It's not like most of you didn't already get your hands on a "copy" these last couple of days, but today it's official!
So after six(!) long years... what do you think of it??
the roughly -5dB RMS isn't as bad as either, though I'd like to hear that with about 3dB more dynamic range.
Reminds me of the sample at the beginning of the Pennywise song "Goodbye Bad Times":
Most people insist on listening to rock music at -3dB, but it was actually intended as a physical assault.
Wish I knew the source of the sample.
Edit: I have no idea what dB the music I listen to is recorded/outputted/whatever at. I long since abandoned physics.

A solid album overall imo, especially with how focused in subject matter it is.
-I am absolutely addicted to the title track. Lyrically great even by BRs very high standards, 3 separate and distinct hooks which are all awesome, will probably go on my list of favorite BRs songs.
-Paranoid style is a great punk song for me(my favorite style of punk anyways). Fast, politically charged, great basis for the subject matter and tying it into what is going on today. The song I listened to the most before the album came out. Was awesome live too, saw them weekend before last here in Denver.
-Chaos from within - good choice to start the album, frenetic, urgent pace, especially with the vocal overlays.
-What tomorrow brings - song does weird things to me emotionally, especially the way Greg sings "It's what tomorrow brings". Cant explain it, but totally love the song.
-The Approach - Was a standard/middling BR song to me at first, but enjoying it more the more i listen to it, especially the whole last part after "Welcome to the show".
-Big Black Dog - Love the line "Big cyber weapon, little traitor in chief" and the drums during and immediately after. Guitar solos sound like generic rock to me.
-Faces of grief - Only enjoy the song when I'm in the mood for it, but really glad they still do songs like this that are outside the range of most BR songs.
-My Sanity, Lose your head and Candidate - good tunes, fairly middle of the road BR songs for me, but sometimes really catchy and enjoyable, especially Candidate.
-End of History - still undecided if I think this one is just good or really good, I go back and forth.
-Downfall and Since Now - not bad songs, but certainly the lowest of the album for me, but I do dig the pace change in Since Now when it hits "Since Now".
Still crazy to me that almost 40 years in, BR can still put out high level music that hasnt been tamed or mellowed out my time and age, and still sound great live.

i think this stands very monumental especially after the band's 38+ years of existence. Despite all you who prefer to listen to the melodies, sounds, harmonics, etc I still truly believe the LYRICS and MESSAGE is the main pivotal stage for BR. Its clever lyrics like always and a ingenious name for an album. AGE OF UNREASON and its title tracks. My favorites are Faces of Grief, Paronoid Style, Age of Unreason,Lose your Head and What tomorrow brings.. People tend to forget that Greg and maybe were influenced by reading old American history and revolution and the government of today. Therefore it teaches us a lot of how our society has changed or remains the same in some aspects.
NIce work BR!!! look forward to 1 or 2 more albums.
Pure genius!!. I like it. I don't see any flaws with it other it lacks music videos.

Overall it's my least favourite Bad Religion album, but still a solid 8/10. I really do like the drums on it, it's simplistic and tuned down, giving a very nice Stranger Than Fiction feel to it. I will write a short overview of the tracks on it here below.
01. Chaos From Within - Great, but I already played it 1000x since it came out as a single.
A very strong song that really indicated BR's comeback.
02. My Sanity - Also great! This used to be my favourite single of the new ones, only later
replaced by the Profane Rights of Man.
03. Do the Paranoid Style - This one is genius. I love the jab at conspiracy idiots and it's
very nice to dance to at a show haha.
04. The Approach - The chorus is great, the rest just mediocre.
05. Lose Your Head - I really like the laid-back style of this song. Bad Religion proving that
doing new stuff is not a problem for them at all. Also ends on a highly
depressing but serious note.
06. End of History - Absolutely great song. The chorus is so catchy. Beautiful harmonies.
07. Age of Unreason - My favourite song on the record. So much variety in one song.
Exactly what you'd expect from BR: good lyrics, good melodies,
variety and a beautiful feeling.
08. Candidate - My second favourite song on the record. Simple chords, but they work so
damn well. It's stuck in my head all the time. I wish it was longer.
Here, the album falls apart for me.
09. Faces of Grief - Maybe I'm just spoiled, but I'd really like more melody in the songs. I
think it's kinda similar to 52 seconds, but that one had a really fun drop
in melody over the course of the lines sung.
10. Old Regime - It's good but not special.
11. Big Black Dog - I actually like this one. I really like the kids singing at the end, it's the
strongest part of it. The rest of the song kinda feels like a tuned down
Streets of America.
12. Downfall - The worst song on the album in my opinion. The clapping in the chorus is
not something I like. It has nothing for me.
13. Since Now - Also really not to my liking. Sounds way too happy just like Downfall.
Lyrics are great, though.
14. What Tomorrow Brings - Another phenomenal closing song, as expected from the
band. This band has the best closing songs ever. It really
echoes the sadness of the times we live in, but also gives a
spark of hope and even makes you feel good to at least be
aware of it. One of the best on the album.
Note that lyrically, all songs hit the nail on the head. The only thing that makes this my least favourite album is that I don't feel like repeating it so much due to a streak of awesome songs being broken at some points by less fun songs.

Great album. New drummer fits BR style much better. He's no Bobby, of course, but I like the more simplistic aspect of it. It's giving more room to what BR is good at, melody, harmonies, lyrics, etc.

After 6 years, I really expected more from BR. First of all, Drummer Sucks.
There are some good song, then there are BAD songs. But too extreme this time.
Chaos is my favorite on the album.

All the praise and all the "this is just what these guys do best" that True North got in press reviews - THIS is the album this applies to. Whereas TN felt by the numbers and TDOM felt all over the place and directionless at times, THIS one decidedly plays to the band's strengths without the resulting songs feeling generic or like retreads.
And agreed on The Approach - that chorus melody is insanely good. Hell, the urgency in GG's vocal delivery is overall astoundingly brilliant.

The new drummer just kills it for me. It's a big downstep. It's so monotonous, it doesn't add anything to the songs, specially the fast ones. Really pissed off.

What do think are going to be the songs that’ll go over well live?
For me it’s
Paranoid style
The Approach
Candidate ( or end of history)— Am I the only one who feels like “ Candidate” is the spiritual successor to “Streets of America”? I hear the chords in the chorus and thinks that it’s sounds like a more folky interpretation of that song?
Age of unreason— don’t get me wrong, it’s a great song. But it’s also good practice to play the title track on the supporting of the songs parent album.
Big Black Dog
Maybe old Regime
Chaos from within might stay, my sanity won’t stay on the set list for long.
Do you agree? What are your thoughts

I fucking love it. It's no True North (as far as newer albums go), but just because they've put out better albums doesn't mean Age of Unreason isn't fucking kickass.

It's like REALLY good! I love the mix of slow and fast songs. I'm a lot less picky in my musical tastes these days so I can definitely appreciate experimentation that strays away from a generic punk sound. I really love all the songs except for Lose Your Head, which I could have done without. Candidate, The Approach and Age of Unreason definitely blew me away. I give it a 7/10

I have to get used to the drumming (not a fan of Jamie's feel) and the mix (I'd prefer a bit brighter sound) but other than that, I'm all for it. A lot of good stuff here!
