Grains of Wrath lyrics as i hear them..
Back in 83 a man came to me and he told me son, your way of life is done
But I was only young
With an eye to the fields speculators and yields rotten to the core
Mono-culture whores entered the bidding wars from distant shores
I dont wanna be in the land known as destitute and free
With the grains of wrath blazing a path from sea to shining sea
Oh the sinuous trails of concrete and rails and exhausted roars
Population wars setting our future course
Is profit and greed the only conceit on a scale between
Mere prosperity and inhumanity? It may well be but
I dont wanna be in the land known as destitute and free
With the grains of wrath blazing a path from sea to shining sea
I dont wanna be in the land known as destitute and free
With the grains of wrath blazing a path from sea to shining sea
This also happens to be the best song on the record IMO

"dont ask about a file like you are gonna lose a million dollar by downloading it yourself"
Fair play, but I don't download files often. I have huge problems with my ISP port blocking torrents and P2P programs, and while I'm sure there are ways around it I don't generally think it's worth going to the effort to implement them. So, therefore, if I'm going to go to that much hassle I'd like to have some faith that there's a real Bad Religion album at the end of it for me :-)
Anyway, due to the fact that this forum is full of leak stories, I'm guessing that there are a few people around here who would also be interested in leak news, and veracity of said news.

at waht point do the lazy "i found a leak" people realize, that the whole xxl think was discussed ages ago in several topics and even on the forum here. and while i am leecher bitch as anyone else, at least stop flooding the topics with the same questions... if you found a real version, say it, but dont ask about a file like you are gonna lose a million dollar by downloading it yourself... amazon will leak the album for a fair price anyway soon.-
"Plus, who has the time to devise fake lyrics for a song just to con people on a website?"-beside besides bad religion, sadly many people. well, i need some fresh air now, cause i need to write something...

Go to Mp3s and it will be there
Track list is on that page in case you think you already have them.

Well then Mr Chief, you can be the judge :-) Let people who claim to have leaks post lyrics, and you can tell us if they're right or not. Thus keeping your commitment not to leak the album yourself, but allowing us to know which of the supposed leakers are lying to us or not.

Hello chaps, I don't usually post here, but have been following the leak news (or lack thereof) with great interest. Surely we can devise some kind of test to discover whether people are telling the truth about leaks or not? Lets pick a song - say Grains of Wrath for the sake of argument - and ask whoever thinks they have a genuine Bad Religion leak to post the FULL lyrics to that song as they hear them to be. I'm sure we've all heard enough Bad Religion lyrics in our time to spot fake lyrics when we see them, right? Plus, who has the time to devise fake lyrics for a song just to con people on a website? I think from now on, if you don't have lyrical proof, you don't have a leak... who's with me?! :)

Trust me, it will leak out real soon. That could happen any minute now, I mean my friend told me that distribution began last week so copies are being sent to stores everywhere. Its just a matter of time until some one with less moral standards than me will post it somewhere.
I just posted the pics of the album here for you guys so u could see the artwork cuz there's no real harm in that... but please stop asking for mp3s. Jay said leaking ain't cool, and if he's a God to you too then you respect that!

Chief, I will buy you dinner (equal or lesser value of CD price). Honestly, though. I've bought every Bad Religion cd that's come out so I'm definitely going to buy this one, too. With that said, I'm too impatient to not download the leak (whenever it happens). I don't understand why people are content with burned cd's of really good albums. I'd much rather own the real thing.

Well, it really does fit in with the Trilogy (TPOB TESB, and NMOH), again the first 3 songs clock under 1:30, (yes 52 seconds does clock at 0:58)
There are more poppy songs on it, but not anything like or "to another abyss" or "boot stamping on a human face" , so the overall sound is more agressive than TESB and TPOB. There's another really fast song clocking in at 1:18 called murder. the longest songs are at the end this time (good decision!)
The production is diffrent from TESB, a lot of distorted vocals, and they kinda made the guitars sound fuzzy to especially at the first two songs.
It would be stupid saying this is their best album ever, but it is certainly an improvement over TESB!

