they are totally right about the fast cutting in the DVD. I hate that crap in action movies, and I hated the Palladium DVD for it. I would rather see the musicians, the kids in the crowd, or whatever for a solid 5 seconds so that I can focus in and observe all the little details. forget those one second cuts. I hope they rerelease the DVD someday.

Brooks uses a double kick pedal when playing.A little too metal me.I'm not too impressed with him for that.I call that cheating.

Change from 16ths to 32nds is not what I'm talking about. I sure know the songs that well.

"...but listen to Sinister Rouge and Sosial Suicide on LATP and see what I mean."
Nah - all he's doing is changing from 16ths to 32nds - watch the intro of RFH for a better example. He always comes in on-time, so what's the problem?
He does occasionally over-play, but I found that's at the start of the show then he settles into it. I just love the breakdowns and fills he comes up with - Generator is a great example.
Every BR drummer suited their time. Pete was raucous and very rough, Bobby was slower, controlled and smooth, and Brooks is refined, fast and very, very innovative. A great drummer for each era of Bad Religion.

Let's face it,
Brooks is a really good drummer but I personally can't sit through any more BR shows listening to him destroy and FUCK UP some of their best songs of the past 26 years. All this intricate progressive overplaying bullshit is like having Neil Peart of Rush playing for the Ramones or Terry Bozzio playing for the Sex Pistols.UGH!!!!!!!!!
Sorry but that's just my opinion
Do or die.

I agree that there's no point in allways playing like the record, but I've heard many times that he actually rush the beat. That's one of the most basic things not to do when your a drummer, and it surprises me. I'm no perfectionist and I understand that a punkrock show isn't about perfection, but listen to Sinister Rouge and Sosial Suicide on LATP and see what I mean.

Brooks is awesome. He does what any drummer should - improvise, innovate and play with pure passion. There is no point, and no fun, in playing exactly the same as a record night after night. Bobby did this, and after awhile it got dull. Brooks really livens it up and gives the rest of the band the energy to play as they do now.
For a comparision, do a YouTube search for Recipe For Hate - watch Bobby, then Brooks - Bob plays like the record, Brooks doesnt but stays true to it. THAT is the mark of a top-class drummer.
I'm out.

I hear ya. Nowadays selectable camera angles should be a must in any music DVD. I would have loved to watch the whole performance with the camera on Brett.
