Remember that 7" from 1981 that was re-released on Record Store Day that took place on April 18? And remember that it was limited to just 1000 pieces and was pressed on colored vinyl?
Well, after several different colors showed up on ebay, including regular black ones, we weren't too sure anymore about what exactly was released that day. Today we have answers.
For some reason Epitaph decided not to release any more details than what we heard on the 6th of April. Yesterday, however, Sue from Epitaph emailed us with some more details on the 7". Because we already spotted the pink version, Sue even went the extra mile for us to find out what exactly was going on here.
Apparently Epitaph Europe has two exclusive colors. Also the quantities of the different colors differ significantly from what was initially promoted by Record Store Day. So it's safe to say that what Record Store Day was promoting was, basically, incorrect. Call it a lie if you want.
Epitaph US:
Black (regular) | 400 |
White (regular) | 400 |
Red (translucent) | 400 |
Bundle (Black + White + Red) | 100 |
Details: True to the original pressing with "We're not Bad Religion..." etched on the A-side and the words "... You are" on the AA-side. Packaging is an original double fold out sleeve and includes an insert lyric sheet printed on both sides, also true to original issue.
You can still get them at Kingsroadmerch.com for just $5.99 or $14.99 for the bundle.
Epitaph Europe:
Pink (regular) | 500 |
Black/Red marble (regular?) | 500 |
Details: The same as the US version with just one difference. It appears that a lyric sheet is not(!) included in the European version. This, however, has yet to be confirmed.
So there you have it. And many thanks to Sue, Craig and Erik at Epitaph for the extra information!
Extra tidbit - The second batch (of 1,500) that was pressed also featured an etching. However, instead of the planned "We're not Bad Religion..." and "... you are", it said "We're not Bad Religion..." "Ellipsis U R". Read more in The Answer.

For anybody who cares, I got copies of the EU pressing in the mail today and the sleeves are different as well. The art is the same of course and the card stock seems pretty similar but it's not a quad fold out like the original and the US reissue; instead it's more like a gatefold LP would be, where the left side is glued and the right side holds the record, with a much more square/thick spine. It's also more of a matte black finish than the more shiny US version and it has the Euro Epitaph address on the back, instead of the US one.

@jg, You're right, there was indeed a mix up. The one with the incorrect run-off is, of course, the second batch of 1500. Not the 1984 12" re-issue. I fixed the article.
I'm also not sure whether or not all other details that we have in The Answer are correct. Most stuff in there has been written over the course of many years and, in most cases, lack source references.

Who documented the details here for the original release? Some of this information seems questionable to me.
The details about the 12" "Original" reissue sort of imply this is the one with the "Elipsis UR" run-off but mine doesn't have this at all. It also isn't clear if it's meant that this is the one that came out in 84 or if the 1500(?) more 7" reissues came out at this time but in either case I would certainly expect to have seen more of them around in California in the mid 80s, if either were true. Additionally, are you certain about the original "You Are" run-off text on the first(?) 500(?) I'm not disputing it but has anybody ever seen one? I have four copies of it (from various trades over the years) and they're all "Elipsis UR..."
Su, was that supposed to come with the bundle while supplies lasted or something?
I don't know; that's why I'm asking! It's pretty cool, but I wanted to ask in case that was some album cover or something.

Got the order shipped mail today. I bought them separately and they've made it a bundle even though they were sold out.

Wait a minute... What do you mean by sound of br on vinyl?! You opened the wrapper??? *shocked*

Yeah, I stand corrected. A real fan must buy at least one bundle, each color vinyl separately and another bundle if you really need to actually listen to the album. Duh!

A real fan must buy the bundle AND each of them separately. It should be a priviledge for any BR fan to have Brett empty your pockets.

Is there any differences other than price between bundle and buying the three of them separately?
Ana, what e-store in Europe (I assume Netherlands would have the best deal?) would you recommend?
The problem is that none of the internet retailers sell the 7". The EPs have only been issued to actual brick and mortar store as far as I know. Also, you couldn't choose the color even if you ordered it since they will be shrinkwrapped. Your best bet is really eBay (Germany, UK etc.).
I want that red/black marble. That sounds really sweet.
The original print (with a run of 500, I think?) is actually correctly etched with "We're not Bad Religion..." and "... You are". It was only the reprint (1500) that featured this mistake.
Yup, you're right. I stand corrected ;)

Also, airmail for the bundle to Germany costs more than the bundle itself. Could've used the money to buy the European prints... :/
