no, michael burkett is not a good singer at all. but they sound good on records because el hefe do awesome back up vocals, and it sounds really good when they together no matter how bad he sings.
like fat mike says himself, they are no bad religion, and could never be, but they have a few awesome albums.
some of them are not so awesome though, which fat mike himself often admits and even talks about in concert. nofx have undoubtedly become a better band by the years, and i love them for what they are: a not TOO talented band with awesome music.

NOFX frustrates the hell out of me. There's nothing inherently bad about them except that it seems as if Fat Mike is singing as bad as he possibly can cause that would be "more punk"

Actually Epitaph was nothing more than a logo on the record sleeves when they made HCHBAW and only started distributing records in 1987 when they signed L7. That quote came from Visions Magazine in 2006.
PS Why do people feel the need to try and insult each other here? It's not big and it's not clever.

ps greg graffin did think that. Here's a quote, "Brett and I were still in college when he decided to run Epitaph as a serious business. He invited me to the studio to sing background vocals for this band called NOFX. I had seen those guys live before and thought to myself: This is the worst band on the planet. And they were supposed to be the basis for Brett's label! Turned out to be a good decision after all.
OKAY SO DID YOU PULL THIS QUOTE COMPLETELY OUT OF YOUR ASS OR JUST MAKE IT UP? TWO MAJOR THINGS: BRETT NEVER WENT TO COLLEGE, HE DIDN'T EVEN GRADUATE HIGHSCHOOL..AND SECOND EPITAPH WAS A SERIOUS BUSINESS IN 1982 WHEN THEY RELEASED HCHBAW..AND BRETT HAD THAT HCHBAW REPRESS FOR DRUGS THINGY...AND THEY RELEASED THE VANDALS RECORD..THAT SAME YEAR...
That quote is bullshit. Thank you and have a nice day.

@simian. It was because of that song that I suggested BR did a song about NOFX.

I was disappointed by this new single... I expected something more, well, punk rock, older BR style... This is not a bad song, just not BR. Hope the rest of the album sounds better :-)

NOFX wrote a tribute song to BR, too. you can download it from me if you like. It was on their April 2005 7" Of The Month Club release.
http://www.neotericnews.net/ mp3/nofx.zip
I'm a huge fan of Bad Religion
I even bought a brown Fender Precision
Signing to Atlantic was a really bad decision, now they're back on Epitaph, hey. I bought "Suffer," then I bought a thesaurus. Then Graffin sang on S & M Airlines chorus. Now we hang out and party on each others' tour bus, 'cause the old bands know how to have fun.

Nah, especially El Hefe is a good guitarist, vocalist, trumpet player - great allround musician. "White Trash..." and "Punk In Drublic" were very good albums. I kinda lost track after "So Long..." though.
When Punk in Drublic came out in 1994, I thought Bad Religion wouldn't be able to top that album. Then I got my hands on a Stranger Than Fiction promo tape and was disabused.

Was Greg refering to NOFX's cover version of "Go Your Own Way" from S & M Airlines? That album is high-end progressive rock compared to their debut Liberal Animation...

Bad Religion should do a song about NOFX. Something along the lines of
"The first time I saw NOFX
They were the worst band I'd ever seen
No one in the crowd really cared for them
They couldn't sing or play their instruments"
to the tune of 13 Stitches.

Well, it isn't as much a message to the fanatics, but more to the casual listeners of BR. It was in the Epitaph Newsletter, after all.
And Rauen, your argumentation is so twisted I don't even know where to begin.

I hope there will be a music video. I was just watching "the new america" video. That one is so funny. especially the "punk vomiting mayhem". But I liked the idea of "ctrl+w". However, gwen stefani already did something like that. (not with NOFX, but with the pirateship)

I pretty much agree with Jau. I never would have bought a BR album if it weren't for the more "pop" songs played on KROQ. And I never would have found out how good the rest of their music is.

Heroes and Martrys would be an ideal single if the entire world consisted of bad religion fans.
Alas, this is not the case; honest goodbye makes more sense. Even if you do not like the song, you could admit it makes more sense if it was used as a single. I see it both as an interesting change of pace for a BR song (while heroes proves they are still in touch with their usual energy and sound), and an effective song/vehicle to catch the attention of potential fans and any new fans that may have come across bad religion from the TESF album.

Oops, I slipped up. Now Jay and Brett are gonna kick my ass. :(
I can't remember where I got it from, but I managed to get some .mpgs of the Big Bang video cassette, so I burned it to disk to make a DVD.
It's such an awesome show.

That's cool that we will be able to obtain a legal copy of a new BR track, but i think, despit "Honest goodbye" being a good song, that "heroes and martyrs would be a better song to pick as the first single off this album.

Music video?
Thinking caps on people!
I'm guessing it's gonna take place with the band playing live on a pirate ship, then Fat Mike appears and captures Graffin and takes him to his space ship. Then the rest of the band get into a giant Jay Bentley (He said he was a UFO on the Big Bang DVD), and then there is an epic battle in outer space between the NOFX space ship and Jay Bentley. Then, at the very end, the guys from NOFX shoot the Jay UFO, and then board it, taking over it. Then, as the Jay UFO flies away, the Suffer boy appears from behind a box in the Jay UFO, and hugs the guys out of NOFX, defeating them.
That's what I expect the video to be like though, I didn't go for the long shot or anything.

I think that's what happens when band members visit internet fanboards and read that they've ripped their song from a radio broadcast... yeah they have to sell their fishes, and, well that's what happens.. But calm down Brett, as a great bad religion's superfan, when the album comes out here surely i'll be one of the firsts who will buy it! But i'll download it first HEHE ('cause it takes at least 3 or 4 months or so to be released here in Brazil)
My TESF Copy has the AA1001 code, wich means, i think, that it's one of the first lot released (here)
