Earlier today Soundwave announced the cancellation of all five Revolution festivals that were going to take place on September 24 'til October 3.
Here's the exact text that can be found on soundwaverevolution.com:
"It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of the Revolution Festival.
Many of the festival bands will still be coming to Australia in that time period and team up to bring some very special shows. There will include multi band/mini festival line-ups in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. We will be announcing these events in the next 7 days.
Tickets purchased online will be refunded automatically as soon as it can be processed. If you purchased from an outlet, refunds will be available from point of purchase."
Soundwave Revolution promoter AJ Maddah had this to say on a radio station earlier today:
“We were scheduled to make a second announcement on the first of August – we had our festival co-headliner on that announcement... Their circumstances changed at the last minute and they had to pull out and unfortunately we don’t have enough time to replace them and we didn’t really want to go ahead with an incomplete line-up.
We could have taken the option of linking through with the line-up as we have now – it would have obviously still been a much better financial outcome for us than to go through the road we have – but we just didn’t want to put an inferior product on the market."
If more details start to surface about the replacement shows/mini festival and in particular Bad Religion, we'll let you know right here!
It's already been said that the new shows will be on the same dates or very close to it in all 5 cities.

Thanks for the Facebook link Marty.
I'm crushed that we miss out on seeing Bad Religion perform this year, but relieved to read that they still plan on coming here. We just don't know when that'll be yet.
Jay, could you give us a rough date as to when you guys will be back in Oz?

I just read that Bad Religion won't be touring Australia and are doing Peru instead now.
I guess it's understandable, since there just wasn't enough time to organise new venues, dates, ticket sales, etc.
I hope they crucify the event promoters of Soundwave Revolution.
I paid by cash, only to have to be told that i'll have to wait 2-3 weeks for a cheque to be sent by post. And the real kicker (which the TicketTek girl told me in confidence)... the reason why they took so long with coming up with a "refund process" was that the promoter was debating whether the customer should be charged anything (eg. booking/cancellation fees).
Doesn't Jay check this page/forum from time to time?

I think the biggest problem is finding a venue at such short notice.
They've always played at the Thebby here in Adelaide, but it looks like it's booked up for other acts and not sure where else they could possibly play here. They could try get the Entertainment Centre, but would have to charge a fortune... though, i'd be happy to pay $100+ just to see Bad Religion play.
As for the tix, i'm not risking posting them back and waiting for the $330 to be posted back... i'll just drive up to the head office and get the money directly from them and scream bloody murder if they gimme a hard time.

Yup, we're still awaiting a refund too.
On a slightly positive note: http://musicfeeds.com.au/news/soundwave-revolution-mini-festivals-info/
$97 is still a bit stiff, but i'll a wait and see what the line up is before I decide whether to go or not.

I've been trying to find out the same thing intrepid. The closet news I have is that yellowcard are playing in Jakarta with BR and that yellowcard are coming to aus after so hopefully BR comes with. I too am still waiting for my refund.

Is there any word from the band members as to what's happening with the Australian tour?
Since they'll be doing Indonesia, it would be a major bummer (to put it mildly), that Australia misses out due to the cancellation of Soundwave Revolution.
Has anyone got a refund for their Soundwave Revolution tickets?

It looks like the "culprit" was Aerosmith. Who knew that they could bring down an entire music festival? Although they were also having very bad ticket sales, as the article points out.

One "co-headliner" pulls out and it gets cancelled... ridiculous.
The line-up was extraordinary as is, and would've been worth it just to see everyone else perform.
Will Bad Religion still be coming to Australia this year?
I'm in Adelaide, but i'll happily go to Melbourne to see them!
Of the acts I wanted to see most at Soundwave, it would have to be Bad Religion and Sum 41. Now, if those two toured together, i'd wet myself.

I'm curious about a festival that is made or broken by a single act.
made me wonder too. Who would have that much of a draw? A reincarnated John Lennon singing dropkick murphys tunes? Peculiar.
And considering that they hadn't actually announced this act when they pulled the plug (when everyone else was announced months ago). It's not that like they were going to have thousands of irate fans who had bought tickets specifically to see whatever the band was being up in arms about it and demanding refunds!
