What? Moderation on a message board of a punk rock band? How un-punk is that?! I mean, punk is about anarchy and no future and all, right?
Seriously though, did any of the Krauts around here post on the official board of the german Dragnet/Sony BR page during the Brett-less era? I did for a couple of weeks and it was less than pleasurable for the most part...

the BRMB was a lesson learned methinks for most fans... I personally don't mind what we've got going on here & the myspace page :D.

the old brmb and the especially the chat are a great example how few individuals can ruin it for everyone. but i also blame brett on it, cause he was giving to those idiots way too much attention, and at the same time not taking proper measures (no real working moderation). but well, it was fun and a good place to meet cool people, before the trolls took over.

The "Statistical Normal Law" is everywhere!
Even in BR'S fans personality!
Exemple:
I'M with stupid
------>
IT's bad... So bad...!

The lack of respect in the BRMB made me sick to my stomach. It is hard to believe that I shared a common interest with some of those people.

I love Bad Religion! I hated the BRMB with fury. Only satisfaction came to me through BR's decision to shut it down. It's love I tell ya. Love!

Wow, I just had a very odd moment. I've been away from my office for a couple weeks, and the trades have piled up. Imagine my surprise when I opened last Thursay's Daily Variety to find a list of upcoming CD releases, complete with a photo of Greg Graffin! There's a caption reading "Greg Graffin of Bad Religion".
Huh!

I hear you, it was really too bad. But really there wasn't any other choice. I lurked for a lot of the last days, because I didn't want to be associated with some of the crap going down. starting to sound familiar actually...

the brett issue was a far second to the intense flaming that any n00b received when they visited the page. that was the foremost reason we shut it down. as the band represented by the page, if someone who had just learned about the band went there and was promptly humiliated, it was only a reflection of our decision to allow it to continue. it was an easy choice to simply turn it off and prioritize our attention elsewhere.

I don't have a problem with discussions outside the topic of a board but that place got pretty out of hand. And there was no respect or appreciation of the band members when they posted. Mostly it became a forum to antagonize, provoke and denigrate Brett (unfairly, considering he not only participated but moderated the damn thing.)

From what I've heard, the BRMB wasn't really much of a BR message board.
Jay, can you please tell us some of the lyrics of New Chapter or something?
I just want to find out a little bit more about it.
Thanks. :)

And good riddance to the brmb, although it provided good fodder for a project about behaviour and anonymity on the internet. It's really too bad though, I hope there was some unabusable mechanism for interaction and feedback.

I like the path from epitaph.com to the myspace page. The myspace community board, however, is nowhere near as interactive as the BRMB had been. This site is good for interaction but still not close to the BRMB.

it's now a splash page to the myspace site. once the mb was gone, the badreligion.com site was no longer as interactive as we wanted, so we just decided to send the traffic to the myspace community board...

Mothers' Day sucks. The only reason men were ever served at tables was because they had to pound iron all day and were hungry. The biggest factor into why men were served at dinner tables historically, IMO, is that the kitchens were small 8x10 sheds. Today, it is not necessary. Just go buffet style off the stove.

That MxPx song sounds like a Bad Religion song, apart from the fact Brian plays on it. It reminds me of No Control. Oh yeah, Happy Birthday Mr. Brett.

I, too, would like to add a genuine 'fel?z cumplea?os' for Mr. Brett. Thank you for all the amazing songs you've written for us over the decades.
Also, I thought Mr. Jones & Greg's book was pretty good. I find it a bit funny how Preston Jones more or less admitted that he sympathized with atheists' disposition more than Christians'. He seems to be a very smart, academically driven person - but when it came to god-belief, he is very much a victim of the 'compartmentalization effect,' where his theist beliefs are walled off from the rest of his mind, where critical thought is allowed to work unencumbered. That's par for the course with 'academic Christians' and I think it's safe to say that Greg pretty well obliterated his arguments. The fact that Preston Jones edited this book, and not Greg, makes the whole thing seem 'fair and balanced' when in reality, theism was blown out of the water - as it always is, when weighed against rational arguments. Over all, though, it's a great read.

Happy birthday Brett, all the best!
Can't wait for the new album! And I hope to see you touring Germany with BR again sooner or later, it's been 15 long years since I've seen you the last time (Bad Religion + NOFX, Music Circus Ruhr, Oberhausen in 1992)! Bring on the triple axe attack!
