of course I'm glad theyre releasing it, but come on. Making us pay for thevsame 16 songs twice is NOT a favor. Its another one of bretts business concepts. Of course I appreciate it but I'm not gonna be seduced by epitaphs bullshit. I'm buying it because I love BR, not because I'm accepting a favor. Let's be real.

lol... I don't normally post, but this aaaaaaaaaa guy is so funny I feel compelled :-)
A favor is defined as 'an act of kindness beyond what is due'. When I pay money to a CD retailer, them giving me a CD in return isn't an act of kindness beyond what is due... them giving me a CD in return is exactly what is due. When a record label distributes CDs to CD retailers they are not doing them a favor, they are expecting payment. When a band records a new album for their record label, they are not doing it as a favor... they're doing it because somewhere down the line they expect payment.
In other words, where money is exchanged for goods and services it is not a favor, it is a business transaction.
When your plumber comes to fix your pipes because you pay him a sum of money, is he doing it as a favor or is it for the money?
When an artist paints a painting that you buy from a gallery, did he do it as a favor or is his business selling paintings?
This is a very simple concept :-)

Once againg I'm forced to ask would you rather they didn't release this stuff Sean? Releasing this stuff is a favor to the fans. I don't know why I have to constantly reiterate myself but you spoiled people don't get it. You just want to be spoiled and expect everything to be handed to you for free. It's a favor and the next person to comment better answer the question I asked at the beginning of this comment and every other comment I've left or else don't bother commenting because you're too ignorant to warrant a response. Bunch of spoiled brats on this site I swear.

no, what he's saying is that he's disappointed that the completely new songs are acoustic.
I think it's cool. I do hope they do full band versions of them too, we always hear bands go from electric to acoustic. It'd be nice to hear it go from acoustic to electric.

"disapointed the new songs are only acoustic ones."- having the "normal" version on it would be totally senseless. what would be the point of that?

Jau, if the Deluxe version has two different covers(US&Euro), then don't you have to buy two copies more?? (:-
I too have the tendency to buy the same albums in different variations..
A signed album would have been nice to have but back when I got into the st.-team business it didn't take long for me to find out that they screwed everyone outside the US by not shipping anything anymore abroad! Now, that was a time when I got fuckin' pissed!!

Am the only one who thinks the one lyric that's initally regonizable on the front cover (dedication is the price you pay) ironic, considering this is a re-issue?
I mean in a funny way though, as my own dedication to BR has led me to own 3 copies of the same album (1 on vinyly & a signed copy of the cd, though those were free via street team, & one import version), and a 4th one in the form of a re-issue (with worthwhile extras).
That being said, I need to get back to posting news; I'm annoyed I missed this one myself :\.

Make, no mistake it is a favor and I ask again would you rather they didn't release this stuff? Maybe I was brought up differently because in my house it was always "be grateful and say thanks if someone does you a favor" and not say screw you it's not good enough. I guess you prefer the latter though. That's what disgusts me about the modern world no one is grateful for anything they all just take it for granted or say it's not good enough.

Hey Albaholic, welcome to the real world, of course Epitaph is going to try to make money. Why wouldn't they? Not trying to make money kind of screws the idea of a successful business. They're counting on the fact that people like you are going to buy it and yes it is a favor, would you rather they didn't release this stuff? It is a favor and it is going to cost you.

Wow, for someone who tries to school me in the facts of real-world business, you sure do have little understanding of the simple idea that selling something to someone does not amount to doing them a favor.

Damn.. as excited I am about this, I sooo wish they would have done this "deluxe edition with a different album. I mean NMoH was great and all, but a deluxe for that one seems kinda soon. timing is just right for a deluxe version of Against the Grain!!!!
I mean, if they added all those unreleased tracks with AtG and a DVD of that.... HOLY SHIT...
Either way I'm psyched... NMoH was amazing too....

Cool, thanks. :)
For fans in the UK, NMoH: Deluxe is available for pre-order on play.com for ?13.99. According to the site it's getting released over here on the sixth of June. It's got the weird red cover.

the setlist was pretty much standard, ill try to sum it up with no particular order, the show was around 65 minutes, as scheduled almost. i dont think i forgotten any, but could be, cause of the annoying crowd surfer. the crowd was also into it, a lot of sing along. greg also mentioned they managed to visit groezrock every two years, as promised.
Setlist:
Sinister Rouge (with Intro), Before You Die, New Dark Ages, Requiem for Dissent, Big Bang, I Want To Conquer The World, Flath Earth Society, 21st Century Digital Boy, Suffer, Do What You Want, We Are Only Gonna Die, Fuck Armageddon, Generator (Festival version, started by the audience, after jay interrupted greg starting it), Recipe For Hate, American Jesus, Stranger Than Fiction, Infected, A Walk, Punk Rock Song, The Defense, Sorrow.

