UPDATE (9/26/2015): Apparently Kings Road made a mistake with the tracklisting of the 7"; both the European as the US versions have the same tracks on it. So there's no difference between those two!!!
UPDATE (9/19/2015): Unfortunately the shipping of the new book and 7" packages has been delayed for about 3 weeks. It's expected that the packages will be shipped by the third week of Ocotober according to an e-mail by Kings Road/ Epitaph:
"We've received word from the vinyl pressing plant that the Greg Graffin Population Wars 7"s will not be ready for another 3 weeks. We expect to ship all orders by the third week of October. Unfortunately, in the current world of vinyl production, this can happen and is completely out of our hands.
Concurrent with our policies, we will not be shipping any partial orders. All orders will be shipped complete when we receive the records."
"Faith Alone", one of the newly recorded songs for Greg Graffin's limited exclusive 7" can be now listened on Kings Road!
This version appears - together with The Answer - on both the European and US release. Earlier we posted the tracklist of the European version. Now it appears that the US version has 2 different tracks on it!
European release:
1. Faith Alone
2. The Answer
3. Past is Dead
4. Fields of Mars
US release:
1. Faith Alone
2. My Poor Friend Me
3. The Answer
4. Changing Tide

Sounds a bit like a slightly digitised version of Greg Graffin from the original track singing ghostily over the track with some alterations. Although it's a decent addition, doesn't sound as enthusiastic as you might suppose about that song. Some props for seemingly not getting the book-promotion memo, though. Bit of a confrontational song, nonetheless. Less 'earthy' than some of their older solo recordings, so to speak. You sort of wonder if there isn't something of interest in the claim that war should be seen in an overall, historical perspective, as part of an overall process rather than atomised, but in that sense it seems like skipping over the social sphere straight to the evolutionary might raise more questions than it answers.

Hadn't read the update here.. So I got really bummed out that there is just one version of the 7".
The US shipping wasn't that cheap - as usual..
I received my book and 7" a few days ago. Here's the track listing of the 7":
A1. Faith Alone
A2. My Poor Friend Me
B1. The Answer
B2. Changing Tide
Can anyone from Europe confirm that their 7 inch has different tracks?
Think I saw Frod say he asked Graffin about this, and he said he never recorded Fields of Mars. I think the tracklisting is probably the same.
But yes, can anybody confirm?

I missed the Graffin event in D.C. on September 18 because I was in the hospital with my wife, who was in labor. She gave birth to our first child, a boy named Emmett, on Saturday the 19th. I sure hope Greg writes another book and does this again, because if I missed my last chance to see him perform solo, I'm gonna give my son shit about it every year on his birthday as long as I live, hahaha. I'm thinking maybe he gets a Bad Religion-themed gift every year, wanted or not ;)

I've updated the news item about the tracklisting error. Unfortunately we (Marty and I) don't have internet connection during the week for the upcoming 5-6 weeks, so it's impossible to keep the news up to date. :(

Went to the book promotional event in Portland, OR on Wednesday. Greg played Don't Be Afraid to Run, Faith Alone, My Poor Friend Me, Talk About Suffering, Land of Competition, Footprints in the Snow, Sorrow, The Answer and several other old timey folk songs I didn't know. He read parts of Population Wars, alternating between reading and performing and then did some Q&A at the end. Some people asked about Greg's 1986 cassette recordings and Bad Religion unreleased demos like The Truth and if he would ever professionally release them. That was embarrassing in my opinion because clearly these are recordings fans were never intended to hear and now he's fielding questions about them. Then some people asked questions related to his books which felt a lot more appropriate. Then he stuck around to autograph the new book and take pictures with fans. I thought of a question after the Q&A related to BR: how do you feel about not performing most songs from The Gray Race through The New America live? Do you wish you could perform more of those songs?
Anyway, I didn't pre-order the vinyl because I figured I would just buy the book at the event, which I did. Would anyone be willing to hook me up with all 6 recordings?

