"if someone stole $15 from me that would be a bad thing." First of all, the album is fucking amazing. I sent Interpunk my money for the album and theyre sending it to me in a couple of weeks. Second of all, out of $15 bucks, BR probably gets about $2 of it. Maybe a little more considering Brett owns the label, but not by much. The store that sells the album takes the $15, probably gives $13 to the distributor who shipped the CD, they give about $10 to the record company, and then they give a fraction of that each to the band members, and the producer (previously Brett or the entire band, but this time Joe Barresi), and the engineer. So I'll bet Graffin gets about a dollar from a single CD sale, if not less. Brett might get a little more for being Epitaph's owner and whatever.

When you check ISPs how can you be tell if someone's posting as someone else or that they're just using a different computer? Just curious.
I would imagine Sean and the guy that posted as jabber would have had the same IP

I agree. Let's stop arguing about commercial issues. The album is quite amazing, it's a sunny day and I'm going to watch them live tomorrow in Madrid.

Not that it justifies downloading an illegal copy of the album but just so people don't get all righteous on me, I have pre-ordered the CD a long time ago. Guess I lack patience... at least when it comes to BR.

I'm not stealing nobody and stop using the same falacies as the music industry with that ilogical argument that you would have bought everything you download which is plain stupid. See, the record isn't even for sale yet. How can I steal something that isn't for sale?
Now the options are: listen to the songs or don't. Nothing about buying. I will think about that when the album is released. Probably will buy it 'cause it's BR and 'cause it's an awesome album.

I think anyone mature enough to listen to BR knows that dowloading music is not a "bad" thing and you won't go to hell.
I've bought every single BR CD to date and I will probably buy this as well later. But BR play here in Madrid tomorrow and I needed to hear the new songs. New Dark Ages and Fields of Mars are pure poetry.

sounds weird that a fun [sic] of BR is a politician, dont you think? :)
Well if the MPs at Westminster revere Bill Hicks as a political philosopher then it's not too much of a stretch to think that a politician might like Bad Religion. Please note, this is not anything against you. What you called an "angry reaction" was merely a joke about politicians giving long speeches without saying anything at all, which is what someone thought you had done.
Let's be friend's, huh?

The album is definitely solid. It really isn't one of my favorites though. There is a lot of classic BR moments though and I'm trying to decide if thats a great thing or an okay thing (obviously not a bad thing)
Jay and Brooks are about as good as I've heard them. I almost think that Bretts production values/ideals are a little too overpowering on this disk. The album is very modern rock in certain parts (not throughout songs, just moments)
It almost feels like this is more of a Brett CD to be honest. Could be wrong. But it has a more Brett feel to it, and I always identified w/Greg more.

With all respect to all who react to my comment, first i dont understand your a bit angry reactions,i didnt meant to make anybody mad,i respect all your opinions and i just wanted to say mine doesnt matter if it doesnt count and makes no sense to you or maybe to nobody.I think anybody is free as a BR fun to write his opinion in one of the best BR fun sites.Im sorry if i wrote some things that maybe i do not suppose to write in this foroum.I was pointing more to the fact that i have to say back my idea about BR to some people as im reading their ideas too.For sure those are a few and especialy not those who answered back. The rest was just some personal ideas about the band as everbdy has about every band. The politician part was the most funny:)i already asked sorry for my poor english,im a citizen as you are who tries also to survive from all those mistakes that politicians do and i really dont like them too!sounds weird that a fun of BR is a politician, dont you think? :)

Bad religion is just a band and they do this probably because they like doing what they are doing. We are the people who buy their stuff. They happen to write intelligent music, that's it. But you're from greece, so maybe you see things differently being raised by plato and socrates.

Why all the talk of BR splitting? - i see no indication of it at all. If New Chapter is to be used next time around then how are they splitting? Save the splitting talk for a time in the future when they declare they are splitting. I hope they're around for another 15 years.

"But seriously, it's impossible for BR to release their "best album ever" at this point, since it's an unfeasible task to compare the newer releases to the genre defining Finestone-era albums Suffer, No Control and Against The Grain. "
I don't know. My personal favourites are Against the Grain and Process of Belief.I think they're at the top of their game now.

