Today on Facebook Jay posted a short update from their current tour with Rise Against. Ten more shows to go with Rise Against, before they will head to Europe for the summer tour.
Apparently they will be heading down to Australia later this year! More details to follow.
"rolled into philly this morning, spending the next 3 days here. definitely going to the mutter museum this time! these shows with rise against and four year strong have been awesome. great crowds and a really great group of guys to tour with. thanks to everyone who came out, especially all those fans of rise against who had never seen us before, we've met some really awesome people and are always humbled by how open everyone is to hearing something new. 10 more shows here in the states and it's off to europe. been finishing up the dates the last few days...
http://www.thebrpage.net/shows/
after that we'll be heading down to australia, and working on where we go from there, but thats too far in the future.
special thanks to the cow in boston. made my night!

So yeah. Obviously I am touchy about this subject. If you didn't already know about this then know now. It really sucks living so far away that you only get to see BR once on a tour (if you're lucky). It seems to me that it's generally taken for granted by those of you who can travel from one state or city to another following the band on parts of their tours, and seeing them more than once, or at least having that opportunity to do so (maybe that's an assumption I'm making, but sometimes it really seems that way). BR visit Akl and then leave. And that's it for me, a 6 hour drive back home (which is cheaper than flying unless I book well in advance).
I know what you mean, I'm in a simmilar situation. To see a band that I like, Vienna would be the closest place to go... and that's 1200 km away. I usually go alone, so the cheapest way to get there is by train. It takes 19 hours, if there are no delays, and then another 19 hours to get back (although I'm not really sure why I keep comming back).
And a trip like that, costs me about how much I earn in a month
I feel for you. It was a similar situation when I lived at the bottom of New Zealand (Invercargill) - Flying was the only option. Train or car meant crossing the Strait between Nth and Sth Island - that would have just added to the cost. But 19 hrs on a train is ridculous. Any fan who did that for me i'd being giving freebies to, something just as a show of appreciation. I'm in awe of you for making that commitment.

Guess we'll just do it that way.
Right. It's the person who is pissed off and expressing themselves that's a dick. Not the person who has made a gross assumption about another person, not the person who posts a youtube vid in reply to that expression. Try not being a dick by antagonising the situation with a youtube vid!
@frod: It seemed to me that your original post was defending me, and I appreciate that, but unfortunately it did make that assumption that i could just jump on a plane and fly to another country. I just don't have those resources available to me.

So this post is just letting you know how I feel, and certainly not a 'hate you' post to anyone. It just urks me that the situation exists. I mean fuck, Helmet, who probably have an even smaller fan base in NZ are playing 2 gigs in June.
Yeah, i was just playing around.

wow. note to self. never exaggerate in Warstub's direction. ever. again.
I shouldve added the following disclaimer:
**Statement made with the following gross assumptions:
1. Bad Religion's list of tour dates for Australia were available and confirmed
2. Bad Religion's tour dates included a stop in an Austalian city close to you
3. Bad Religion's tour dates excluded a New Zealand tour stop, but as no such information is available, it is assumed that there isn't.
4. Travel to and from New Zealand was feasible, reasonable, and affordable.
5. Travel to and from New Zealand was something you were ready, willing, and able to do.
6. Comment made directed at another page member's response
criticizing said member's nit-pickiness and had no intent of causing
or intending to cause personal damage, hurting of feelings, or irrevocable
pain and suffering. No true questioning of BR Page member's fan loyalty
intended in the above statement.

Fuck you.
Well aren't you happy little kiwi today. Get fucked yourself.
Oh yeah, that's right. I'm not allowed to feel pissed off at the expectation that I'm supposed to travel miles over land and sea to see a band in another country when it would be far easier and far less bank-breaking for said band to visit my country. Why is frod's comment "Let's see how big a fan he is" instead of "lets see how committed to their less paid-attention fans the band is"?
