Warped, after finishing off the 80's era Greg mentioned how they were moving through their "pre-adolescent years" and later how it was difficult to stay alive during the grunge years because punk rock wasn't that popular. He made a joke to Brett about how recipe for hate was written to celebrate the 400 hundredth anniversary of Columbus sailing to America, ha ha. Then he completely skipped over NS and NA without even a mention. My favorite part was during the encore: Greg came out and said that their memory must be fading with old age because they weren't done chronologically because they have a new album coming out. Thats about all I remember but there was more dialogue that is escaping me right now.

However, I have trouble distinguishing even what part of the song they're on in these videos so maybe it's for the best.

Man, who records No Control, Infected, and American Jesus when the band plays a new song that no one has heard before and Slaves, a song they haven't played in like 15 years?

100% sure they played slaves first because I started freaking out when it started. "were all slaves under stricter masters" I enjoyed Greg's commentary as they moved through the ages of their lives. Poor Sue though because her mic had no vocals and I couldn't hear her sing at all. And Optim, there were only six on stage, I don't know who the seventh was.

Anyone else crossing their fingers for live performances of The Positive Aspect, Don't Pray On Me, Walk Away, Victory, Live Again and Chimaera sometime in the near future?
Oh, and look at Sue's Myspace. According to that (In her Lastfm bit), she's been listening to Heroes and Marytrs quite a bit recently.

Maybe you guys are right about Slaves, I just missed what it was because I kept thinking about how much the audio sucked... I was over on the Baker side, and could barely tell that Brett's mic was even on.
Yes, Brett was there, he rocked.
I also expected Broken in there, just seemed like it would fit in right there.
I think it was Su who did the rap (which I couldn't hear because she used Brett's mic, which I wasn't even sure was on.) She works for Epitaph, and she did the same thing when they played at the Canyon Club in the fall of '05.
Heroes and Martyrs sounded very Process of Belief-ish. I can't wait to hear the rest of the new stuff.

I don't think it was Slaves, unless I seriously missed something... They did We're Only Gonna Die, Fuck Armageddon and Along The Way. I was kind of surprised that they didn't do Struck a Nerve, and only did 2 songs from TESF - I half expected Atheist Peace or Sinister Rouge.
It was a pretty cool show, but the audio really sucked.

Just got back from the Santa Monica show. They did their whole set chronilogically (starting with "Slaves and ending with "LA is Burning"). They let the crowd chant for about 5 minutes, then they did an encore. They played "Heroes & Martyrs" off the new album and finished with "Sorrow". All in all it was a very good show. My only disappointment was that they played nothing (as usual) off of No Substance or New America. Oh well, I'm not going to complain too much...

They were both extremely popular in the mainstream at different parts of the decade. But Green Day by far has been the most consistent. But to show Blink's popularity at the time, remember that Bad Religion opened for them on a three month tour in 1999. BR won't just open for anybody (i hope). And Oasis can suck my ass.

to the right click and danny: warning sold half a million copy's in the usa in 2000. And in 1999/2000 blink sold like 4 million copy's of the enema of the state and take off your pants. So at the end of the 90's blink 182 was more popular than green day. And I live in Europe and except for "minority", the other video's from warning were not on tv. And I wore a green day t shirt at school, and almost nobody knew who GD were.."Is that something like blink 182?". So blink was not around in that 1994 offspring/green day punkpop-explosion. But they were on top in the charts here in Europe in the late 90's, early 00's and green day wasn't.

Tommy you showed how young you are. You must not have been a teen in the early 90s and missed how huge Green Day was. Blink was NEVER as huge as Green Day. GD was the biggest band in the world in 94/95. save for U2 and Nirvana GD was the biggest band in the early 90s. Everyone liked em (even me, admittedly). Even people who liked rap music liked Dookie. Blink was only big with the mainstream 14 year old girls who thought they were punk rock.
Doesn't matter. Bad Religion has always been better than these two.

Blink 182 was NEVER as big as green day was in the 90s. blink's peak never reached green day's peak. of course, green day is now bigger than they EVER were, but dookie was ridiculously popular. insomniac not as much and nimrod more than both combined because of that one god damn song. warning was probably more popular than insomniac, but not much and everybody and their grandparents own american idiot, despite how horrifically shitty it is.

goddamn why does everyone have to complain about the line between pop-punk and punk rock? personally im not a huge fan of pop-punk, but i dont think it really matters... everyone has different musical tastes, and if SP, blink, etc all suck, dont listen to them and shut your mouth. your opinions of music matter to no one but yourself. enough said