Many thanks to all of you who still support their work, cause you give them more reasons to bring another album after that, but if this is their last i can say im very satisfied from their work and from what they gave to me, to you to us to whole humanity or at least to the people who had the chance to know them. Thank you Greg G, thank you Mr Brett, Thank you Jay, Thank you Greg H.,thank you Brooks and all the older players of the band especialy to Boby the most rythmic punk rock drummer ever(Brooks is great ofcourse)! thanks all of you for reading my comments and wish to all of you to find your own way and do always what really makes you happy and makes you feel complete. Maybe if you ask them they will say "see,it's only entertainment" there is no "man with a mission" and no deeper meaning but thats what makes them more interesting than many other really commercial bands who they use music marketing/industry in order to be important in other peoples eyes, cause they are prety or handsome, playing only for the fame and money....except of playing for the fun they have nothing else to show those bands, nothing to give to the people like you and me. I dont want to say names anyway. And besides all BR they are human beings like us and they want and searching for the same things as we all people do,doing also many mistakes, nobody is perfect ofcourse. Anyway i dont want to point to anybody especialy in this website and i dont want to say that i understand BR more than others, but i think everybody who's "searching for the answer" must open his/her mind, relax and...enjoy "the greatest show on heaven and earth"!!!

I see them more from the philosophical side. Take a deeper look on their lyrics and their work all those years(also outside from the band)and try to see and understand why they still do what they do. As we all do our work in this life as a part of the whole, lets say universe, they also do their job in the way they beter can, playing this kind of music in their own way....they work for you and you work for them(if you are a fun) and all of us we work for echother and for the entire universe...but if somebody doesnt believe such crap then must listen again and again their songs until he/she get the deepest meaning of the existance of BR. Ofcourse everybody lives and makes his "own reality",i dont want to say that i see something more than you, but you can also get something positive and useful for your life if you get my point and if you really want.

Ofcourse everybody lives and makes his "own reality",i dont want to say that i see something more than you, but you can also get something positive and useful for your life if you get my point and if you really want.

AMAZING!DEVINE!!i can only say those words for the new BR album. For sure im goin to buy it as i did with all the other albums.Im listening unstopable to BR more than 10 years now, and every new album is a new big surprise musicaly and ofcourse lyricaly. I've saw some of their live shows and i've talked also with some members of the band. I've never wrote any comment on internet, as many people do, expressing my ideas but this time and after listening to this great album and reading those comments i thought is time to say a few words about BR:
Im really wondering why many of you people want to judge their work pointing to the fact that they dont sound the same as in the older albums like the devine Generator or whatever album you like. Are you still the same persons with the same ideas as you were 5 or 10 years ago??You never look forward?? I wanted here to add also that BR is not only a Punk Rock band, they always try to give something more than only music

"As the others have said, this is the best new BR cd so far."
OK, who are the "new BR"? Bad Religion after the departure of Jay Ziskrout, after the departure of Pete Finestone, after the departure of Brett Gurewitz or after the departure of Bobby Schayer?
But seriously, it's impossible for BR to release their "best album ever" at this point, since it's an unfeasible task to compare the newer releases to the genre defining Finestone-era albums Suffer, No Control and Against The Grain.

I thought that was a funny joke. I also thought it could become their last album. Because it ends with a piano. And How could hell had a piano on it. (yes atomic garden too, I know that)

Blink 182 had a pretty big asshole in the band that more or less caused them to disband (i forget who it was, i haven't listened to them since when I first got Napster). I can't imagine them stopping just yet from what I hear of the album.
Besides, I remember reading Jay saying they'd save "New Chapter" for the next time around. It sucks that it won't be a b-side though, I'd love for there be a b-side from every cd from now on :(.
It ain't over until it's over, Never Say Never, 'till the fat whore sings, take your pick.
Besides, maybe they included the logo so they wouldn't lose their way while navigating using the "New Maps Of Hell" LoL.
Sry , that was kinda cheesy.

It's crazy to read everyone's opinion about the new cd. I think that it's the best they've put out in years. I'm enjoying it more than Process and Empire. When I heard the 30 sec. clips I wasn't impressed, but I love this fucking record.

