Some of you guys might be interested in a 3 part video Brian Baker did back around the time New America came out.
He talks about different things like his equipment, and he says he uses standard tuning in one of the parts.
Part 1(for part II and III look in the related videos)

New Dark Ages and Requiem sound great, but I'm kinda dissapointed with Honest Goodbye live. Also, lots of people look bored on these clips :)
I gotta aplaud the man who taped the denver show cuz he kinda focused on that hot lady at right side of the stage:D

-Oh, the album is in standard tuning as far I'm concerned. They only seem to play tuned down live.

Jau> thats bullcrap, ever since the STF album came out they have played 90% of the time dropped to D#. The last approx. 4 years they play in normal tuning from time to time, but still not too often and the dropping definitely isnt due to the New Maps of Hell release. I believe Jay somewhere said they play in D# to preserve Greg's voice a bit during heavy touring days.

I'm willing to bet the lower tuning really helps give the album a much darker & stronger feel. It ships tommarow, I better call Shamus and make sure the stables are ready or else I won't have it until the next album comes out :\.

I'm kind of surprised that Jay still hasn't mastered the "We've got to kill em and eat em before they reach for their checks" part of Let Them Eat War. It's been 3 years since The Empire Strikes First, and it's only like, 8 lines to remember. Every time I hear him say that part, I always chuckle, because by the 3rd or 4th line he usually completely messed up with it(no offense Jay, you are a great bass player, and background vocalist)

-Oh. Makes sense, pretty much what I guessed since it looked like they were playing on the 5th fret.

-Jay and Brian did a good job singing harmony in the older songs like No Control at that same show (the Denver one) but seemed to ignore the aahs in the newer ones :S

Bad Religion often plays tuned down half a stap. This is to save Greg's voice a bit. They usually play with their guitars tuned to D# while playing the same positions as normal --> explaining why new dark ages is in C# now.

Brett is great. Jay is very decent, but tends to lose his voice on stage very often. Brian, on the other hand, can't sing worth a damn. A bit like me.

I don't think the rest of the band are the best of singers live...

I'd rather hear that higher harmony part than the rythm guitar. Just me though.
Still. They have two back ups live and no one even bothers singing the "aahs" in the second part of the verse (New Dark Ages). Or in Requiem, right after the "Hey!", y'know?

Yeah, I'm surprised Brian doesn't play the higher harmony part. And it was pretty clear from the get go (the official "leak" of Honest Goodbye) that BR would be unable to recreate the very prominent backup vocals this time around, with or without brett.

Did anyone else notice that they're playing New Dark Ages a half step down live? It's in C# minor live while it's in D minor studio. Also, they need Brett live for the guitar parts, the harmony over the lead is missing...
