Remember kids: teacher's performances vary between classes; it is, after all, still a job.
I would jump at the chance to sit in on one of his classes, and I wouldn't give creedance to any rumors unless I could go to the actual class for about a week or two.
I say this because one of my history professors was rather boring, and did rely on powerpoint a lot, but at least one day of the week she would not use powerpoint, and be completly interactive with the class concerning a topic (discussion each friday).
This also occurred at other times, where she would go "I don't feel like droning off on material today, it get's boring sometimes."
To each teacher their own style, methinks, but sitting in one time just isn't empirical enough for me.

good news! But I don't think they already play it. Coz I requested the song two times and listened to KROQ for a few hours. And they didn't play the acoustic version. They did play the regular version

I actually sat in on his LS1 class. he is boring. I'm sure he can connect to students during office hours and after lecture. and he is nice. but that has no bearing on how he performs during a lecture. the rumors are right... he is unfortunately very boring and stares at a scripted piece of paper telling us of his scuba diving episodes in hawaii and how he saw a sea cucumber evicerate.. not that funny when its scripted. sorry!

I've read from others who are in his class that he's a really good professor, but who knows. When I met and talked with him at that event he seemed very warm and engaging...I got the feeling that he really loved interacting with young people.

Final comment: the not connecting with the students very well is surprising. "Talking down" too... you'd figure for someone who's been on stage for over 20 years would be less introverted.

When are people going to learn that HTML doesn't work here? I'm considering that post as spam until further notice.
ps
Boring? Really? I wouldn't have expected that.

If he really does, I think I would burst out laughing, and be forced to leave. That would be... man, that would make my day.

@Brandon: I don't know, man... I've heard that the lectures are pretty boring and monotonous, and as a person who's suffering through a dry biology class, I can safely say it sucks. Although, people can exaggerate, so who knows?
