRELY doable, but, if i say so myself, unlikely.
In any case, i would expect thsi "double album" to be 2 vinyl records, but one cd, and i am cool with that. Nearly twice as much music is still awesome! I got really excited writing this, so here's hoping!!!

Yeah, Pink Floyd released...2 full length albums with only 5 songs, and one with only 6, so...you can't call a 46 minute 5 song disc an ep.

Most people consider it to be 8 or 9 tracks. There are a lot of albums that completely shatter those rules.

"In order to be called a full-length, it must be 10 tracks, anything less is considered an "EP". That's just how it is"
That's not totally true, because many of Led Zeppelin's LPs had only eight or nine tracks.

It's not a set in stone rule. People like to think there's specific rules for eps, lp, double albums (I guess, that one is new to me). There's always some variant that breaks the "That is how it is period rule"

Maybe they plan just a normal, 35-minutes album, but with a bonus disc, containing live show, early demos, re-recorded stuff etc.? I'd go for that :)

for them to legally call it a double album under the regulations of the recording industry, it would have to have 20 tracks. 10 per CD. Period. Doesn't have to do with the time length of the album
Same for single discs. In order to be called a full-length, it must be 10 tracks, anything less is considered an "EP". That's just how it is

If the songs were as long as the one's on TESF, (which was around 40min) they could probably fit 22-24 songs on one disc in total. So if the next album requires two discs, i would assume it would be because one disc lacked sufficient space. So it would probably need to weigh in at at least 35 songs or so to warrant the second disc. Thats alot of songs. Assuming the song lengths are what they usually are for BR. Could it be packaged with American Lesion 2? That would explain having two seperate discs.

I would really enjoy a disc from graffin and gurewitz.
Didn't Outkast do that?
Either way, it's a cool idea.