can anyone who already ordered the euro version confirm that the download links do provide the same songs (my poor friend me and changing tide instead of fields of mars and past is dead)
I ordered the vinyl from KRM EU and I got dl link for Faith Alone, My Poor Friend Me, The Answer and Changing Tide.
it seems really strange that it took everyone involved in the production so long to figure out they put the wrong tracklist online.. and what a coincidence that it only happened just after the problems at the pressing plant occured..
Yes. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if this mistake was no accident at all. It's as if they are taking ripping off fans to a whole new level. Before they'd put out old stuff in new colors or cds with one extra song. Now they make you believe you are paying to get something different, when you are getting the exact same thing. :D
Well it's probably just an mistake. But where the hell did they get the idea that the European release would include Past is Dead and Fields of Mars if this isn't the case? That's truly an weird mistake.
I bet there will be some angry people with two sets of the same book and same vinyl...
Yeah, it's not great. A couple of days after I order the import, the domestic bundles came off backorder. I could've saved a bundle, especially if I had decided against including the T-shirt in order to take advantage of the cheapest domestic "media mail". In the end, I will have paid well over twice the domestic cost of the most important items (the book and the vinyl), and will apparently have no different songs to show for it. And it may be that all of my items ship from Los Angeles to Germany before returning to the American East Coast. How wasteful. :-(
Moreover, it is sad to find out that acoustic "Past is Dead" and "Fields of Mars" versions may not even exist. Those could've been superb.
How are the other songs? Because I think faith alone sounds boring.
I happen to agree with you -- the "Faith Alone" arrangement is just a bit too simplistic and rote -- and so was relieved to find all 3 other downloads far stronger than the first.
"The Answer" takes a gentler (less strummy) guitar approach and that gives the vocals more immediacy. "My Poor Friend Me" becomes a spectacular folk anthem (funny, because that's the song I most worried would turn out boring). And "Changing Tide", which I don't especially love on True North, is quite rousing in semi-acoustic form too.
I can't wait to hear the how "Past is Dead" and "Fields of Mars" turned out.
---
So, to tally up the comments below, it seems we're got 4 EU orderers (located in the EU) who got the US download. We're got myself (EU orderer, located in the US) with the US download.
We only have 1 EU orderer, seemingly located in the Basque, who has the EU download in his or her possession. And we have no idea whether or not the US Kings Road store sent out downloads at all. (Were the US vinyls delayed?)

If you're looking to hear him sing in a higher key though, you'll like Changing Tide--he sings higher in that than he did even in that Father Christmas tune.

I'm in the US but ordered the EU version as an import when the US bundles were listed "out of stock" for a few days. Realizing I'd be getting a track selection that I liked even better helped me justify the shipping splurge.
Anyway, I just clicked my download link and it is the US version. So it's nice to know that I'll have all 6 tracks in one format or another, though as LV97 writes below, it would be even nicer to wind up with all 6 in digital form.
The "My Poor Friend Me" version is actually quite good.

While I'm confident that the songs will get ripped and uploaded, official digital versions would be better of course. Quality wise and, ComicSans wrote, that vinyl only gets very exclusive, meaning it excludes the fans who can't afford (or for other reasons can't get) a record player and sound system.
To put it another way: If the band won't release official digital versions the songs will be ripped resulting in lower audio quality and less revenue for the band/label.

i rarely buy 7" because its just a couple of minutes before you have to stand up again, walk over to your turntable and turn the side.. often just for one song on each side.
i would also really appreciate it if this would turn up in some different form, 10" or 12" with a couple more songs would be awesome!

I have absolutely no issue with vinyl (although I don't use it, but mostly for budgetary reasons).
The thing about it is that it is pretty damn exclusive, and I just wish that content like this was provided in a way with a lower cost of entry. If it came with a digital version I can easily enjoy I'd happily buy the 7 just to have it! I probably will anyway, and rip it or have it ripped, but I guess the completist in me will have to hope someone will share both versions.
Still looking forward to the book!
