I didn't particularly care for "Los Angeles is Burning" and to me its the weakest track on TESF. Honest Goodbye is ok, Heroes and Martyrs ROCKS! The CD will be awesome, it's fucking Bad Religion People!!!

Wow, these people are so bored with their own mundane existence that they announce cynical condemnation as if they themselves are the chief Bad Religion connoisseurs and implement self-righteousness by doing so. God, this world really is going to hell, In fact, I didn?t think that the song was that awful.

"No it's not you neil."
Bwaha, hope you're not confusing me with the usual Neil that's around here. Actually, Mike, I'm another Mike.
At any rate, I could also swear that on at least one of the H&M videos on youtube has some crazy lead guitar between the verse... You can hear something different in each video so I dunno.

I simply don't get all the commotion over this song? First, its ONE song from an album. Its like pulling a chapter out of a book and trashing the novel based on the content of that one chapter. And for the goofballs asking "why did they pick THAT song as a single"?....I retort, what the hell does a single matter to a punk band? Did you think BR had a shot at contending with Beyonce or Justin on the Billboard singles chart and you're upset cause they blew their big chance?? Simmer the f*ck down and wait for the album!

also yea, around the 13th listen to the song, i agree a solo might be nice, but in the context of the album it probably won't need one.

Um bad-religion.net may want to revise their english section concerning the official release of heroes and martyrs...this is NOT the last album.
i would bitch more but it's hopefully just a translation mistake.

No it's not you neil. Not only is the mix very unlike any other BR, but it clips like mad. I don't think this could possibly be the final master...maybe a pre-mix?

Awesome.
Is it just me or do the lead vocals seem to be a little washed out? Could be that my new speakers never have quite jived with my sound card, but it seems about the same with headphones on.
I'm not biatching though. 100% grateful... I'll just listen harder if I have too.

I bet you that any other punk band, or ANY band, couldn't even get close to what BR has accomplished... Honest goodbye, is the type of song, that has been in almost every single BR album... Epiphany, boot stamping, etc, etc....
And please, if you're the kind of person that doesn't like BR anymore, because they're too old, too young, too fast, too slow, too whatever... guess what?
You have a choice!
Go with whatever rocks your boat, leave them alone!
Too old? for what? for music?
Brett is barely 45, and you want him to retire? No one ever says that in other professions, like directing, no one says Scorcese, is over the hill, he's got to retire!
Because he's still relevant! just like BR, and fucking Jack Daniel's...
So the moral of the story goes: Don't like em', don't buy them, and go to hell!... which by the way, there are new maps, and you won't have them. :-(
Tough!

it's not bad, just dissapointing...even for a single, i mean if the rest of the album is so different like everyone says, why do they picked this song? people know how bad religion sounds, i think the single should have been a faster song that really describes bad religion music

"I think they should redo the song with a solo, though. It sounds empty without one."
Yes, that's what I thought from the beginning, it somehow lacks a significant guitar section. Apart from that, Honest Goodbye is a good and quite typical pop-punk song, Brett Gurewitz style. By the way, did anybody recognize that many of these Brett songs are written in A?

Honest Goodbye aside, I'm interested in seeing other literary references on this album. For example, given Mr. Brett's respect for Kurt Vonnegut and his works, I find myself asking if the song Lost Pilgrim has any relation to the protagonist of Slaughterhouse-Five. It's a stretch, yes, but I'm enjoying the possibilities.

I hate it when people use the word "punx". Go listen to your stupid Casualties, wankers, with the lead singer screaming like he got his balls stuck in a blender. Honest Goodbye is a kick ass alternative rock song that does sound a bit like Weezer, but that's ok. I think they should redo the song with a solo, though. It sounds empty without one.

Indeed, BR has usual had an odd song that sticks out from the rest of the album, which further perplexed me when people shat their pants about honest goodbye after hearing heroes and martyrs.
I dunno see what the huge deal is with MxPx is at all. Anyone remember ALL?

What can be expected? It seems most comments left on punknews.org's BR articles are generally negative and at least one person has to make a Greg web cam joke.

I think with the new collaboration with the Grammy-nominated producer Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Weezer) is a great factor about the new sound of the album. That why Honest goodbye sounds like that. Eacc BR'S albums have a song very different then the basical beat of Wickerman's drum. Even with Bobby Schayer, BR had this kinda "Unique song" in the setlist's album.

Honest Goodbye isn't my favorite BR song ever by a long shot, but it grew on me pretty fast and I think it's a decent song. As for the aggressive sound that most of us think BR ought to have, those of us who have heard Heroes and Martyrs know we won't be let down.

My first was impression was...No thanks, I'll take Heroes and Martyrs instead. But then considering that I have not stopped listening to Honest Goodbye since it came out, I totally love it now. At about 3 minutes, I think it's too short though. I could stand another verse or maybe an riptastic bridge. But whatever, it is a fuckin sweet song!
