Bad Religion has announced three decade-spanning sets. The band will spend three days at New York City's Irving Plaza with Off With Their Heads and The Aggrolites. They're calling these three shows: A Celebration of 30 Years.
October 20th: Playing songs from How Can Hell Be Any Worse? to No Control [LiveNation]
October 26th: Playing songs from Against the Grain to No Substance [LiveNation]
October 27th: Playing songs from The New America to The New Maps of Hell and Beyond [LiveNation]
Wait a minute! No Substance and The New America? Could it really be?
Tickets go on sale August 28th at 12pm for $27.50 and VIP 3 Day Passes will also be available for $99.00. [LiveNation]
The 3 Day VIP Passes include:
- a ticket to all 3 shows
- front of line access
- a group photo taken with the band one hour prior to doors on 10/26
- a copy of the new CD
- a limited edition poster created just for this event.
Note: The band will not be playing the full albums, but only songs from the aforementioned albums.
Bad Religion @Irving Plaza, NYC 5/15/1998
Extra tidbit - This is not the first time Bad Religion is playing themed sets. In 2008 they also played a bunch of similar shows at House of Blues.

depending where you stay, rooms in nyc arent that bad. best western at south street seaport are only 180 plus taxes. from that hotel to irving is only like a $10 cab ride.

I hope so, themarkovian. Also hope they will make a DVD of these shows.
I am going on the 20th and 26th. I'm doing the 3 hours from Baltimore to NYC and back each night rather than drop $$$ on a hotel room. 08/30/2010 at 10:16

by the way, isnt jay their booking agent...?
but currently and for a long time now their average ticket prices are 30 euros / 30 dollars (?) i think, everything that is much higher for a single concert is fishy... 08/27/2010 at 15:31

Exactly. I'd never trust a site like Absolute Tickets. It's looks too cheap/ home-made/ amateurish for an "official" ticket seller (what kind of company uses a hotmail e-mail address!?).

I don't get it Denyse. Aren't you going to get a refund for the tickets you bought for a show that now isn't going to happen? And can't you then just buy tickets to the Irving Plaza show that same night, in the same city? What's the big deal?
Heh, I think this is the first time I've ever heard someone on this site get mad at BR for playing EXTRA shows in their town. 08/27/2010 at 15:14
It was announced on the Bad Religion Tour Dates, on the Bad Religion Site.I saw it with my own eyes, and Stub hub, Absolute Tickets and another agency were selling them.
That date was indeed posted on badreligion.com and BR's MySpace. However, even though they were posted on these sites, they still weren't officially confirmed. My advice is not to buy tickets if they're not for sale on Ticketmaster and/or Livenation, or if the show isn't listed on the venue's website.

I saw it with my own eyes, and Stub hub, Absolute Tickets and another agency were selling them. and Yes I understand that NOW there are 3 shows for only 27.50 a piece... totally lame. I am holding my tickets now and that's all that matters in the end. DONE... 08/27/2010 at 14:26
And yes it was at the Roseland Ballroom(...)
But how could you have bought tickets for a show that's not even taking place?
There was indeed a list floating around the internet on which the Roseland Ballroom was mentioned for October 20, but that date (and others as well) was not confirmed at that time. Not even ticketmaster, livenation or the venue's website mentioned anything. So now there will be 3 shows in total in NYC (Irving Plaza) and none at Roseland... 08/27/2010 at 14:14

It wasn't unreasonable at the time because they were only going to play 1 show in NYC!!! now they are playing 3...
And yes it was at the Roseland Ballroom over by where Mr. Letterman does his late night. It's cool I still absolutely love Greg Graffin... but just not his booking agent all that much right now! All and All I just got my Tix in the main and am grateful we get to see them on this tour. Just none too pleased about the money I am losing! No worries 08/27/2010 at 14:03

Also I should point out that I highly doubt the band was responsible for pricing changes. It was probably just the venue. Anyway, you paid the price, so obviously you didn't think it was too unreasonable at the time.

It's funny. Back in the day we found a Brian Baker Junkyard 'baseball card' that his sister had. He saw no other option but to burn it in an attempt to keep Brian's Minor Threat image alive. Luckily BR picked him up and we can all forget about those days.

I love how they used a Sears Portrait Studio background for their "tough" band photo. Greg probably puts his old skull jacket on every once in a while... then pukes up his dinner and cries himself to sleep :D 08/26/2010 at 05:41

I wonder will they play at least one album in it's entirety. If they did, it would probably be Suffer, because I remember earlier in the year Jay said he wanted to play that in it's entirety and I was thrilled because that meant they'd play Part IV (my favorite BR song), but the rest of the band didn't want to do it.
Most definitely they will do this in California too. If they do it in January/February, I will be there!
sure hope so. Don't get me wrong. I think it's cool that they're doing it in the first place. And BR fans in NY probably don't get to see them as much as I do being from LA. It sounds to me a lot like the "themed" setlists they did a few years back with "the oldies", "the not so oldies", and "the new" songs. However, the one difference that I see, if I'm reading the announcement correctly, is that in 08 when they did the themed setlist the majority of the songs were from the corresponding era. They were still throwing in some NMOH, of course they closed with Sorrow, etc. It looks like this time all of the songs they play will be from the corresponding decade, without those filler songs?. 08/24/2010 at 08:48
Wow, wish I lived in NYC... They better film this for a DVD release!
My words exactly. They should also release a CD+DVD SPECIAL EDITION. That is, a TRIPLE-DVD and TRIPLE-CD PACKAGE one for each decade + A SIGNED PRINT of an album front cover. Also, DVDs would come with behind-the-scenes material of the band rehearsing some of these tunes. And if Bobby is still living in New York, he would get to play some songs for the 2nd show. ;) 08/24/2010 at 08:27

It doesn't make any sense to me why they would do such an amazing event in NY, when they're an LA band. Oh well. Ahardy55 & n1ck, enjoy the show.

I've lived in NYC for the past 5 years, and this is the first time I've ever been glad about it.

I suspect that the information came from Livenation... and that they filled in the album names themselves. If the only info they have is: 1st decade (1980-1989), 2nd decade (1990-1999), 3rd decade (2000-now), it's only logical that the guys at Livenation mentioned TNA and NS. Of course, not knowing these albums are most likely to be skipped.
10/20 - Playing songs from How Can Hell Be Any Worse? to No Control 10/26 - Playing songs from Against the Grain to No Substance 10/17 - Playing songs from The New America to The New Maps of Hell and Beyond 08/24/2010 at 02:07

I wish I could go there! If they do play stuff from No Substance and New America that's really good news. hopefully someone will post a video of rare songs on youtube or make an audio recording.. Anyway how much fun would it be to see all the 3 dates? I can't think of anything right now that is cooler than that

Yep, DVD please for us non-US residents. I'd go to NYC but I can't swim 3000 miles. My feet would get cold.