Are we sure those pictures are real? Not trying to be a dick, it's just the packaging seems kind of bland. If that's really what it looks like, then fine. From what I've heard the music will still be amazing. It'd be cool if Jay would verify whether or not the pictures are legitimate (chief obviously isn't leaking it if it's real, and kudos to him for that).

Radio station got a cd with a few songs off it fans and reviewers have to wait to july
"One of the things we didn?t do this year is send out a lot of albums to get reviewed by magazines because previously when we sent out like 500 demo CDs for review, one of them would invariably end up on the internet and the entire album is downloaded three months previous to release," laments Jay. We decided to release things through the Epitaph site or the Myspace page"
Hence anyone giving out promo copies is going against the bands wishes

Well that could be a temporarily policy, but they have to start sending out promotional copies someday right? I mean reviews have to be written and radio stations would want to play something.
I know my friend, he certainly won't risk his job to make this fan the happiest motherf*cker on earth.

I like how sexy the lead vocals are for the following songs:
52sec, H&M, GoP, NDA, R4D, BYD, BYD, HG, DB, GoW, M, S, PS, tGD, LP, SC, FoM
especially: S!!
PS has sorrow.
I can't decipher tGD (ha!).
NDA captures Punk for me.
I don't really like 52sec too much (It's the lowest on the sexy voice scale for sure but perhaps only due to clip distortion).
The bass is awesome in GoW.
The guitar in both GoW and (big time) in tGD get me goin'.
The drums are kickin' in H&M (but that's not really a 30sec clip). The drumming at the end of PS is killer.
With so much to be stoked about, it is hard to narrow the 30sec clips down to things I can relate to others.
Su
I could analyze it to extremes for ya but I'm not in a band and certainly no expert. Just go ahead and listen. The world might end tonight!

S'AWESOME about Hamburg! :D
And 16 tracks in just a bit less than 40 minutes, that's positively ATG-esque.
And Mike... you misspelled Requiem For Dissent. ;P

I'd rather have the entire double album. Put the rejected songs on a second disc!
Jay, were any other songs, other than those on the album, recorded in studio that might accidentally surface on the net (excluding New Chapter)?

I'm sure Jay has the album, or at least could get the finished/unfinished master copy from the studio. Its not like he doesn't get access to that stuff.

Or you could use better things than eMule. Have a look for some Torrents; that way you can read other people's comments on the file and see if it's real or not before downloading.

New Dark Ages sounds like an Offspring song ; Before You Die reminds of Rebel's Goodbye (from Greg solo album) ; a certain part from Submission Complete sounds like Get It On from Turbonegro... but overall it sounds like pure Bad Religion. Its amazing to see how Greg manages to sound new and refresh even thought we heard 250+ songs from him.

Is it just me or does it seem like the majority of the songs on the new album are written by Brett? Anyways, it sounds mind-blowing. All the tunes and the flow of the lyrics appear to be addictively catchy and sharp. My favorite so far, is "Lost Pilgrim."

To simian, they did send out some promos even if they might not contain all songs. The press didn't get any, but the radio got at least four songs.

You don't need a promo copy for an album to leak a few albums that don't get promos leak two - three weeks before when they start mass printing them

Call me crazy, but I don't think you're going to find this album leaked. Jay said they didn't send out promo copies, and I don't see any reason why he'd lie about that. If it does leak, it probably won't be until a few days before July 10 anyway, so don't waste your time scouring soulseek et al for this. I know it's hard. I can't fucking wait! But I'm pretty sure Epitaph/Bad Religion can keep this album from leaking if that's what they want to do.

trying to get lyrics... so far:
Germs of Perfection - Machine of life, oh can we make it run? We have the tools, but only just begun. Machine of life, oh can we make it run the calculations of a greater son/sun?
I think it's calculations of a greater sum.

