FOR CLOSE TO 30 years, Los Angeles punk band Bad Religion has been railing against societal injustices, using guitar chords as ammo in a consciousness-raising assault on the establishment. [...]
"When you’re 15 you’re just an angry sort of Tasmanian devil sort of thing," says Bentley over a cellphone from the Toronto lakefront. "You’re just striking out at everything, and hopefully as you get older you get a little wiser, and a little more poignant about what it is that upsets you."

Jay Bentley delivers an honest answer to a straight-forward question.
Twenty-eight years and more than a dozen albums later, what keeps the punk rock band Bad Religion going?
"Nothing better to do," chuckled the band’s long-time bass player. "It’s the most fun you can possibly have. You’re with friends and you play music. You get to be creative. You get to talk to people. It’s a blast."

I don't think Brian messes up live... They've said several times he's the most proficient guitar player in the band which also makes me doubt that.

I like Brett's soli... Brian messes up quite often live.
I'd be already glad if they decided to bring back Sometimes It Feels Like. Love that song.

I don't think Brian needs to "respect" Brett's solo's. Brian's solo's are so much cooler. And I don't mind if songs are a bit different from the album versions. If you want to hear the album version, then play the album. The setlist is already very predictable, so every note that is different is welcome.

dogbert, I just checked out that video on youtube and damn, I wish they would do that too. Not enough energy anymore probably to go as crazy as they did in the video.

Anyway, answering Danny, yeah, I hear you, but I guess it must be boring for them to replicate the studio stuff day in and day out. Or maybe there are certain things that were done with another tuning (mind you, I know nothing about music theory), who knows... I don't like it much either when Brian does his own solos and doesn't respect Brett's. Sorrow, case in point.

Danny Holloway's comment reminded me of my wish that they dust off Sometimes it feels like %$#@= so that they can go berserk during the brief interlude (check the Big Bang VHS). I know Brooks could pull off something interesting.

In Toronto they used the interlude to play the customary snippet of Tom Sawyer by Rush and it was incredible.

Hey its off the subject, but does anyone else wish that they would play the musical interlude of Generator like they do on the album when they play it live, instead of the way they just screw around? I'm speaking of the part after greg sings "its the generator..." I really wish they'd play the guitar riff like normal, rather than just using it as time to mess around. I think that part is an excellent element of the song and I wish it wouldn't get messed around with. Thoughts?

fuck i would love to hear that too, but most likely the setlist will be the same as all the other canadian shows have been. I'm seeing them tonight in Moncton then going to Halifax tommorow to catch them. Heres hoping they play some different songs at the 2 shows!