I hate to say it but, putting the main emblem on the CD is one o-dem signs of the end. And I hate to use them as an example but like Blink-182's self titled CD was their last. I certainly hope not and it seems like they have a lot left but it could be a sign.

Grains of Wrath and Submission Complete are no redudant
I'm sure GoW will grow on you.
And listen to SC again... carefully.
Heroes and Martys is a standout.
The thing about the album is that graffin's voice could be louder and some songs more cleaner.

Have the rest of you guys noticed that this album isn't all we were expecting? It obviously doesn't suck but doesn't it seem like it gets kind of redundant after No. 8? The first few songs are really good, but there's no standout song on this in my opinion.

Wow....wow....this cd is phenomenal. The only thing I can find with it is that Brooks Wackerman isnt throwing crazy fucking fills in every 5 seconds like he did on TESF. But fuck he's still the best

There is a chance I am crazy, but I think it's definitely not their best work. Play the whole album and after that listen to "don't sell me short", "american jesus" or "along the way". I'll give it 3.5/5

I've limited myself to downloading 52 Seconds, Germs of Perfection, and New Dark Ages. I think limiting myself to six songs will allow me to survive until the release date. And so far I think this album is one of their best in years.

I also must congratulate you all for such an amazing album. It truely is amazing. I can't stop listening to it, and I'm more than sure that I will be listening to it up until the release date when I promise that I will buy the retail copy.
The backup vocals are better than ever, which is the one thing I wanted most from this album. Thank you so much.

Bigbang that?s stupid. It?s not like the ones who want to download (and not buy) it wouldn?t do it anyway. Offering a link for a download page on a BR fansite hardly costs the band anything. Anyway thanks again for Bad Religion, another classic will be released in few weeks. Incredible.

And honestly Im not trying to be the 'music industry police' here. Feel free to do whatever you want. I just think its kinda naive to download a leak version and not realising how much of a pain in the ass the download site can be to the artist.

Thing is, there are people who downloaded the album from the very same site as you people did and WILL NEVER BUY the album. Still people here were all asking for a download page, without even realising that a few hundred or thousand persons jumped on that opportunity to get a free copy of the album.

Anyone who actually would visit a Bad Religion fan page that downloads the CD will buy it as sure as the Sun rises and sets. People getting the links from here are not really a problem...Of course spreading it is, I can see that if it leads to more sources to be downloaded...but I just downloaded it for myself because as I said, I can't get the CD until a few weeks after release and I'd probably die. (Selfish, yeah). If I bought two CDs would I make par?

So THAT'S why I woke up hah. Thanks for not killing me. I completely understand the disapproval of leaks, because music is something that's a big part of my life. It's really all I want to do and all I've ever been alright at. I don't know how I'd feel about something I worked hard on getting released on the internet before it's supposed to. I will say this album is a major fucking inspiration. As the others have said, this is the best new BR cd so far.

"Jay must be really pissed looking at this thread."- i doubt it, i bet they were pissed when TPOB and TESF leaked three months ahead, but this time it didnt leak, it went online after the distribution. it was pretty clear that would happen, its not like with movies, where you have much bigger control. only way to avoid this, is to set the release date at the same day the distribution begins, but well, thats just a numbers game...

to make my review i asked for the lyrics. here is : New Dark Ages
Yeah can you hear the call in our rambling land susurrations?
That can expand beyond all hope of light and plunge us into unrelenting night
A pall on truth and reason,
It feels like hunting season
So avoid those lines of sight and we?ll set this right
Welcome to the new dark ages
I hope you?re living right
These are the new dark ages
And the world might end tonight
Now come ye children one and all - let?s heed Ezekiel?s call
And bide until the word is good and ripe and get plucked clean out of sight
The world will be erased our kin will be immaculate ejaculate in space
Before the king of king?s love, he?ll snatch us from above, brothers help me sing it
So how do you sleep - there?s nothing to keep - This is deep
Because we?re animals - with golden rules
Who? who can?t be moved by rational views yeah

