We'll kick off with yet another list. This time it's a list called "Rock Starts Against Religion" from www.gigwise.com. Here's what the intro text says:
"While bands like The Killers and The Jonas Brothers are openly religious, there are many more who either rubbish religion completely or despise everything it stands for. Gigwise takes a look at a collection of bands and music stars who have shunned, mocked or slammed religion either in interviews, through their songs or artwork. Some are atheists, others express mild disapproval and at the other extreme there are anti-religious groups who vehemently slam the church, God and Jesus Christ. Beware, some examples are shocking..."
If that last line didn't catch your attention I don't know what will. Anyway, out of 25 Bad Religion appears to be the proud owner of the 19th place. Here you go, have look yourself on gigwise.com.
Thanks to Tommy for reporting this!
Next up, some guy called Tim had an outburst of creativity and made a theme for the Blackberry Curve smartphone. Personally I won't go near a phone that has more buttons and functionality than my pc, so I'll just quote the site to specify which models the theme is for: "BlackBerry Curve 8300, 8700 and 8800 4.2.2+ OS"

I'm pretty sure the next item can be headlined on www.aintitoldnews.com, but I couldn't find any reference to it in the news archive... so here goes.
It appears that Bad Religion's American Jesus is discussed in a book called "Jesus Made in America" by author Stephen J. Nichols. It was published on May 30, 2008.
"In his quest to uncover the American Jesus, Nichols examines most of the important cultural developments in America’s history, from colonial preacher Jonathan Edwards’s sermon, “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God,” to 1980s punk band Bad Religion and its anti-war, anti-George H.W. Bush song, American Jesus. Nichols leaves few stones unturned, delving into para-church movements, the commodification of Christ, contemporary Christian music, as well as Jesus through the eyes of Hollywood notables such as Mel Gibson (The Passion) and Martin Scorsese (The Last Temptation of Christ)."

I haven't read it myself and I seriously doubt I ever will. If you have, drop us a line and tell us how much of Bad Religion is in it. Thanks.
We've heard a number of Bad Religion covers lately and some of them were pretty damn great. Here's a guy called Chris Williams who posted a short blog about Suffer and specifically the song What Can You Do?. He recorded an amazing acoustic version of this song. It's a little bit different than usual but great nonetheless.

It is definitely very Juno. Maybe Hollywood can put it in the next million dollar blockbuster "indie" film.

The "what can you do" cover sounds a bit like it could be on the Juno soundtrack. If you're into that sort of style I guess it's not bad. I prefer the BR version with the rock n roll bassline.

Thats hilarious what Cradle of Filth did in rome. Figures they get detained from doing nothing wrong. It takes balls to do something that crazy and offensive.