I feel like the full length songs spoiled a lot. I like the samples from the other songs a lot better. I don't feel the urge to listen to heroes and martyrs or honest goodbye anymore. But I think in album context I would like them again. 3 years ago with la is burning, sinister rouge and let them eat war I had the same feeling. But after buying the album it was so much better. I respect all the guys not listening to any of the songs. Because they are just going to have a couple of multiple orgasms

But I think in album context I would like them again. 3 years ago with la is burning, sinister rouge and let them eat war I had the same feeling. But after buying the album it was so much better. I respect all the guys not listening to any of the songs. Because they are just going to have a couple of multiple orgasms

Am I the only one who loves Dearly Beloved? Germs of Perfection sounds just like something that Good Riddance did with their two last albums (on the other hand, GR has always sounded like BR).
And yeah, I can?t really understand how these short clips spoil anything. The only thing I can say about the record that it?s going to be fast and melodic as hell. Suits me. Hell, even the full-song mp3s (Heroes & Martyrs, Honest Goodbye, Requiem for Dissent) haven?t spoiled a thing since I haven?t studied the lyrics yet.

After all of the comments of uncertainty regarding the previously released tracks, reading these comments has made me a happy man. I'm not listening to them before the album is released, but thanks to you brave souls who have, I am left without any apprehension towards the album. This, in fact, makes me feel less tempted to check the songs out. (I don't the need to give them a listen to dispell doubtful thoughts.)
Um. thanks, I guess. To those who've reassured me, and especially to the band, for going on strong and dedicated enough to make this music.

Am I on crack or is "Progidal Son" a homage to CCR's "Fortunate Son"? I mean....the lyrics in the chorus are very similar....in a good way.
I was thinking the same exact thing when I heard it, very similar indeed.

To Su, RightLaneEnd, Jau Peacecraft and all the others resisting the temptation: hang on in there! For the first time in my life I decided not to listen to anything before the album comes out. But now that we'll have one hell of a blast when we first hear the album in it's entirity the 10th of july! From the things I've read here I think this album has the potention to be one of the best since Stranger than Fiction. I know it's hard: May the force be with you!

30 of 52 seconds is 0.0120 120 120...
and thereby can go on forever without getting anywhere at all.
I got 0.57, where did 0.0120... come from?

anyone else feel like they kind of ruined the experience of waiting for the new album by getting a small taste of every song that pretty much sets the tone of the album. theres no way i couldnt have not listend to it, but i kind of wish i waited, because now im even more impaitent
Yeah, a bit. Although I sort of did that with the process of belief, where I downloaded most of the songs, then bought the album, and I still got that sort of tingly magical feeling, listening to the cd all the way through.
At least I've got exams to distract me from the waiting of it though. Wait... that's not a good thing :(... bollocks.

I actually do like overture and it does fit better when played with sinister rouge i see the logic in not putting it as one song though. But i was hoping 52 seconds was more a change of ideas kind of thing. Obviously I assuming it is actually 52 seconds here

Tuesg I always kind of looked at the Overture as part of Sinister Rouge than a seperate song...I mean SR is (in my and everyone I know what has heard the song) much more effective and amazing when you play the overture before it. The AHHH catches you.

Well thats true, only reason I wonder was there is another link in the comment section which has 43 second samples of each song and I wasn't really sure how they went about it.
But anyway sounds good from the samples, I'm pleased to see 52 seconds has lyrics I was assuming it was going to be another overture type piece

not sure, but i would believe epitaph would want to have some control over what 30 second sample they were playing...
seems like something that would be standard for a label to do for this scenario.

This is supposed to be going back to their roots? Sounds VERY different, but good!"
Ha ha, yeah, they ALWAYS say something like that before the new albums come out, Graffin especially. It's like this constant need to defend their "old school"-ness regardless of what kind of music they feel like making. Fortunately it doesn't inform the music too much (*cough*TESF*cough*), but it certainly connotes a latent fear of another ITU-type backlash. "Holy shit, we put a rapper on our record, what'll we do?" "Calm down everyone, I'll just tell KROQ we used the same guitar cases we used on the Suffer tour and it'll all be fine."

Yeah, I'd personally say that TESF is one of their better albums. It's not up there with No Control and TPOB, but it's still a great album.
Anyway, I freakin love the NMOH now. Honestly, the only song I don't love off it at the moment, is Honest Goodbye. But the other 15 .... wow. And I'm sure Honest Goodbye will grow on me. Most of the slower BR songs seem to do that.