Now yea can you hear the call in a reverend land
(suserasions?) that can expand beyond the hope of light and plunge us into unrelenting night
(appalled? a juke? and reason)
It feels like hunting season
so avoid those lights of sight and we'll set this right
Welcome to the new dark ages
Yea I hope your living right beside
the new dark ages
And the world might end tonight
Come ye children one and all
Lets heed Ezekiel's call
And fight until the word is good and ripe and get plucked, clean out of sight
The world will be erased
Our kin will be immaculate(ejacualant) in space
before the king of kings law it snatches from above
Brothers help me sing it
Welcome to the new dark ages
Yea I hope your living right beside
the new dark ages
And the world might end tonight
So how do you sleep
There's nothing to keep
This is deep
Because were animals
With golden rules
Who, who cant be moved by rational views Yea!

Wow. Lost Pilgrim really surprised me, and might be my favorite song on the album.
The entire is amazing. From start to finish all the songs have their unique sound.

I'm going to say this is the best of the new Bad Religion...Because you can't really put anything after STF with stuff before STF since they kind of have different sounds....This is almost a mix of the Good old and Good new...It's a great album.
Prodigal Son is a nice song to me. I'm not all about the BANG BANG BANG all the time, so a little slower but still decently fast song like this is a breath of the freshest air.

Jay, if you're reading this I have several things to say. 1) Please do not murder me in my sleep. 2) I LOVE Submission complete. I liked what you guys were going for there, and you fucking pulled it off every step of the way. I can't say "PLEASE DO MORE LIKE THIS" because I know you can't force what you're doing. But yeah, try to do more of this hah. I like the time signature and structuring. Oh and for everyone else. Why all the hate on Prodigal Son? It's beautifully written. It might not be as "hard" or "Dark" as the other stuff, but it's another very well written song.

AVOID the mininova torrent. Megaupload is in great quality. And yes, this is quite possibly the best Bad Religion album I've heard in years. Glad to hear Jay doing some more intricate basslines and Brookes is ALL OVER the place. Amazing. Fucking Amazing. And of course I'm buying this, so please don't yell at me.

Prodigal Son is a good song, but it's the weakest of the songs next to Honest goodbye. Thats not to say its bad, its just that so many of the songs kick major ass. Honest goodbye really doesn't fit with the rest of the album.
And yeah, I have the album.

It's weird but it seems the first few songs that come to my head to want are different from what most other people say they like and can't wait for...
Personally I want to here this Prodigal Son song...I liked the sample, especially the slower part.

I "get in line" but the queue time has not decreased yet. It's been stuck there for the past hour. My question is: Will the queue times periodically update or do I just have to speculate how long the wait will be?

So a straight search for "new maps of hell" under that users name won't bring anything up, or do I have to do individual songs?

Nails Basstard:
1.) Right-click "user"
2.) Add the name, "xbloomx"
3.) Right click his name and scroll down to the 2nd to bottom option ("search for files in user list").
4.) Type in name of the song.
The song should pop up; however, expect a long queue time.

I agree with you Franco. I'm not really interested in downloading another P2P filesharing program that will probably do nothing but put a bunch of viruses on my computer.. Someone upload it to megadownload or whatever the site is called

I still don't understand why no one has made a torrent out of this. Any BR fan will buy the album regardless of whether or not they get a leaked copy of the album.

I'm kinda sad that the band didn't manage to prevent a leak overall, or until the week or week before it's release :(. I just hope the leak doesn't get abused though.
The guy thats sharing it must have got his own copy of the album

How can it not be abused? It has been and will be abused extensively... The thing is, as soon as people start to get the actual CD someone will share it with a friend who shares it with a friend and somewhere along the line someone will upload it and share with a friend who will share it with a bunch of friends who will... You get the picture. It's a matter of time now until it appears on all major filesharing networks.

I'm not sharing it for the precise reason....i know many people are like me and just want to hear it and then will buy it (I'm buying 5 of them actually...for friends as well) but many people dont want to buy it...so I won't share it on soulseek.

I think people like tuesg, chief, and anesthesia are enjoying their dispensation a little too much. They've somehow convinced themselves that it's ok if they listen to a leaked copy, but it's reprehensible if anyone else does.
I hope it leaks soon, just to spite their 15 hours of spurious self-righteousness.
06/18/2007 at 20:37