Seconding that wish for alternate versions of sorrow and god song. Any acoustic version is a good version but I really hope that *all* (i'm sure the demos will, and I'd imagine skyscraper would have to) the tracks have Brett and/or greg tracked in as background vocals a la the acoustic suffer demos.

If I wasn't so hardpressed for money right now I'd honestly go to Germany to see them (if there ain't any Scottish dates after all).
I'm just hoping that this is just a short festival tour and that they're coming back to play proper gigs over here later on.

sorry, banjo didnt read it, i did what i usually hate most abnut some people on this comments section, i didnt bother to read all the comments through, shame on me.
BUT, you proposed the customer should pretend buying something different, while my solution is to let epitaph do the labeling, so you dont have to lie to your conciousness. as far as it concerns me, i lie to myself everyday, so i can live with your solution.
on another topic, anyone been to groezrock yesterday? the band was pretty fresh and alive, i guess they had a good rest from the previous shows. and jay, next time think twice when setting up your gear, standing with the back to the audience with low hanging trousers and letting something drop, i think we will soon see some "scandal" butt pictures on the net. but then again, it could be a smart marketing scheme for the deluxe album, i mean DVD with NMOH...

they should just change the name and concept of the cd, and people will stop complaining. label it as a DVD with a bonus version of NMOH and additional acoustic songs, and everyone will be happy. or sell the dvd with the acoustic songs without NMOH, price it the same as the NMOH deluxe version, and let people chose ;-) ...

I think this are great news. I can't wait to see that DVD and to hear those new acoustic tracks. I hope Sorrow and God Song aren't the ones that came on the Japanese edition of NMOH (Even if those are great I'd prefer to have other versions).
Now, to all the people complaining, first of all, there's not even a price for this deluxe edition so what are you complaining about? We don't even know if the new stuff will be available elsewhere for those who already purchased the album! Secondly, I doubt it would cost less if it did not include NMOH tracks. I mean it would still be a CD + a DVD + a booklet. Anyway if you don't want to buy it that's ok but It's not as if there were only two or three additional tracks, there are indeed a lot of cool things in this re-issue.
So rock on BR.

Looking at the new cover, I'm hoping they include lots of lyrics sheets like they did with All Ages. It was interesting reading the alternate lyrics to Suffer.

Banjo's solution:
Just pretend that you've bought a new BR live DVD which just happens to have a copy of NMOH with it. And lots of extras.
Easy.

"A bunch of people competing to be the world's most ungrateful douche."

Yet another schmuck who thinks that Epitaph has done us "ungrateful douches" some kind of great favor by offering to sell us stuff (including some of the stuff they've already sold to us last year).
I told you that I'm going to buy it; I just don't see it as any sort of "gift to the fans". In fact, the only ones who are going to be passing along a gift will be me and the other 2 people who commented here... in the form of our NMOH cds to a friend.

In fact, the only ones who are going to be passing along a gift will be me and the other 2 people who commented here... in the form of our NMOH cds to a friend. |

@aaaaaaaaa: It's not that some of us are "too cheap" to buy it. For me, it's one part, "holy crap, I can't afford this!" and one part, "why are they re-releasing an album they just put out last year?" Why didn't they just release the acoustic EP/videos/concert on its own? If I had the money, I'd buy that! I mean, let's face it, the people who are interested in this stuff probably already bought the album when it first came out, a re-issue is not really all that necessary. But, whatever.

You all sound like a bunch of whiny high school girls. Why don't you just be grateful for the new material rather than bitching about it. I guess that's the way of the world today though, A bunch of people competing to be the world's most ungrateful douche. If you don't think its worth the money don't buy it, the world won't stop because some ungrateful douche won't buy an album. No one cares that you're too cheap to shell out a little extra money for some great extras.

