Is it just me, or does the intro of The Resist Stance remind you of Black Sabbath? Nice to finally hear Won't Somebody with the complete band, although as an excellent song it's great acoustic as well..
Yeah, definitely opinion man. I feel Empire was one of their best efforts. It's not pure hardcore the way that Process is
"Broken" is especially a pure hardcore song, usually I listen to Black Flag and stuff but Broken puts their songs to shame :p
I love the song "Broken" though.
On a different note, maybe I'm biased but I would take Suffer any day over Process. Process was a very important record though and I could even make comparisons to Suffer as to what it meant history-wise for the band.
ATG is my favorite and though I have a deep love for NMOH, it doesn't quite surpass ATG on my list. But it may well be #2 or 3 (I'm a Gray Race fanboy).
I have never been truly disappointed with a BR album, though like anyone I have my favorites. There is a reason these guys are my favorite band - they make great music no matter what direction they go. I love that they can have a record like Empire (which isn't my fav) with a song like Sinister Rouge and then an epic song like To Another Abyss.
I really like fast little songs like Can't Stop It. Hoping for one like that on the new record. Can't wait to hear it.
p.s.: I would suggest that to insinuate that The empire strikes first even remotely fits in the holy trinity of Suffer, No control and Against the grain (to me) is quite insulting to those albums, and I think it's positively, objectively not correct. Although Process and New maps does (I actually even consider both better than their holy trinity equivalents). To me it has always been perfectly evident (and I feel one could easily make an objective case) that Empire IS the modern Recipe for hate (only worse, but that's opnion again).
Yeah, definitely opinion man. I feel Empire was one of their best efforts. It's not pure hardcore the way that Process is, but it really shows their songwriting ability and shows what these guys were capable of. I agree with the idea that Process, Empire & New Maps are the new Holy Trinity (obviously not AS 'Holy', but at least a new 'Awesome Trinity'). New Maps is the one that doesn't come close to living up to ATG in that respect though. (obviously MY opinion! ) :)

Damn, now I'm torn again (as I was before reading this). First I was like, yayyyyy, it's "fucking fast", which is a really positive sign. Then I was like, noooo, they stressed the recipe for hate comparison again... they just don't go together, though! RFH is a slow album! It was the slowest BR had ever done in its time. So what is Jay saying? It's gonna be a fast but expermental album? We'll see...

Sounds really interesting. I really liked Resist Stance and I know they wouldn't give us the strongest songs off the album now. I can't wait!

Great news:). I didn't consider won't somebody or ressist stance that special. Same happend with h & m and requiem before NMOH was released and it turned out great though, and now fast & surprising (experimental?) sounds very interesting.

I'm glad that there will be surprises on the new record. I was starting to wonder if they would just make a New Maps of Hell 2, which is what I felt Resist Stance was giving indication of.

Yep. They're playing the O2 ABC. It's already on the Tours & Shows section.

Resist-Stance has a neat intro like Recipe for Hate (the song). ;-)
BTW, I think that intro should be played again half way through the song as a kind of bridge or break.
Oh yeah, after reading those highlights, I just shit my pants. I wouldn't say TESF is the No Conrol of the 00's, but I definitely agree on Suffer=TPoB and ATG=NMoH, specially the last one. NMoH is such a good record. If Brett manages to come up with a song as good as Prodigal Son or Dearly Beloved, I'll be surprised.

Resist Stance would hardly make me think of any RFH..
..Or prolly Resist Stance would then stand for Skyscraper or so....

@Jay, if you read this... When comparing new material to old material, what are you actually comparing? Is it the lyrics, music, melodies, or perhaps just a gut feeling you have?

This makes me unbearably anxious for the new album.
In a good way. I love Recipe for Hate, so it'll be neat to see the comparison.
