According to Brett Bad Religion is currently recording a Bob Dylan cover for an upcoming compilation record for Amnesty International. The recording is taking place in the Sonora Recorders in Los Angeles and is produced by Brett and Greg.
Apperently Rise Against also recorded a song - Ballad of Hollis Brown - for this compilation to mark Bob Dylan's 70th birthday and Amnesty International's 50th anniversary.
A similair compilation called Instant Karma has been done in 2007, which featured John Lennon covers, to raise money for Amnesty Internation to help victims of the civil war in Darfur, Sudan.
Currently there are no more details about this compilation or which song Bad Religion is covering. What song do you hope or think they've chosen?

Duett?
The other stars involved in the forthcoming tribute include Rise Against who will play their own spin on 1964's "Ballad of Hollis Brown", and Bad Religion who will team up with Lucinda Williams on 1997's "Tryin' to Get to Heaven".

In an effort to salute Bob Dylan over his contribution to music throughout these years, an all-star tribute album is being planned. Electropop artist Ke$ha, British singing sensation Adele, and music vet Sting have been tapped to do the honor.
The CD is titled "Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International", and is expected to be released in the U.K. on November 21 and Stateside on the following day. Proceeds from the album will benefit the human rights group.
Ke$ha is set to cover 1963's "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right", Adele is going to take on 1997's "Make You Feel My Love", and Sting will join forces with Dave Matthews Band and My Morning Jacket to tackle on 1975's "You're a Big Girl Now".
Commenting on her involvement in the project, Ke$ha tells Rolling Stone she's breaking down into tears when recording the cover because Dylan is one of her musical heroes. "You can hear the snot running down my face," says the singer who claimed her fame through single "Tik Tok".
"When you think of me, you wouldn't think of Bob Dylan," she gushes. "My music is more about going crazy than politics. But he's a huge influence - he writes his own music and means what he says. I write my own music and I f**king mean every work I sing."

Patti Smith will additionally cover 1967's "Drifter's Escape". "I wanted to do something I've never attempted," she states. "We had just completed our new album, and instead of drinking champagne we decided to cut the song."

I'm unfortunately not familiar with all his songs, but "Masters of War" could certainly be awesome.
Alternatively, "The Times They Are A-Changing" or "Blowing In The Wind", but they are among his most popular songs, I believe, and might be taken by other bands.

'Love is just a four letter word' ... which I think was only recorded by Joan Baez.
Seriously, my only guess is that it's going to be a song from one of his early albums.
I like most of his stuff up to and including the album 'Desire'.

I'm struggling to think of any. I know the Xmas songs were studio, but I don't think they count. Same with the Ramones song as that was a soundcheck if I remember correctly.
Awesome. :D

I have to say, there is one song that stands out, if they did "The Hurricane" that would make my day!
I have always thought it would work as an amazing punk cover, in fact I was going to cover it myself but could not find a singer who was interested in doing vocals for it.
Really looking forward to hearing whatever song it is, after Bad Religion Bob is my favorite lyricist.

Think highway 61 revisited could make a good punk song, obviously 5 believers off blonde on blonde is one of my favorite fun up tempo songs. Something from the acoustic period like Boots of Spanish Leather, Girl from the North Country would be cool. Graffin's baritone could do a lot with a number of songs.
[quote=Banjo]Ahhh!! So cool!
I think BR can handle covers of most singers/bands, but I have no idea how a Bob Dylan cover would work. Needless to say, they'll nail it, but I'm intrigued. Here's hoping for a Blonde on Blonde song to make it interesting!
