The Red Rocker is the nickname for Brett's red sticker-covered guitar. The Red Rocker gets on every album.
Specifications
It's a single-pickup Charvel that he bought in 1989 while on tour in Boston because his guitar was stolen the night before. He went into the nearest music store and bought it. Over the years, he swapped things off it out of necessity. In 2013 the neck was an unfinished ESP maple neck with a maple fretboard that has jumbo frets. Because it went out of tune a lot, he replaced the stock tuners with some high-quality Schaller tuning machines. The tone knob circuitry is disconnected, so the signal path is even more direct from the pickup to the amp. Brett normally leaves tone knobs wide open, so it just made sense on this one-pickup monster. He also put in a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge position, which all his Les Pauls have. According to Brett, everything he has done to it ended up making it sound like a brighter Les Paul.[1]