I'm not sure why people don't seem to like The Empire Strikes First.
It's by far one of their best albums, every song is ****ing amazing.
I can't understand why people say they don't like it, I mean, Beyond Electric Dreams, Social Suicide, All There Is, Live Again, Gods Love, Boot Stamping - Every song is amazing.
Perhaps the arrangement of the songs on the album is possibly the reason why many people don't like it.
I think Boot Stamping should have been moved closer to the front, as it's a hidden gem on that album, and Los Angeles Is Burning and Let Them Eat War should definetly been moved apart and not stuck together the way they are on the album.
Anyways, it's a brilliant album, and I encourage you to give it another listen.
Listen to the background vocals, the guitars, the drumming, and read the lyrics.

Just from the 30 second clips, I'm sure this will be one of their best albums. And without hearing all of the other songs as of now Requiem is still the best song. As far as similarities to older songs,
"Grains of Wrath" reminds me a lot of "Skyscraper."

Fields of Mars - Came to him and could have mistook it for the meaning of sin.

Scrutiny - I can't be sure of anything anymore. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 years go flying by, no one seem to hesitate or cast an earnest eye. Yeah, judgement comes in

Murder (really hard to hear these lyrics, not sure about them at all) - Did you find what you were looking for, not at all! Not at all! They shout out 'murder!' and take the cure, bad ache, you made a mistake, annihilation in a chemical war! I thought your water(?) hadn't cured you, and raised you up on stage, as you would call that fucker by his name.

the beginning of submission complete sounds like "The Universal Cynic" and then it goes into "shades of truth".
the beginning "germ of perfection" clip has "the markovian process" melody.
its nice to have those similarities, on purpose or i guess not, but you expect it to go into the direction you know already but then comes something new.

Dearly Beloved - He was the kinda guy who'd always go out of his way some more before the crazy notion leapt right into his head. Discovered he could then do every man deception (I'm really uncertain about that part) I can't deny a funny feeling when he said to me beloved, dearly beloved, dearly beloved, I can't relate to you, I can't relate to you.

Before You Die - Like plaster crumbling apart from pressure on the plaster waiting for a sign. And the momentary pleasures take their turn, as the wistful boy runs out of things to learn.
The episodes of yore are never too reserved. Scare up some hope! You're gonna need it just to cope.

These lyrics I'm posting are just what I was able to hear. Obviously I probably misheard more than a word or two.
New Dark Ages - These are the new dark ages, yeah, I hope you're living right. These are the new dark ages, and the world might end tonight. Come you children, one and all, the team? is sick of your calling...

trying to get lyrics... so far:
Germs of Perfection - Machine of life, oh can we make it run? We have the tools, but only just begun. Machine of life, oh can we make it run the calculations of a greater son/sun?

Surprised no one has pointed out that "New Dark Ages" is the song that Brian was playing in the NMOH webisode on Epitaph's site, the one everyone recognized as the tune to "The Kids Aren't Alright" by The Offspring. LOLz. I still love it though. And the world might end tonight!

Well, I listened before reading any of you wankers' comments ;) and I have to say this: I believe we may have Bad Religion's best album ever. Of course I need to hear the whole songs before making a statement like that, but my hopes are high. I absolutely loved everything I heard. I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT for this album.

Wow...
So far, here are the big winners (aside from Requiem, which is the best song on the CD so far):
New Dark Ages
Before You Die
Grains of Wrath
Murder
Scrutiny
Fields of Mars
Prodigal Son seems like the "loser" so far.

Woooh, 52 seconds almost sounds like a cross between Black Flag's "Rise above" and The Roots "!!!". Neat! (And if you thought that a hip hop act- The Roots- couldn't make great hardcore punk, then you're wrong.)
Or maybe I'm just hearing things.
The other songs didn't dissapoint me either- Dearly beloved sounds like it could be my new favorite BR song!, so if the production of this album doesn't drag this down then it will be an amazing album! 52 seconds, New dark ages, Before you die, Dearly beloved, Murder, Submission complete etc etc.... This is gonna be grrrrrrreat!

