Here's a great review by Misi Borsi from the Groezrock Festival


2006.04.29. Belgium, Meerhout ? in the middle of nowhere ? the 15th anniversary Groezrock Party was held! I was damn lucky to be there indeed, the concert was all in all really great, though the soundings were not always the best! Actually the whole Groezrock was quite infamous about its soundings and technique in some cases, however, this years Bad Religion will still be one of my favorite shows! I saw them for the 5th time already ? I saw them in my home country, Hungary for the first time in 1998 (warped tour europe) and i saw them for the last time in Wiesen, Austria in august this last year during the TESF tour! This show was much better for sure, not just because they played the song Gray Race (which I really like and never heard live), but i felt that the whole show (groezrock) was somehow a meeting of the oldies ( Joey Cape, Tony Sly, Fat Mike, bands like Sick Of it All and Dropkick Murphys) where they sort of gave a true respect to Bad Religion that was definetly nice to see! Fat Mike even mentioned Bad Rel as the best Punk Band of ALL AGES during the Me First and The Gimme Gimmes concert!
Okay, now i guess im gonna write some lines ?bout the Bad Religion gig itself as well! After the settings by the roadies (Hetson set his guitar by his own!), the band appeared on stage, surprisingly without the Overture ( and too bad, they didnt play Sinister Rouge), but as a sort of an intro, Baker started to play the riffs of the song Recipe for Hate in a slow way, while all members got to there places. Finally they blasted out with Recipe and I found myself in the front row in like 10 seconds I think the setlist was pretty good, although, some songs i really missed were PRS, No Control, Sinister Rouge and Atomic Garden! During 21st Century dig Boy, Fat Mike jumped on stage and attacked Gregs mic from the back of him and sang along few lines (?but now, i really dont know?.?), that I actually kind of expected (i think that the same thing happened at the warped tour ?impossible to download ? calgary video 2004) but still it was a huge fuckin moment in my life Fat Mike was drunk as hell, he ran up and down behind the stage during the show a few times and joked with tony sly and the singer of Me First! I even catched a moment when he really enjoyed the breakdown part of Infected and sing along the yeahyeahyeah part! Some other bands members were checking brooks?s insane ?drumgame? from behind, while others seemed to enjoy the show as well! Baker did a great solo on Epiphany, i think my favorite part of the show was when they played I Want to Conquer the World, Come join us ? greg put his arm on brians shoulder during the beginning - , Genarator, and American Jesus! I got over the crowd somehow and surfed around about 8 rows after which i fell off on my elbow during the ?one nation under god?outro but i only noticed my injuries after the show, i guess i was quiet in an ecstasic feeling Greg made some jokes about being in the middle of nowhere, actually on the top of a pile of shit (seriously) and told us that this was a 2months tour with 3 stops (Japan, L.A., Groezrock) and 25000 miles!!! Jay couldnt sing the whole rap-like part in Let them eat war, he actually broke out laughing in the middle of it (dont know why)! Oh yeah, and whatthefuck!!!!!!! They didnt play Do what you Want!!!!! Now that was a shame! All in all, it was a great show with a lot of great moments, i?ll surely not forget it, it was damn worth being there! I Hope to see them ASAP, god damn it, they are still my fuckin favorite band! I bought the Palladium DVD as well (in a merch tent from some guy - hell these guys didnt even bring merch with themselves!!! ? which is really cool, though i noticed that Brett wears glasses and does not wear any during the same song in like three or more tracks! Otherwise its truly a summary of the bands carrier, Just as this show in Belgium! As Graffin said, i would just say exactly the same :? i hope to see them next time along the way? !

(at the beginning of Epiphany Greg said that the intro of the songs sounds somehow familiar to him, and he?s sure that he has heard this before, then looked at jays bass guitar and said: is something stickin in my eye or what?:D (for the less educated: stickin in my eye is a nofx song thats got quite the same bass part but in a different rythm)
