Why is Arcade Fire on this list?
No no.. this doesn't add up at all!

I realize some of you hate it but, daniel418 has been right for the most part. Most those numbers are only different now because of time span.
Hey does anyone know when Bad Religion is coming back to Germany after those 3 dates?

First of all... Gold is not that good when boring bands like nirvana and janes addiction and gay ass' chris daughtry are all multi platinum selling 50 million records. Second I agree party with pcgamer it doesn't have as much to do with record sales as it has to do with the majority of fans seeing them but also... I believe in my opinion Brett is a little bitter about songs he was not involved with also, I know this first hand small labels and major labels do it... If u read in the interview Atlantic records gave BR a deadline to finish no substance and in cntract they have to play certain songs off those records at some point in their set. Right when they went back to epitaph they stopped playing new America and no substance all together... So I think that they just don't like those records at all which u gotta give them credit if that's the case cuz they play what they want, but man I love strange denial and shades of truth and track 16 from NS track 1 TNA I wanna c live

Tommy, you also need to take into account what the majority of the fans like and what songs everyone can like. They don't play songs from No Substance because that album's reception wasn't very well with BR fans. I love the album and it's my second favorite, but a lot of "hardcore" BR fans would put it near the end of their list. BR knows this and for that reason they don't play the songs. This is also why BR still plays songs from HCHBAW, like Part III, We're Only Gonna Die, and Fuck Armageddon. It just depends on what they think the majority of the fans like and that's how they choose their setlist. I really don't think it has to do with record sales as much as what I said.

Gold is good. I am just very interested in record sales because I want to know if there is a link between not selling well ( like no substance) and not playing songs of it. In my opinion Bad Religion should judge their music by songs and not by albums.

I stand corrected. Asshole comment proven just.
Google "new american" 61,000 bad religion and the source will come up. It's probably sold more than that by now(it was 6 years ago), but according to Bently, New America sold 61k(I have no idea during what timespan. The first year perhaps?).

So Feist won it. It's a good album. So is Neon Bible and Sound of Silver. As a BR fan I like them being in the running. As a BR fan, I completely understand them not getting any further than the long list based solely on NMoH.

The only way to know for sure is to ask someone with access to SoundScan which supplies the data which makes the Billboard charts. That database can tell you sales for all BR records in the USA and Canada, but not internationally.
If anyone knows anyone at a record label (are you listening, Brett?) then find out. I'd be fascinated to heard about BR's sales figures...

Those numbers have been pulled completely out of your ass. Give me the tiniest bit of proof that No Substance sold between 40-80 thousands copies or that the New America sold 61,000 copies. I guarantee they both sold well over 100,000 in the US like every Bad Religion record in recent memory. If New America sold 61K copies, it wouldn't keep getting re-printed and you sure as fuck wouldn't find it in your record store. From what I understand and from what I have read countless times is that they typically sold between 200,000 and 400,000 copies of their albums (with STF being the exception).

I'm ubsessed with looking up record sales so I'll tell you the ones I know
How could hell be any worse sold 10,000 in its first week n peaked at nearly 40k
Suffer broke records making BR the best selling punk band of that time sold 210,000 records
No control and against the grain I don't know
Recipe for hate was there first record to sell over 300k
stranger Than fiction Sold almost immidiatly went gold with that record selling 500k records
The gray race dramatically declined selling only 250,000 records
No substance sold tween 40-80 k records
The new America sold 61k records
Then back to epitaph to once again bring them to life selling 400k worldwide
(keep in mind you only become gold or platinum selling 500k or 1 mil. In u.s.)
the release of the empire strikes first (worldwide) 500k albums
New maps of hell by november 2007 in the u.s. They sold 80k records, world wide 667,000
In 2008 theyre entire collection including best odd has sold 11 million worldwide

I thought: suffer, no control, against the grain between 100000-200000, recipe 250000? stf 550000. those are my guessings, coz jay said they doubled their fanbase with stf. from the gray race it went down. and the pob sold more than TNA and TESF even more than POB. But I am sure I'm wrong about everything haha
