True North has become Bad Religion's highest charting full-length to date having debuted at #18 on Billboard's Top 200!
Not only that, but the band's 16th studio album also hit the #1 position on the iTunes rock chart and iTunes Top 10 album chart, the #1 position in Los Angeles and #1 in overall vinyl sales. In its first week of release, the album sold an impressive 18,295 copies.
The record is also #4 on Billboard's Alternative Albums; #5 on Billboard's Independent Albums; and #7 on Billboard's Top Rock Albums, as well as #1 on Billboard's Tastemaker Albums, which is a list for the week's top-selling albums based on "an influential panel of stores comprised of independent retailer coalitions and smaller regional chains".
But if that wasn't enough, there's great news coming from Europe, too!
True North debuted at #10 position in Germany (highest since Stranger than Fiction) and the band charted a career-high #14 in Switzerland! It also charted #11 in Rock Albums and #17 in Alternative Albums in the UK!
Other positions worth mentioning are #5 in Finland, #27 in Austria and #31 in Sweden.
Thanks to labamba, Robo Pilgrim, satanlives and nropevoll for the heads-up!
True North #17 in UK Top 40 Indie Album Chart
Could Finland be where True North is after all?

For those who might be wondering, since the band went back to Epitaph, the other two albums that made it to the Top 50 in the US were The Process of Belief at 48 and New Maps of Hell at 42, selling 24,256 and 15,980 copies respectively in their first week of release, according to HITS Daily Double.

Sell outs! Only joking. Good news, I wish they'd sell considerably more records. Do these charts include digital sales (downloads..)?
I am a little confused here as well. New Maps of He'll débuted at #33 of the top 200 with 60,000 sales. So im wondering if digital downloads are not being counted in the 18000 mentioned earlier.
Do you have a source for that? Considering it's the awesome New Maps of Hell, it wouldn't surprise me at all. And for some reason I don't really trust those HITS Daily Double numbers... :s
