last night's show was identical, except fuck armageddon for recipe for hate and drastic actions for let them eat war. other than that, completely identical. i went to both shows and i kept a song list of each one. those were the only differences.

I went to HOB Sunset last night, and I believe the set list was not exactly the same but quite similar, but in a slightly different order.
BTW, Skyscraper + accoustic = awesome.

I didn't know hetson sung that part on tested. Why did he sing that part of the song a lot in 1996-98? shows? As a guitarist I would say that it is difficult for brian to do the guitarriff and sing. But why didn't they change roles from solo guitarist and rhytm- in the end of the song? answer, anyone?

That's a genius way of sneaking in a recorder....time to find some 80's shoes.
While we are on the subject of Tested, fun fact. You can hear Hetson in American Jesus singing the "One Nation Under God" part

It is no surprise to me that TESTED was recorded with every source seperately. But yeah, I hope they'll record these shows and put it on an audioDVD or 320kbpsmp3CD-rom. But I don't think they'll do that. And I must say, I love "tested". I got it before "the gray race" and I hated the gray race songs on the gray race(because of the clean sound). Now I'm used to it, but still prefer "tested"

I just got Tested and read the booklet. For anyone that doesn't know, they bought a few used 8 track recorders part way through the tour, and pretty much split the signal from the guitars/bass and all that stuff, and recoreded everything seperatly(wasn't from the mixer). Each show they recorded 16 tracks(gonna list them from memory so i'm probably gonna screw up.
1. graffin vocal
2. jay vocal
3. brian vocal
4. jay bass
5. jay bass 2nd signal
6. brian guitar first signal
7. brian guitar 2nd signal
8. hetson guitar first signal
9. hetson guitar 2nd signal
10. bass drum
11. highhat
12. tomtom
13. snare top
14. snare bottom
15. cymbal 1 top
16. cymbal 2 top
17. cymbal 1 bottom
18. cymbal 2 bottom
Probably added something unnessesary and forgot something, but whatever.
Now if only they would do that with this.
Guess you could always try giving the soundguy 20 bucks to hook up to the mixer, but that might get you kicked out.
PS, Beyond Electric Dreams please

Maybe if I was able to get "on the list" for the Vegas show I could get a recorder in for the podcast. That'd be pretty cool (/dream).
Regardless I'm going to sneak my tiny recorded in via my shoe and I'll probably also try to record the show through headphones on my iPod.

Yeah, I don't think it would be too expensive. The band recorded Tested as an experiment, if I recall correctly. They didn't need Atlantic's help (I think). I would love to hear recordings of these seemingly amazing shows. I don't see BR doing a Radiohead/Nine Inch Nails and release them online, but something similiar would definetly be possible. NMoH expanded would be a perfect oppertunity for this.
To the guys talking about the songs not being rare enough: News From the Front, Too Much to Ask, The Answer, etc. Don't complain. Seriously.

Su, I don't think it would be that expensive. It's not like we are asking them to remix the whole thing. Just put all soundboard recordings on a CD+DVD expanded edition of NMoH and it's more than enough for me.

Hey Jay, couldn't BR specifically allow recordings for each of the sets? Another option would be to tape the shows officially, but that would prolly cost quite a bit. BUT it's something that could be added to the NMoH Extended!
It's heartwrenching for everyone not able to attend not to see even a recording of the acoustic songs. :(
(I can imagine Mike slapping himself for not having witnessed News From The Front live.)

br could play an acoustic setlist, a covers only night, or the same old setlist and people would line up around the block to see them. they're that good. the only band that maintains a solid core sound structure while getting better each year. i've never been disappointed by any of their shows, even when they'll admit that they're "off" that night...they still sound so incredible.

Do these places really not let you bring a cell phone inside? I can't imagine that is the case. Pretty much every cell phone these days is able to record some video, and while it's not great it would at least be cool to get something like NEWS FROM THE FRONT recorded.

...that being said, i too am "frustrated" that there are no recordings because being at the shows were great, and the setlists are fantastic, but i'd love to share a recording of acoustic songs with those who couldnt be there. i'm a huge bootleg collector too, so i understand your frustrations. look at all the years and all the times br has played at the hob in usa and there are, what, only 2 recordings.
some people have jumped on planes from the east coast to go to these shows...so it's not impossible. i have a shitty camera phone and i cannot take a decent picture, especially with no zoom or flash. if i could record it, this place would be the first to hear about it.

to those disappointed by a lack of recordings from the last couple nights,
no recordings does not equal wanting recordings. i can understand that many of you are frustrated because they're arent any. it's not that californians are spoiled (br did originate from so cal), or that we don't want to record anything. heck, i've been going to shows at hob in anaheim and los angeles for years and i've never successfully snuck a recorder in, despite several attempts. it's a difficult feat, as this is los angeles, where security is really really tight. all you foreginers: our country is super paranoid since 9/11, so the security measures clubs and venues are undertaking is understandable. furthermore, this isnt some dinky, 100 person club from the dc suburbs or something, this is a very popular music venue, so you can expect a high level of security....

Still, Fabio, don't you think that the second and third theme nights were more disappointing in terms of setlists? I don't know, I'd have expected more rarities, i.e. Entropy, Walk Away (will they ever play that one!), Big Bang, Anxiety, Slumber, Tiny Voices, Don't Pray on Me (!!!). Take Kerosene or Man with a Mission for instance. They have played these at one point or another in the last 4 or 5 years... Anyway, yeah, good to see that they are putting more effort on their live shows. I bet HOB somehow had to do with this for fear that they would not sell out as many shows when ppl found out it would be the same setlist over and over again.

I went to last night's show (3/2). It was the same core set list as the previous 2(Infested, Sorrow, Suffer, etc...). Here are some of the 90's songs they played:
Generator (festival version)
Too much to Ask
The Answer
Atomic Garden
Recipe for Hate
KEROSENE
American Jesus
MAN WITH A MISSION
Struck a Nerve
Leave Mine to me
Stranger than Fiction
Infected
The Gray Race
A Walk
Them and Us
And then they busted out:
NEWS FROM THE FRONT!
Greg said it was the first time they've played it live.
They also did an impromptu version of "On Broadway", for no reason at all, which was pretty damn funny. All-in-all it was a very good show, though they played nothing from NS or TNA which was pretty disappointing.

went to the show last night. amazing show, best i've ever seen them (and that's saying a lot cause i've seen them countless times). everyone was on and everything sounded so awesome. they played not one but (count 'em) two encores...which is something i've never experienced at a br show. nonetheless, i'm going to see them at least 3 more times on this tour so i'll post some better reviews.
in the meantime...here's the setlist in order, since i've noticed that other people just listed the songs
recipe for hate
new dark ages
damned to be free
doin time
i want to conquer the world
los angeles is burning
we're only gonna die
part 3
slaves
do what you want
stranger than fiction
faith in god
in the night
suffer
punk rock song
latch key kids
pity
no control
generator
oligarchy
let them eat war
infected
voice of god is govt
american jesus
encore 1:
dearly beloved (acoustic)
skyscraper (acoustic)
encore 2:
along the way
21st century digital boy
sorrow

Was in the very front row of the show at Anaheim, 3 feet in front of Greg Graffin. The show was really great. Lots of the old stuff, which the more devout fan can appreciate. I also got the set list from Mr. Brett after they finished. www.myspace.com/whiterussianpunk
you can find a pic of me with the set list. The acoustic songs were also a real treat. Will be at all the other shows at this venue. Thanks guys.
