Just to steer this back towards the original topic...has any recording of this show surfaced??

As long as Bad Religon retrun to the punk-ish production value's of "How Could He'll Be Any Worse" on teh new album, I'm perfectly happy! We all know taht they tryd to sell out wit the totaly overproduced and slick '"Suffer" album, right? The songwriting and musicanship is just secondary of course. I mean, we all dont listen to punk rok because of 'teh art', right? - We are tru punk's and not nerd's after al! Dam, were is my sixpack?

hey mike, I am also concerned about jay or brett reading the comments from "fans" who are only posting things like: "no control rules! the new stuff is lame!". If I was in bad religion I would really feel screwed for working my ass off, trying to write something new, and get a "fuck you" afterwards, instead of a "thank you, that sounds amazing!"

haha well done simian, everyone came down a little hard. Anyone talking anything resembling shit about the new album is a pretty touchy subject nowadays. Int erms of "the well" I was simply referring to the religion vs science topic. We all know what Graffin's position is, it's probably time to move on or risk redundancy. Also, the progression I was referring to was perspective (wheras old BR is "you" songs, more recently there have been "I" songs). That's all, I sure as hell hope they all have a lot more gas in the tank.

I apologize for going off, I was actually pissed off about something else and just let it get into my comment. Anyway, I strongly disagree that "that well is almost dry." Has there really been topical progression in the last few albums? If so it's not very obvious. Either way, I have been pretty happy with almost everything Bad Religion has done and I don't want it to seem like I'm complaining about the songs. I think Heroes & Martyrs AND Honest Goodbye are great songs.
I doubt I'll abandon Bad Religion until they start writing songs about Geritol and Depends (which is still a ways off yet, I think).

touche Granny. I knew I was going to get burned for mentioning "art." I was trying to emphasize the fact that just because certain people like "old bad religion" the band doesn't owe them more music like that, but rather will produce what the band want for the band's reasons.

I love apples. I also love it when people agree to just like a band because they create their music for the right reasons; Not money or fame, but rather pleasure and art. Come what may with Bad Religion, but evolution, no matter how negative it sounds, is vital to longevity and success. Rock on.

Sorry for the rant, it's just starting to get frustrating how everyone is attacking everyone for liking or not liking the album. it doesn't matter if you like it or not. It is art. THEY ARE NOT DOING IT FOR YOU. They are doing it for themselves and if you like it, great, if you don't great, go listen to No Control, just don't post about how much you think the album is going to suck. No one wants to hear it, and I don't want Jay and Brett to bail on THIS board too because it's full of naysaying trolls.

You know, I haven't spent as much time on this site as I have recently, and frankly, it's astonishing to me how large a segment of fans there are here who are terrified of any change on the part of the band. God they've taken flack (unfounded i feel) for NOT changing, and now they release a single which both fits past trends (i.e. marketing) and what seems to be the general course of their creative progression (production and arranging styles) and people are freaking out!

Seriously, what do you expect? They are going to change, and it's been obvious for a while the direction in which they are moving! You don't have to like it, but fuck complaining about it is only going to discourage people. It's not going to be the band, they've been taking this shit for years and they're going to do the same they have always done. It only serves to poison what should be positive expectation for another great album. JEEEEEZ.

Sorry simian, that tirade wasn't directed at you (specifically), but Skeptic has a point. That well is almost dry. Fortunately the last few albums have shown topical progression.

Either way you shouldn't like the band based on their beliefs. That's not the point. time and again they (and others) have said to question and think independently. You shouldn't agree (necessarily) with every lyric of every song and every perspective. I sure as hell don't. What I like about Bad Religion is not the proposal of non-mainstream views, but rather the invitation (for me) to think critically about the issues being raised, and sometimes I disagree. Lapping up anyone elses political and social opinions is no better than consuming merchandise.

Skeptic, fuck you... some people actually like Bad Religion BECAUSE of Greg Graffin and his naturalist, atheist viewpoints. The music is great, of course, but the intelligent questioning that Greg weaves into the songs. The only thing fans like you are useful for is spending $$ on crossbuster merchandise so you can boost your punk credentials.

In a sense, I feel that writing books could be Greg's second carrier. Hell, that would be a good comprise if BR ever stops.

In a radio interview I downloaded (sometime after the release of The Empire Strikes First), Greg said he was planning on writing a book about how one can find meaning in a meaningless world. He also said the project got postponed because he built a library in his house instead.

Well there was "Is belief in God good bad or irrelevant" and his thesis...I thought he was planning on writing one more. I don't know, really.

You can get it for nothing on Soulseek (I don't like piracy, but it's the only reasonable way to get the album).

ITU was never officially mastered to CD. So anything that you buy is going to be a vinyl rip burnt to CD, therefore, the only benefits you're going to get over doing it yourself (for free) is a factory pressed disc, and perhaps the full artwork (if you are lucky). Of course, purchasing or not, buth are copyright infringement. I suppose its just a matter of whether you want to spend money for a physical product or not. Personally, if I was to spend ANYTHING on ITU (great album by the way), I'd save up and get a vinyl copy.

Well, basically you shouldn't support the bootleggers by buying ITU on cd... but since it most likely won't ever get released officially, I'd personally pay up to 20 euros/bucks for a factory pressed cd with nice artwork (and of course, great sound [remastered,as they usually claim them to be]). If I'm not mistaken, that seems to be the usual max. price for them on eBay (/the price that's reasonable to pay, since you can get a rip from a mint vinyl for free). Of course, if you want to buy one, be sure that the cd you're buying is a quality one. There are many crappy bootlegs out there (and now as I checked, there's some cheap bastard on eBay selling ITU on basic home burned cd-r:s for 3$... lol).

I'm not really sure...I'm betting it was the audience snippets of the aforementioned Berlin show...but the quality is neither great nor is it a very long recording...If it was some other show please share it! (even if it is crappy)

which recording was of the fucking idiot who decided to sing along with his god awful voice to EVERY damn song, even those he clearly didn't know the words to? It ruined the whole otherwise good recording... I played it for my friends and they got mad for him ruining what would be a great recording.

For those that may be interested, here is Greg's solo show with the weakerthans in Toronto. It is the "last" show of the tour, he refers to it as such himself, and it has electric and multiple instrument versions of the songs (including an electic Highway).

I recorded this show myself...the quality is probably a B-/B. You can take it or leave it, but it is to my ears the best quality *complete* concert recording of the tour. Certainly listenable, a romantic might even praise the sense of "atmosphere." :P

This show actually was the second show Greg did in Germany. In Berlin. The first one took place in a small club in Dortmund on May 2nd 2006. The setlist was identical though.

Thank you SO MUCH for the Graffin solo show in Germany - I just listened to the whole thing and it really made my night. I'm sure I'll listen to it relentlessly for a few days now. God Song is absolutely my favorite BR song ever, and hearing this quality recording of Graffin singing it acoustically really grabbed a hold of me. Thank you again.

I have video of Sorrow and Live Again done acoustically. I am working to knock the file size down (they are huge) and hosting them to be seen. Keep checking back, I should have them up soon.

When was this show even announced? I don't remember hearing about it at all.
Seems sort of strange that almost a year after the album has come out Graffin would be playing a solo show in Arizona of all places.

Note: This is the "first" solo show from the tour...In Germany, and it is JUST Graffin, no backing musicians whatsoever, so it isn't exactly a true reflection of the tour, but it is broadcast quality and a unique rendering of the songs. I think it's better that way anyway.
