O.k., there's been a lot of talk of Bobby leaving the band and I got dozens of emails asking me to confirm or deny this. Well, it's true. At first I didn't want to write it here because I promised Bobby not to do so. He sent me an email in late April telling me about it but also asking me "not to say much about this to anyone until it's officially announced by the band. That way it makes everyone's life involved much easier to deal with". This is his explanation on that email: "Honestly I can't see myself continuing much longer as a drummer for any band let alone Bad Religion. I'm suffering from rotary cuff pain and full blown tendonitis in my right arm and shoulder which makes it almost impossible for me to play anymore ( ... ) I see what opportunities lye ahead for the band and I personally don't want to be the one guy in the band holding them back (recordings, touring, bigger possibilities in the future, etc)". But other people knew about this (even before I got Bobby's email) and it started spreading rapidly through the www. People posted on the BRML that Pete Finestone had confirmed Bobby's departure, as had Jay Bentley in the chat (on the official website), where he said they were already lookin for a new drummer. Then it was reported by Punkbands.com, Punknews.org, Punkrocks.net and even Billboard.com (here) published the following: "Gurewtiz (sic) says that former Minor Threat bass player Brian Baker, who replaced him on guitar in 1995 will remain a part of the band. Gurewitz has yet to announce whether he will tour with the group. In addition to writing, the group is also using this time to try out new drummers. Bobby Schayer, who had been with the band since 1992, left the group last month due to an inoperable rotator cuff problem". Now it looks like even the new drummer is decided already: Brooks Wackerman, the ex-Suicidal Tendencies and ex-Infectious Grooves is the man (he played in the new Vandals record). This was also announced by Jay three days ago on a radio program. Thus, I figured there was no point in me keeping this "secret" anymore, specially when I was getting several emails every day asking me why I hadn't posted this information here yet. (Thanks to Boof, Vanja and everybody else who emailed me with information about this.)
