The Roxy Theatre, located at 9009 West Sunset Blouevard in West Hollywood, CA., is considered a historic rock music venue in the United States. It is still in operation today.
The Roxy opened in 1973 by four local investors, one of them being David Geffen, owner of Geffen Records. The Roxy hosted music acts such as: Neil Young, Jerry Lewis, The Temptations, Frank Zappa, Genesis, and The Ramones. It also hosted young and rising comedians including David Letterman, Jay Leno and Paul Reubens (playing "Pee Wee Herman" for the first time). The Roxy was the birthplace of The Rocky Horror Show in 1974, which later became The Rocky Horror Picture Show. In 2010, AOL City presented the Roxy with the award of "Best Live Music Venue in Los Angeles."[1]
Bad Religion has played The Roxy on three occasions: The No Substance North American tour on May 6, 1998, a Process of Belief promo show on January 25th, 2002, and a pre-show for the Age of Unreason tour on April 5th, 2019.[2]
