hmm well to answer that is hard even for me. Ive been a fan since the early 90's and even helped vulture with the answer before its merge with this page, then when he left I moved gears to the sister site bad-religion.net. I worked with simon for a while doing other reviews and photos for some shows, doing the news, Infoooseeker.
Long story short the site owner pulled stings for me, since I do represent the site in USA. Also my wife and I are very cozy with the HOB staff now lol.
Dont think I dont pay for anything pfft.. ive spent almost 3000$ (I live 6 hrs north of LA in Sacramento. I never got a free ticket and nor would I ask for one, same goes for a backstage pass. Ive never had one.. ever. And ive seen br well I wont make you puke and just not bring it up. Long story short.. old friends.. a bit of luck, and decent timing. This is all for the fans too, we dont do anything for profit like most photographers.
Hope to make you proud though I think Ventura will be covered well.

I would have no idea how people wouldnt know the old stuff but I did talk to alot of fans who only knew the NMOH album PERIOD.. nothing before it. So im glad new maps did its job pulling in all kinds of people.
BTW fans... Ive said it once but ventura is open camera policy venue!!! just no pros! this means fans abound.. please dont blind the artist! They work for the pleasure of the crowd... and of course the paycheck but well... lol... nm

Yeah, and I thought he said not to sell him shorts. As far as the performance goes, I thought Greg was way too nasally and agree with RatGuy.

Although he seems to loosen up a bit more in Dearly Beloved.

I'm actually disappointed at the key in which Greg sings. It'd been perfect if Mr. Brett had done the duet in his higher pitch. Greg's singing is almost monotone and it detracts a bit from the songs' awesomeness.

I liked dearly beloved most and I think Brett referred to it as never before heard cuz kroq doesn't play it you know... That's my guess but I think dearly beloved would make a sick single... Its the best song on the cd... Btw brian is a great guitar player n brooks god damn... He is a musician no question he has been in suicidal the vandals he does coke commercials he recorded on avril lavigns album in 04 he did 2 tracks on korns album he is in BR he was in a band "bad4good" you tube that its hilarious and his whole family are drummers chad wackerman famous for playing with Zappa and bozio and john and his father chuck

Also, wasn't Infected like the second single for STFiction? I didn't quite understand why Brett referred to Dearly Beloved as something never before heard (or sht to that effect) when in reality I'd say both Infected and New Dark Ages were more of a surprise in the sense that they had never done those acoustically, while Dearly Beloved, it was common knolewdge they had been doing it during this World Tour of California and Nevada.

ikillkenny, I assume you haven't watched the Big Bang VHS, you know, Greg and Brett in that rowboat, and also Greg wearing shorts -and socks long enough for anyone to notice it was a bad combination- in many of the songs.

Also I think this is the first time I've ever seen Greg Graffin in shorts. Maybe he should stick to the long pants.

Hrmm, Infected acoustic is sort of interesting. It's also interesting how that song has sort of snowballed in popularity well after its release. Goes to show how the Internet (and I guess Guitar Hero) have changed the music industry since the days when that song came out.

I guess Brian and Brooks are more "musicians" than the others. It remains to be seen how they approach the acoustic style, but let's remember that Brian was asked to play in REM once upon a time... :p

Generally the idea of BR acoustic leaves me a bit cold. They aren't really "musicians" in the sense that they might change the arrangements and make it really interesting. I expect they'll just play the songs very much like usual except with acoustic guitars rather than electric.
Which is fine, and they write great songs, and I consider songwriting more important than technical ability. Out of those three, I think Dearly Beloved was best, Graffin seemed more comfortable singing it, maybe cos he'd warmed up by then

I really loved the comments by Brett concerning the lack of scarcity that is beginning to take over the music industry, mainly due to the shift in our general economy towards a more information based landscape which in general, has the potential to marginalize the concept of scarcity to next to nothing. This is of course assuming, we the people prevent abusive gatekeepers from developing...
Back on topic, though; what they have in store for is this sounds awesome. I cannot wait for the new edition of NMOH and the acoustic EP.

first, thx for the rip! i dont want to spoil the fun, but i am not sure if acoustic song versions from the next album will be on it, i think brett said while they were doing the demos for the new album they had the idea, and at the end he says this is one of the new songs, refering to dearly beloved, so i assume, the new songs (additional to the couple classic ones) will be songs from NMOH. i hope i am wrong.

like the other guy was saying the kroq thing went great i really loved all 3 songs but Brett specifically stated that there are 7 new songs plus all the classics done acoustic and that the new songs are an acoustic based ep for the next album!!! Omg I can't wait and screw anyone who doesn't like submission complete its an amazing songs and the end is long specificaly to allow brooks to solo similar to the ending in beyond electric dreams where every other measure brooks does a tite fill... listened to kevin and bean on the way to work (not able to record it...sorry JUDGE...sounds like someone else already is).
pretty exciting....brett and greg said that nmoh will be released with an ep of acoustic material that are acoustic guitar demos for the next album (yes...that's right...next br album!!!) brett said that fans have asked how songs are formed and him and greg thought it'd be cool if they showed them. they also talked about an hour long segment on how acoustic demos were made, plus a live dvd recording from a hob vegas show (not certain if previous or from this tour). brett said it was mult-mic. they talked about greg's teaching and then were going to play infected acoustic (which brett introduced and said they've never done before). unfortunately i couldn't play kroq at work so i'll have to wait for the recording. i'm sure it was unprecedented.

TORBAR, if i remember correctly, in the interview with the guy that makes the mp3 podacast, with jay and brian, they said they made one for honest goodbye and it wasnt good.

Nope, they did not make a video for Honest Goodbye. They were going to, but they didn't ever record it or anything(Jay said so in an interview, and that it was just pretty much a concept and nothing more)

they made a video for honest goodbye, and, surprise, surprise, it was crap, so it never got to see the light of day. and to me honest goodbye sounded unfinished, filled with too many oohs and aahhs for some missing lyrics.

I thought Honest Goodbye was a great single. Why didn't they make a video for it? And maybe this is off topic. But why wasn't there a video for I Love My Computer? That could have been a hit with the right video, I think. On last.fm it's the most popular New America song and there is this sims self made video on youtube that has a lot of viewers.

I think dearly beloved and before you die both would make great singles... A video for dearly beloved would be nice.

Boring news this. When are they going to release Into The Unknown on CD? It's miles better than their first album and in terms of spirit and vibe is much closer to their later work than their first album. BR are mature lads who can see this - stop thinking of the potential impact its release may have on sales. Are BR really punk - lets see it by releasing the album - if not: what's the problem?

Yes! I don't have school until Tuesday next week! I'll actually be able to hear this. Unlike the Loveline episode: when I finally checked the site to see if someone I liked was going to be on there soon, there was five minutes left of the interview.

They didn't mention a time. Usually their main guests are in the 8 O'Clock hour, but that's just a guess based on past listening experience.
