Here's a short review of Budapest gig on June 11th 2008.
Bands warming up the atmosphere were Multiball from Slovenia and another band from Hungary. They were OK though I think the theatre would explode anyway when BR showed up on the stage. They haven't been in Hungary since 2000, so Graffin first apologized for the abs(tin)ence. The setlist was similar to Leipzig gig, only they didn't play You and Along the Way (or I don't remember well).
Funny thing was that Graffin said that his wife was Hungarian but they divorced after 8 years. So everytime he comes to Hungary he has this "bitter-sweet" feeling. Can't blame him, heh.
They have made a couple of mistakes when playing, but they always got out in very spontaneous and honest way. There was this ironic moment when Graffin made a mistake on "No Control".
Graffin especialy introduced Brian Baker from Minor Threat and translated his surname in Hungarian language.
The first song of the encore was "theatrical part of the show" as Graffin put it. There were Graffin and Baker on the guitar, but I don't remember what song was it. If anyone knows it, please refresh my memory...
The sound was great, except Jay's backup vocals were too low.
The Delux edition of NMOH costed 15? (12? if you paid in Hungarian forints) and was sold out before the end of the show. Damn! Instead I got the Hetsons autogram on the t-shirt. :)
BR, see you in Milan (IT) again and I hope that won't be it in Europe for another 10 years!

Dogbert; that is so funny because I had some email contact with her.. I thought she was his assistant or something, at least, I thought she was in 2005.. I asked her if she could arrange a personal signature on his book for me.. that is kind of funny..

Jesus Christ... the fangirl won't be stopped today. The chick Graffin is with now, from my understanding, is the chick who worked with the publishing of his dissertation. Last time I checked the two of them were engaged. Considering that he mentioned a divorce at the show, I'm willing to bet that the girl he was referring to was his ex-wife and not his fiancee. Ugh... knowing/conjecturing all of that, creeps me the fuck out.

BootlegZ!, you haven't been doing your homework properly...
legendary, I remember either Jay or Brett commenting in an interview that the most bizarre experience onstage was in the Netherlands (if memory serves) when a midget was thrown to the stage. To top it all, security took the poor midget and threw him back to the audience. |

As for Greg, maybe Greta is of Hungarian descent or maybe he was just joking. It fit perfectly to introduce Suffer. Anyways, the Hungarian crowd was awesome, the band was unbelievably spectacular, so full of energy. Greg's performance was mindblowing. Also, some guy threw pants on stage and they said that it was the most disgusting thing ever to land on their stage but Jay joked it could be a cool tradition... so start throwing pants, people :) |

That someone Graffin was dating, I believe, is the same girl that was handling his PhD dissertation orders. Can't remember her name, though. Very helpful and kind person. Oh, yeah, now I do. Allison Kleinheinz was her name. Hahaha, you realize you're a BR hardcore fan when...

i doubt he had another wife after greta. he was dating someone during his cold as the clay tour, as i heard about her, and before his performance, he was spotted with her. maybe greta was hungarian, but greg doesnt strike me a as one night stand guy.
"maybe she will" was written about his ex-wife, as was most of american lesion |

The first song of the encore was "Bored And Extremely Dangerous". They also played "You", i clearly remember. And this thing with Graffin's wife... uhm, i searched around a bit on the web, and it says "In 1988 he married Greta Maurer, whom he met in a course called The Intellectual History of the US." They divorced in 1996. Ok, that's eight years, but... he started the story like "once i made love to a Hungarian girl..." This sounds like it happened after concert and she was some groupie :DD But they came to Hungary first in 1998!! Maybe second wife? I didn't found any information about it. Anyway, this is some interesting news for a Hungarian BR-fan. :-) |
