Do the Sony's have a Mic In port?

Hey ikillkenny, so I recorded my band with the sony. But there is some distortion. Every amp and drums was at a range of 6 feet. (almost 2 meters in Europe)
I don't remember if standing in a concert was less loud. SO don't buy this mp3 player yet.

Yeah I knew there was quite a few, but I didn't download any as when they started coming out I was only able to download a certain amount of data a day. Now it's unlimited though. Which ones would you recommmend?

Well, recording near the front is a bad idea, but you still can get a crappy recording near the soundboard if your mp3 player isn't so hot at handling loud noises (like mine was at the Vegas show).

StevenF, do you have a link to that show? I didn't download any live bootlegs from the Graffin solo shows as I didn't think they'd sound good (Aside from the Silver Wings soundboard one of course).

I second that let us know... ive only seen poor quality from live mp3 recordings... mainly due to people thinking the front of the concert is the best.. when sitting in back middle near the soundboard will net you zero crowd chatter and 100% sound.
But you sacrifice... I was unable to watch the graffin solo show in SF just so I could record it for you all.. meh

Well, if it turns out good I may look into getting one. It would be good to have a small recorder that I can bring into clubs no problem that gets decent enough quality, especially if I can improve that with a microphone.

By the way, I would suggest trying to find options on the recording device to set it for loud environments or something.

I haven't recorded a live show yet. I am going to when BR is playing in Amsterdam. Tomorrow I'll bring it to my band practice to see how it can handle loud music. It has a built-in mic.

Oh, hey, I see you did mention the model. I'd still like to know if you've recorded a live show or not (and whether you used a microphone or not).

What specific model do you have, tommy? Have you recorded at a concert before? If so, were you using the built-in microphone or an external mic?

You should buy a sony mp3 player. They have good voice recorders. Mine (nwd-b103) can record 192 Kbit mp3. And it sounds very good. And it was only 29 EURO.

Sorry, but no, neither of us have losless. Both of the files we posted(check the previous news item for ikillkenny's mp3 file) are directly what came from our recorder. Mine is a 32kbps wav(max my chinese ipod knockoff could do).
Also, I agree with get the fuck out of the front if all you know is Sorrow, Infected, etc. It's great that they are getting into BR and actually going to a full show and not just warped tour or whatever, but stop pushing your way up front infront of hardcore fans that actually know the lyrics, just so you can yell out "Sorrow"(I must have heard people yell that 3 times, including 2 girls that when they heard the opening chord was like ZOMGTHEYREPLAYINGIT)
I would have recorded onto my casette tape recorder, but its sound activated and doesnt record somethings, it only records for 60ish mins, and also, the HOB would have noticed it.

Torbar.. am I to understand you both have lossless versions we could possibly help edit but you two only upped the compressions? lemme know if so. Might be able to help an uncompressed file but both of your guys shows are highly HIGHLY compressed.
Had you a PC I could help you in a second.. apple.. no clue, just give the WAV to a friend with a pc and it will work in just soundforge even.. (a very tiny program) lemme know if you need it I have an extra copy layin round (before they merged to sony though)

Also, with the first night, some guy was banging along with the drums, really hard, onto the thin metal part of teh barricade, so there would have probably been like, 5 minutes of banging.

But you'll have to skip the first half hourish or so, and ignore the end, because all you'll here there is ikilkenny and i talking, and me buying a suffer tshirt, because every time I try cutting that out and saving, it ends up being 2gb.
