Update: The result of Brett and Jay's 'hang out' is the following almost 20 minutes long video in which they answer some questions that people asked on Twitter using the #AskBR tag. The most interesting stuff being said, though, was about the upcoming record. To summarize the highlights:
- Brett's favorite song is still Stranger Than Fiction.
- The new album is a definitely more political than The Dissent Of Man, but not as political as The Empire Strikes First.
- Jay thinks the new album is 'the most likely' album they need to make right now in respect to it being a personal record or not.
- While recording the new album on tape they didn't rely on computers much at all and it was in some ways more like the old records. The result is something that is way more true to themselves. Making the record felt like the old days and inspiring.
- The 'fishtank' will be back.... Not. (Wait, isn't this site/forum the fishtank these days?)
- When asked if there are songs, parts or lyrics on the new record of which Brett is not sure about how fans will react to them, he replied that even though this is always the case it's even more so with this record. There are a couple of things that Brett is being nervous about. Instead of being nervous about it, Jay is actually more excited to see how people will react.
Brett said that it's his favorite new record in a long time; there are a couple of things on there that they haven't done before - On November 5th they'll be doing another Google Hangout but then with the whole band. They'll be announcing the new record and talking about it and...... PLAY A NEW SONG.
It appears that Brett (@BrettGurewitz) and Jay (@jay_bentley) will be doing a Google Plus hang out on Thursay 10/25 at 3:30pm PST (today!!).
You can ask them anything by already tweeting questions using #AskBR. Keep an eye on badreligion.com where the video will most likely be displayed.