I'm somewhere in between these opinions from all of you guys. I already bought the album last year, so I'm not so happy I have to buy the album again for the new songs and bonus things. But if nobody bought the album last year, then it would have never sold this good. ( 35 on the billboard 200 is pretty good for BR) And unsuccessful cd's never get deluxe editions. And I don't care that much spending an extra 20 euros a year on my favorite band. So I will buy it

Guys, it's a pretty simple concept to understand: fans who bought the CD just last year wouldn't consider it a "gift to the fans" to have to pay for it again.
And if this is a sign of things to come, I just may download the music next time BR puts out an album and then wait for the loaded special edition the following year before I open my wallet. How's that for being a fan?
All that said, the new tracks are very exciting, the acoustic versions should be good, and the List show was great from what I've seen so I'll take my solace in that and hope it doesn't cost too much.

first of all people bands don't make shit in their record sales its a very small profit for a band though bad religion probably makes mores
eeing as Brett owns the label.
money is made touring a percentage of each ticket sold as well as the hundreds of dollars in merch sold
every night... When they did
their socal tour me and my party alone bought about 100 dollars in merch tween 4 people so they do have the money tog
ive an album away. Just thought ide say that. Frankly I feel it is a reward to
the fans whether we buy it or not thats why we are called fans welikewhat they have to offer

What irritates you so much, W!? Is it because you're one of those completists you mention and you know you won't be able to avoid buying this? If people feel they have the right to download albums on the internet (which I do, by the way), bands have every right to (re)release albums every time they want. After all, it's your choice to buy them or not, so I don't see what's the big deal. By the way, Webmaster, Dearly Beloved acoustic and Skyscraper acoustic ARE also previously unreleased tracks.

"And this is the problem with the new models. It's that people now think they deserve things for being fans." lee, you're absolutely wrong about this. There's not a new entitlement issue here just because a couple of bands did a new thing. It all has to be considered on a case-by-case basis, and this press release is using the concept of a gift to supplant the notion that completist superfans might feel taken advantage of. Whether that's BR's intent or not, that's how this thing is written, so that's what we're taking to task. BR have NEVER been very good at reading the fans' pulse and putting out this kind of thing (ie - Tested, the Epi reissues...Live at the Paladium rules though!). Someone, somewhere just doesn't get it. But that's ok, they excel at making music. There must be a legitimate market for this release or else it wouldn't exist, but to pass it off as a gift for fans is a bit dishonest.

I agree with Albaholic. Almost all of us I'm sure bought NMOH the day it came out(Pretty much a year before this comes out). Why should we have to pay again for some new stuff, along with the same 16 songs we already have.
With that said, I'll probably just give my old copy of NMOH to a friend when this one comes out.

While I don't mind paying for the extra stuff, I don't see how BR are "giving back to the fans" by making us pay twice for the same album we bought last summer.
Sounds like those fans loyal enough to have actually gone out and bought NMOH when it came out aren't getting as good a deal as the average non-fan who comes across this at Virgin Megastore and thinks "Ooh, there's a bunch of extras on this one! Ok, I'll actually buy it this time instead of downloading."
I'll still pick it up though. I just don't see this as any kind of favor or gift.

"If BR wanted to do something nice for fans they could offer this bonus material as a free download in addition to selling it with the fancy new artwork."
And this is the problem with the new models. It's that people now think they deserve things for being fans. Bad Religion don't have the bank role that trent reznor or radiohead have. it's a LOT easier for them to give away their material.

What exactly is so "giving" about reissuing an album that's a year old? I'm sorry but there are new models in place now. If BR wanted to do something nice for fans they could offer this bonus material as a free download in addition to selling it with the fancy new artwork.

then again, same with no substance.

A CD of acoustic extras - so why not reissue Into The Unknown in its own right then? It rocks a lot more than this extra CD of acoustic tracks is likely to and will be available to a public who may never have heard the album. Releasing MHOH on CD deluxe because fans may be interested in how Greg and Brett write songs may appeal to very hardcore BR fans but why bother, really?

Alright, I was pretty excited about the live performance DVD until I read it was from that MySpace show. Did ANYONE here attend last year's Pre-Warped Tour party/show at The Glasshouse in Pomona where Bad Religion were the "SPECIAL GUEST"? I was there and remember them having cameras recording the show, even a long armed crane swooping over the crowd but I never heard or saw any footage of that anywhere.
Brett? Jay? Any word on what that was for?