I'm guessing around 40-45 minutes.
Just a thought on the Japanese release which apparantly has sorrow and god song. Anyone else reckon they may be Greg doing acoustic covers? Either that or re-recordings of the originals.

Holy shit this sounds awesome. I mean seriously, I love BR, and judging by what I've just heard, I'm thinking this is gonna be my new favourite record of all time (replacing No control and the process of belief, both of which I can't choose between). It reminds me of TPOB but a bit darker and more melodic, which equals awesomeness. Argh.... it's gonna be a long month.

Yeah, you guys got it. I've been waiting for the next BR "heavy hitter" for a long time. All of the albums between then were good, but they just didn't have that speed and the "oomph" that previous records had. (STF and prior).

that song isnt metal.. by far, guess you'd lable that due to the harmonized guitars and the palm mutes lateron. But it sure as hell aint metal"
You pinpointed exactly why I wrote that. But I just meant the guitar in the clip. I did not mean to imply the song is hair metal. Hell, even hair metal isn't metal.

John Peel had (has?) a show on BBc radio. They played the show in 1993, played RFH, Kerosene, American Jesus and What Can You Do.

Wow.
I can honestly say i wasn't expecing that (in a good way).
The first 10 songs or so sounded (and granted, this is just judging from the clips) very similar - but those last six sound awesome.
Can't wait.

my will power is absolute after my slight initial disappointment with the TESF leak last time around. to stave off to the temptation to listen to song clips, I've been hunting down all the rare stuff I can find. The john peel session is especially kick ass.
one more month NMOH... one more month. It will be a glorious battle.

The songs don't sound nearly as dark as what I'd imagined, but there seems to be an underlying sadness in quite a few. It's some kind of paradox, I tell you.

I NEED MORE!!!!!
By the way, I love Brooks in a non-gay sense.
I think Grains of wrath is my fave, and doesn't Murder sound a bit like Cant's stop it?

To me it's like looking 16 pages of a book with 100 pages. I don't have any feeling about it. No, wait... it sounds like The new maps of hell!
Anyway, I can't wait to hear all of it!

hmmm...maybe it's partially the previews...but it seems as if Greg is singing most of these songs in a very high register...like The Gray Race, i hope he can sustain these songs over the course of a tour.

Again, sounds like an album from an older band, you can see the same sort of change occuring (but further along) in Social Distortion's music. A little less aggressive, a little less heavy, more "musical" i guess...more emphasis on melody and arranging. but damn, catchy as hell :)

Not listening... if I did, I'd listen to select songs way too often.
But I wouldn't get the picture for the whole album with those clips, either...

What was your reasoning for not listening Su? I guess you get a hint of the flow and context, but certainly not a full picture...30 seconds isn't a long time...

Cmments by Part III from Netherlands on 2007-06-08 @ 17:23
Before you die has a really energetic tune.. most definitely not what I was expecting, a pleasant surprise indeed.
Agreed much more upbeat than what I figured it would be

This is the sort of album I would expect from a band that is getting older, comfortable with what they are doing and ready to start expanding on their sound somewhat. I would hazard to guess most fans will like it, and it should get great reviews, but i'd also wager there will be a sizable backlash from the normal narrowminded contingency. I guess that's the case any time.

Sounds excellent. I love BGVs, so if they're that pronounced, that's going to be amazing.
... I was thinking, since they have clips of all the songs... should I take a listen? Aargh, can't decide.

Certainly good, but nowhere, NOWHERE near as dark and heavy as I had expected from song/album titles. It seems very upbeat generally, melodic and with lots of BGVs, not enough time of each clip to spot anymore serious favourites.
I think this is a much bigger departure than anyone thought.
06/08/2007 at 17:20

I hesitate to say better until i've heard the album. Certainly very different, I want to say it's more poppy but that isn't it, it seems to be much more melodic (vocally at least) with a TON of oozin'ahhs. TONs of'em.
