The dates and cities for the 2009 Vans Warped Tour have just been announced. Scroll down to see them or visit the Tours & Shows section on this site where full details can be found.
Also, as reported on punknews.org Kevin Lyman (the creater of the Warped tour) is promising forty minute sets rather than the traditional thirty minute runs. The show will feature less stages - just one main stage. Kevin is hoping to keep ticket prices identical year-over-year. He also takes a moment to comment on the "whiners" who complain about the lineup no being sufficiently punk.
Listen for yourself:
The 40 minute instead of 30 minute sets sound like a huge improvement!
Anyway, here are the dates as promised...
More announcements are coming so be sure to sign up for the Vans Warped Tour newsletter to stay updated.

When Kevin's naming off bands that are going to be on the tour it seems like his face kind of goes sour when he gets to about Chiodos/Underoath = )

Along the same line as the Maryville gripe... Bad Religion has played in Washington, D.C., before, but there's nowhere in D.C. big enough to hold the Warped Tour (except he National Mall, ha, ha.) The venue is likely to be Merriweather Post Pavilion which is in Columbia, Maryland (where it was this year), or at the Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, Virginia.
Nevertheless, it's obvious that they are not listing the specific venue location, but the nearest major city to that location, so most people will be able to gauge where it is without having to Google it.

Yeaa... Sleep Train is in Marysville, that's what I thought. Yet the site lists it as Sacramento. I also noticed on livenation.com or some other site that it's in Wheatland, CA?? Also, I think what's listed as Shoreline, San Francisco, CA is the Shoreline Amphitheater which is in Mountain View, CA?
Another one: Columbia Meadows, is it at Portland, OR or Deer Island, OR or what?? US venues are too complicated for me :P

ok I know this is nit picky but
how come every band can never get the sleep train date right?
Its not Sacramento.. its Marysville,
its like saying oakland is san fran... ..only on a smaller scale.
even bands that have played before at the same venue still dont remember where it is.. but its insulting .. marysville = cows... we have no cows here in sac.. just guns and old houses and maybe a train or two
one main stage = less bands imo.. less conflict too but gunna suck for us photographers.. means less stages to pick from and higher probability of missing some of the bands you came to shoot :P
doh
but 40 min = awesome and its about time! orrah

40 minute sets i guess makes going to warped tour for just BR a little more worth while. Also, i dont care what this dick says, its true that warped tour is nothing but trendy hot topic sponsored emo crap. If he could of just kept naming more bands like the first few he started going on about (Bad Relgion, Anti-Flag, Flogging Molly, NOFX) then i might actually go to warped tour more often, as opposed to just 04', which was the last good year i've seen for the festival.
Bad Religion isn't on the list on warpedtour.com.
Well, Jay mentioned it right here on this site. Also, Kevin Lyman himself mentions Bad Religion in the video above.
